CableSrv replied to CableSrv's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
i called them and they qouted me 50 bucks which isn't so bad for all 4 sides but if i can do them without the welding then that's 50 bucks back in my pocket either way i'd really like to know if it can be done with 5in sleeves and no welding. -
dallas/ft worth shop..
CableSrv replied to CableSrv's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
spotfitz it's ok i found a shop caleld wolferacing that can do it! in arlington no doubt either way, bartman are you using 5in sleeves or 10in ? the kit i ordered from modern was 8in springs with 5in sleeves. I'd hate to take it apart and my sleeves be to short to reach the perch.. or so on if so then this makes me happy cause I can easily remove the perch myself (dremel and lots of patience) -

anyone know of a shop in the DFW area of texas that can weld in the bottom collar for me to install coilovers ? the shop that was given to me to do it.. well i called them and they said they only buy and sell cars now.. so i'm in DIRE need for a shop to weld on the bottom collar for my threaded sleeve to rest on!! HELP!!!

that's exactly how I did mine and I mean to the T!! works very well don't try to mix more than a small cup at a time of resin as the more you make the faster you have to move. mix a small cup and use it all then mix another cup and use it. You'll eventually get the understanding of how to lay down the fiberglass fast. one thing i suggest is get those carbon filter breathing mask as resin STINKS!! and can be bad for your health if you inhale that crap!!

arizona brakes with 15in rims ?
CableSrv replied to CableSrv's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
this is the rims i wanna get temporarily http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=TZS&Product_Code=25-1067&Category_Code=WWC19 I would prefer panasport C8-16x10's but those are out of my budget atm! and since i have not ordered the az brakes yet or the rims i'd hate to order the rims not knowing they will fit or not and there is no person in texas... at least in our group that has az brakes. Plus having the konig rewinds... ugh this is what i hate about brakes and rims... -
Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare = WELFARE
CableSrv replied to pparaska's topic in Non Tech Board
I'm sorry but i didn't read alot of the post yet but I plan to.. My mom is on SS not because she is a free loader or could not save for her retirement.. she is on SS because the doctor claimed her as disabled and stated he could not clear her to WORK EVER AGAIN!! because of this she was PUT on SS. I do not see this as a welfare type system! She would gladly work if she could but having cronic pancreatitis keeps her from doing so. I will agree that SOME and by some I mean the majority of ppl that are on SS are money grubbin bastards that give nothing back to our society and should just drop dead. However you cannot say SS is in it's all bad! because it's there for ppl that where told NO they cannot work and for them to deal with it!! and SS is there to save you from being homeless since she paid what she has paid in it she is only getting what she paid back, nothing more! To me SS is a backup plan that you started when you started working on incase ANYTHING terrible happened to you and you can no longer work. welfare is hey i'm broke... and i can't get a job for no reason and i need help supporting my family of 8 kids or else we go homeless. -
Ok before you say it... I have searched but only found 1 post with 1 person saying it fit but that was with another brand of rims.. my question is will the arizona 12.2 brakes work on konig rewind 15x7 rims ? My 240 has 280zxt rims on it which are 14's and I seriously can't upgrade my brakes unless I get bigger rims, and I just can't afford super large rims right now. I've searched on this forum and classic z cars but only this site had one person saying it works on 15's but that was on panasports. will it fit width wise ? and will it fit without needing a spacer ?

Metal has a bad sound absorbtion and reflection. Fiberglass has one of the best bass absorbtion and reflection. At least that's what most ppl that build sub box's say. I personally lined the bottom of my spare tire well with fiberglass to make sure that it was solid all the way threw. The only problem with my system is it hits HARD and causes a 30+ year old car to rattle like a rattle snake. nothing like being next to another car and your car vibrating so much that you can hear all the loose things rattling around. Once I start refreshing up my body and sealing all the things up I can only assume it will sound really nice.

you mean like this ? that's what i did for my car. Pure fiberglass!! sounds good too

Yes i'm sure it's not a lsd as the rear cover has no fins and does not have the visious lsd sticker printed anywhere on the thing. choke isn't stuck as if you took the top of the su appart you will notice the nozzle and the choke fitting. and both are even. I've tested to see if it was rich using color tune plus the front 3 plugs always foul up after a certain amount of time because of the richness. I've replaced the needles but not the nozzles yet. vin in case you still want to look for 87 is JN1CZ14S2HX150055 I've never tried to part out a car... so I'm not sure where to start.. but i guess the question is should I? the car only needs a new turbo, seats, exhaust, fanclutch and put all back together and be a running car... I have a deal right now with a friend to get the fuel injection off his 280zx to put on my l28e n42 block and possibly get my head gasket fixed. so that part is covered. brakes work, they just sqeal alot and i'd personally would like to have a bit more stopping power..

I have a delima and need help solving it.. I have a 72 240z with l28e engine that has a partially blown hg on the rear water jacket, and the front carb is well... in very bad condition as the needle is set to full lean yet the carb is still rich... this car is my daily driver I also have a 87 300zxt sitting in my garage for i'd say a few years probably 5? the car was parked in there for that long because my mom who drove it noticed a metal on metal noise and was worried so she stopped driving it. She attempted to lift the engine off it's mounts and pull the oilpan but could not due to the subframe in the way. Later on i'd say 2 years I decided to check it out and took off the turbo only to find out the compressor housing was scarred up due to the wheel touching it. In order to get the turbo out i had to cut the rusted up exhaust pipe off the downpipe. Later I took the seats out of the 300zx to put in my 240z. Then my fanclutch went bad on the 240z and also took the 300zx's fanclutch. The body is in great condition and the car is an automatic with all full power everything. This year is before the lsd r200's so it's just a regular r200. Car had it's fluids drained cept fuel but my mom thinks the tank was almost empty anyway. now my delima... I seriously need to get the 300zx out of my garage sold or traded or something to help fund my 240z. I want a l28et engine to put in my 240z... however finding one right now is beyond me. I've even asked a few ppl to keep a look out for one but doesn't seem to be doing to much. I currently have $500 saved up plus the trade or sell of the 87. HELP ME!! I have 500 bucks burning a hole in my pocket and it looks like I could easily upgrade my brakes to the 4x4 setup.. which my brakes are getting kinda bad, but if I buy the brakes i'm out the cash to possibly buy a turbo car. God i'm so lost. I'm not the type of guy that finds deals or gets a lucky break on anything! I've always had tough times and always end up getting used. I ask here because I've been registered on this board for awhile... may not have talked much but i've read alot and I know alot of you guys are very friendly and very accepting to other z fans as well as super helpfull. This board has done so much for me in knowing my z and meeting kewl ppl but alas I'm lost and need serious help!!

jim cook racing designed a wide body called california z http://www.jimcookracing.com/catalog/page21.html the scarab from what I know doesn't have a body kit of it's own...

I've talked to Jerry at all z's and he doesn't have a 280zxt engine to do the trade but I think he was intrested at least. Which is why I'm probably going to have to find a junk yard somewhere to do it. This sat i'm going junk yard hopping to see if any have what I need, and if they do offer the trade. I appreciate all the help you guys have given me

I have one issue that I would need clarification on. exhaust gasses are extremely hot and will expand whenever they can. Adding an opening to the exhaust is just adding another spot the exhaust gasses can expand to, even while holding velocity they still will tend to expand if they can. Personally I don't see vacum coming from the exhaust, intake I can because no heat or expanding gasses to worry about. now if velocity over whelms expanding gasses that could possibly cause vacum but I just don't see it. Someone care to explain in theory how velocity overwhelms expanding gasses ?

car has sat in a garage for 6 years, so no rust from sitting at least from weather, brakes aren't seized as the car is jacked up the entire time and wheels turn cleanly and brakes can be applied from inside the car so I know brakes work. Fuel turning into varnish is possible but I found the title and we got the car 5/19/1998, she drove it for 3 months then she heard a noise and immediatly parked it in the garage. Oil's and antifreeze were drained out of the car long ago, fuel wasn't but she doesn't think there was much in there at the time but this was 6 years ago. I do agree engine still could be a caution on it not working but with the turbo in it's condition I would assume that would rule it out but of course it can't. your right about parting it out! I could easily make more doing so, however that lengthens the time frame of getting the money. my car is down NOW and I need to get it back up SOON!! so I was willing to sacrafice my loss into your gain by doing plain trade off. But as you believe it probably won't happen. I'm going to attempt to talk to a few junkyards around here and see if they are willing to do the full out trade, if not then i'll consider parting it out. Second I'm not attempting to mod the engine or turbo for some time, I'm talking stock boost and stock setup only! My transmission should have no issue standing up to stock performance of a 280zxt. But I do agree if I attempt to modify the performance any that eventually the transmission and rear end would easily give out.

ok it's not a 86 it's a 87 but it's early 87 before the lsd from what i remember. Other wise that'd be in my 240z but yea no lsd in this one Still tho, good engine, good auto trans, perfect body, 16x7 enike black mesh (ssr look alikes) power interior minus top part of the seats, turbo will need to be rebuilt and new exhaust and new cooling fan/shroud and you got a running car. all that just for a 280zxt engine/intake/exhaust manifold/turbo/ecu/wire harness and all fuel related items. Don't need trans as mine already has a 5 speed trans. Personally that's a good deal in my opinion as what i'm willing to give is worth more
-
how much would the swap cost ? I've heard of ppl getting the entire engine for 150 in junkyards... that still run awesome... I would think that this car is worth more than what is needed for the swap!! But I guess not.. anyone else got any idea's ?

ok guys, I'm putting a msg here in hopes maybe you can point me in the right direction. first off I have a 1973 240z with a l28e engine/n42 head with hitachi su carbs on a e88 manifold. issue #1 the front carb is shot and always runs rich even after adjusting the float bowl and closing the mixture needle!! issue #2 head gasket is most likly blown as engine overheated really bad one day and cylinder number 3 had a really bad fowl plug issue #3 I have NO FUNDS AT ALL!! My ideas! I want to swap in a 280zxt engine but lack of funds keep me from doing that. My mom has a 1986 300zxt in the garage she told me I could use to get the funds to fix my car. now to explain that car. Turbo is shot, enough shaft play to let the compresser wheel touch the housing and scar it! exhaust was so rusted I had to saw it in half to get it off, automatic transmission! All power interior... but removed top of seats to put in my 240z. Body is in awesome condition no rust that I can see no dents Black paint. Enikie 16x7? or x8 not sure, but they are the black mesh wheels with chrome lip. never looked into the motor so not sure on it's condition just know it ran before we parked it 8 years ago ? but had grinding noise (presumably from the turbo we think) I've done search on ad's and ebay to see how well 300zxt stuff sells and i find very few ad's and mostly no bids. I would rather trade out the entire car for everything needed to do the 280zxt swap into my car(stock stuff no aftermarket, well maybe) but again at a loss cause i have no clue where to go or post. So I ask for your help in the right direction. If your intrested in the car I"m in Ft Worth texas

http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=11482&sort=1&cat=505&page=1 I was going threw the photos just admiring and saw this air dam and was just wow'd. Doesn't look like the standard msa version as it looks wider ? and the corner parts look more flared out. Almost looks like the subtle z body kit but can't really tell. Any help you can provide would be awesome.
