  1. zr8ed, as much as you make a good point here is the problems I see with this idea. first the driver seat is POWER sliders so I can't just remove that easily and still keep a slider intack..... plus I like the idea of power slider.. and no I can't just get another non power 300zx seat which the passenger seat just so happens to be... second if we are welding why weld the seat to use 240z sliders when we can just weld the car to fit 300zx sliders ? less metal most likly and less weld required in my opinion. then there is that I don't know a welder issue also..... if we had a welder.... I see no reason how we wouldn't be able to get them mounted.
  2. spotfitz, LOL it's ok man actually I have a first gen 300zx in the garage sitting probably going to get rid of it as we dont' know what's wrong with engine and well it's been disassembled by my mom and well she isn't exactly the mechanical type. turbo is removed engine is semi off the mounts and oil pan unbolted and just hanging and exhaust cut and now seats taken out..... My mom decided to sell the car either whole or to part it out so I took the seats. I need to contact all z's soon to see if they would buy it whole from us... or if someone else would want it. either way last weekend was me installing a new sound system in my car. making customer fiberglass box and pods for rear speakers. not bad for my first attempt at fiberglass and yea any help you could provide would be awesome
  3. (listens to the silence.....)
  4. the counter is fake.... if you refresh it goes up like 4000 hits each time and truly that's unbelievable that every time you refresh 4000 ppl look at that page........ another thing you might note which I find funny is he stated he only paid 1200 for the dress but look at the current bid.... 6g's!!!!
  5. Ok so Ross if I were to lower my car as low as the rears (all around) like in the picture I'd have to section my struts to keep strut travel correct ? and if so by how much and can you provide the correct struts I need ? Perferably I'd like the tokico illumina's but can they handle 250 front and 275 rear and would that be stiff enough to keep me from rubbing at that height ? if they can't do you have shortened struts that are adjustable and can ?
  6. that's mine however i've since removed the chrome bumpers
  7. no no the seats side support is power adjustable!!! just at the lowest setting it fits me perfect.
  8. johnc you are correct and more detailed about double clutching than what I said but that is what I meant. and again correct about the braking slightly part.
  9. personally i've done a test fit of the z31 seats and they fit SNUG I do agree about a slight bit of rub on the sill but not enough to bother me. second i'm 5'10 and 150lbs so NOTHING rubs my ribs and at the lowest setting on the seats for the side support FIT ME SNUG!! which is another reason I want them. Another thing is i'm a 240z so my mounting is different from yours by a little bit I think. I posted this earlier, but what is off on the mounting is this the z31 seats have this type of mounting _------ where the front end angles down and the rear end is tabs. the front end has horiztonal bolt system where as the rear end is vertical bolts. now on a 240 both front and rear are both normal vertical bolts and nuts. now here is more issue. the z31 seats are wider in track than the 240z seats and they are off..... meaning the bolt holes for the side near the door sill are closer to mounting than near the trans tunnel. the door sill is like 1/2 of an inch off but the near the trans tunnel it's like almost 2 inchs off. THEN not only is it wider but its longer tooo!! meaning the front mounts are BEHIND the front mounts of the seat by like 2 1/2 inchs!!! I don't have a welder nore do I know someone who does and no idea on how to make or fab a bracket myself to fit them which is why I need some help from someone that could. I'LL PAY if possible me and a friend are going to look at it this weekend to see if our heads can come up with some rig to do it but without welding or the ability to make metal mounts I'm not sure how sturdy it will be!! OH HELL I'LL JUST HOT GLUE GUN IT DOWN!!!
  10. haha I BEAT YOU ALL!!! I turn 24 on may 31st
  11. nothing wrong with going from 5th to 3rd as long as you match 3rd's rpm limit which usually means near the end of your rpms or close to it. the idea as princable behind heel/toe is downshifting WHILE braking. You apply brakes SLIGHTLY, then press in clutch and shift to neutral, and let off the clutch. blip your throttle till the correct rpm for the gear you plan to drop into, then quickly depress the clutch, drop into the gear then let off clutch again while STILL holding brakes!!! then press on gas to exit corner. toe/heel is mainly used for slowing down while still in power IN A CORNER TURN not in straite areas. that's just double clutching double clutching is the term of pressing in clutch blipping throttle and rev matching to a lower gear but NOT touching the brakes!!! mainly used just to either jump into a power band or help brake using engine friction without touching the brakes themselves.
  12. man today is a good day for laughing
  13. good ideas keep them coming maybe we can get the admins to add some of the ideas
  14. Ok I've visited a good amount of car forums before and as much as I love this forum over all others (mainly due to how nice ppl are and how much info is on this site) there is one small thing I miss..... regional forums aka forums dedicated to local guys? that way we could each post msg for our area specifically ? it's the one thing i've noticed we didn't have, any other ideas ppl think we should have that we could possibly get added ? hopefully ?
  15. so... no one can help ? damn this sucsk
  16. phantom I think your math is off... then again i'm no math wizard shouldn't it be 350 X 0.63 = 220.5 + 350 = 570.5? and then 350 x 1.25 = 437.5 + 350 = 787.5? you multiply the percentage to the original to get how much MORE it addes to the original value 63% of 350 is 220 + 350 = 570 125% of 350 is 437 + 350 = 787 then again i'm no math wizard
  17. Yea I know about the 8in springs with wider wheels as I plan 10in front and 12in rear with custom flares that I plan to make once I get the ccw's I want. and also agree on the 1in bumpsteer spacer to help correct how low I'm going. Checked out your classiczcar.com gallery and yup that's about how low I want now question is with you sectioning your struts 1 1/2in's, do you ever hit your bumpstops ? and how much suspension travel do you still have ? Btw thanks for the info
  18. Ok first off i'm no welder nore do I have the ability right now to fabricate anything out of metal.... yes poor me Now this is what I need help with. I'm taking first gen 300zxt seats (yes powered) and trying to put them in a 240z, however the mounts are different and more wider on the 300zxt seats which makes it impossible to use stock mounting. I'm willing to pay for someone's time to help me fabricate some mounts or a way to MOUNT these seats in a 240z even willing to barbeque perferably someone local..... as I don't think I can afford a plane ticket.... or frieghting my car somewhere I have basic tools such as socket wrenchs, 1 ton hydraulic lifting thingy (can't remember the name at this specific time...) wrenchs and HOT GLUE GUN!! ....(do you think I could hot glue the seats in ?... maybe not...) PLEASE HELP AN UNCONFORTABLE Z OWNER PUT IN BETTER SEATS!!! I'm in North Richland Hills Texas
  19. oh no!! that car in that picture isn't mine.... however it is VERY clean that was just a reference as to how low I want my car. and my car already had a msa 6-1 header but had no jet hot coat applied this is my car http://hybridz.org/nuke/modules.php?op=modload&name=coppermine&file=thumbnails&album=75
  20. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=9388 ok plain and simple, I have a 1972 240z and want to lower it to that height however I've heard that going to low and you need to section struts to gain back travel. I've done MANY SEARCHES and found that anything beyond 2 inchs you should start to section your struts and how to swap cartriges to make the sectioning work. Such as moving the front struts to the back and so on. but I have NO clue how low my car already is or if it even is low, and I know I want my car at low as his but does going that low require me to section my struts ? if so by how much ? 1inch ? 2 ? the car's goal is 250lbs front and 300lbs rear springs and mms coilovers. rare occasions of drag but mostly street/scca running. I don't like the idea of lowering to much and losing strut travel but I have no clue how much I can lower my car before I lose travel. (new to z's) I also plan to run the bumpsteer spacers and run 17's and most likly use the arizona z car's 4130 controll arms, unless there is another alternitive. any opinions wanted ideas and places to get things done local (specifically the sectioning of the struts since i'm no welder) or onlines shops to buy new struts MEANT for sectioned strut tubes.
  21. surprised he hasn't converted the lt1 to ltcc (the coil per pack setup for lt1) ltcc is really the best mod for lt1's it takes HALF of the optispark that doesn't require voltage going threw it but enough to get it to read and uses ls1 coils and a small controller to allow you to advance/retard and controll rpm limit REALLY awesome setup!! here is their site http://www.geocities.com/reilym/LTCC/ another site much like the ltcc is called the dynaspark http://www.dynotech-eng.com/dynaspark.htm the dyna spark is a waste spark system tho which to be honest i think the ltcc would perform MUCH better plus it already uses ls1 coils which means the kit itself is cheaper
  22. then in us dollars that would be a good deal, not the best deal but decent all together. I'm also planning for lt1 but i'm goign t56 route not auto. so I'm expecting 3k for the both of them.
  23. just a correction that is not a ls1!!! that is a supercharged lt1!!! they said somewhere around 500-600hp from it pushing 15psi ? procharger supercharger and he barely could get traction which is why he is now widebodying it out he raced a r1 superbike in one of the videos and kept up with it neck for neck. He's like the pinnical of 240z badasses!! Darius is my personal idol!!! he's what got me into wanting a v8z
