Ok guys, I recently bought a 72 240z that already has a nissan 5spd transmission. I think I have a bad mc or brake booster as no matter how much I bleed I always get air in lines. well anyway I plan to eventually do a ls1/t56 swap and need to upgrade brakes and other issues. now i've done alot of searching but I got lost... As i've never tackled swaping out mc's or brake boosters before this is new to me. I would like a bit more firmer pedal and less travel. I don't know if tilton makes a mc like the original mc i have but with larger bore.... plus not sure which booster to get for more vacum? which booster would think I should get and which mc. plans for the car are daily driver/scca solo and maybe a rare drag strip.... I do plan to get mml's extreme 13inch brake setup and rear brakes eventually but thought i'd go ahead and upgrade the mc and brake booster first tho. Any advice would be appreciated

something nice about ls1's
CableSrv replied to CableSrv's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
i'm thinking darton wet sleeve 427 with nice ported heads and mild cam i think 550 n/a is possible with that. and i might keep it at 9:1 cr so incase i decide to boost i can with magnacharger or ati/procharger lets see... 427...9:1cr....lsx intake....ported heads....turbo cam.....5-10psi... i think i can easily hit 700-800 rwtq -
R230 axle part numbers
CableSrv replied to Tim240z's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Ross will your adapters work with his axles ? assuming you both use the same thickness of metal on the adapter ? -
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131736&page=1&pp=20 over there on ls1tech.com i saw this and was simply amazed at what the stock block could handle. 749hp and 830tq seriously ppl that are deciding on massive iron blocks and other things just to be safe should check this out cause this majorly shows how tough that ls1 aluminum block actually is. putting aside that it cost a bit more for a ls1 conversion i still think it's worth it for a bit more comfort knowing your block won't die on you cause your hitting 500+ hp

R230 axle part numbers
CableSrv replied to Tim240z's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
any chance you can post a picture of them ? and are they rebuilt and resized units or are they completly new custom made cv's ? I noticed your thread on the adapters and so on but never seen a clear picture of the new cv's you had made from them. would like to see them if possible as this is a swap i plan to do. -
that could work but then your limited due to build up of each different design, as to where a 3d model could be changed at any point and time to see the full effect. once you have what your looking for it would be easy to make a plug then mold to make it.
-
awesome for front and back now if only i could get a cleaner side and top view
-
those COULD work but are a bit to small for my taste, plus i need a front and back if possible.
-
If i had the technical drawings then yes i could just simply use spline modeling to get what i need, however i don't have those drawings.. I have 3d Studio Max 5.1 with brazil r/s rendering suite. which I'm able to get photo realistic renderings a bit easier than max's normal global illumination rendering system. Plus i get MUCH more materials to work with I've tried searching the web for the 3d model with no luck. only thing i've found so far was a gta3 vice city model of a fairlady z... which to be honest looked like crap.. if you know where i can find the technical drawings that would be AWESOME.
-
guys I was wondering if anyone knows where i can find a base 240z 3dsmax model to use to play with so i can develope an intresting body kit. eventually i plan to make custom body parts and well without something really clean to look at modeling one from the ground up will be a bit hard. hell not even sure this should be in this forum....

As with alot of ppl switching to either r200 or r230 and going cv there is lack of information on real torqe specs on most used cv shafts from other vehicals. well I do remember this shop which can make custom cv shafts for any application. http://www.driveshaftshop.com/ I found this place when i was looking for new cv shafts for my focus but they never finished the focus project when i was looking so i held off. but hey might as well show you guys it

here is the guys sight. http://www.geocities.com/row4navy/rb26swap/72Datsun.html i don't think those are the metal vb flares cause i don't remember those flares going that high up. i thought they stopped almost to the top of the fender. where as these go all the way up to the top.
-
i like the rear end but not the front i don't like how it smooths out the front fenders like that by pulling the entire face of the body out. I'd much prefer a more defined FENDER like in the picture posted. which is why i don't like the msa version of the imsa flares
-
ok so where can i get it ?
-
Ok looking at this picture makes me DROOL but i'm at a loss trying to figure out what flares he's using and where to get them. it looks like he's using the rear big imsa flares but they don't look as bubbly as those are... unless i'm just not seeing it right. But the fronts don't look like the normal big imsa flares as those don't define the flare but on his they do.. can anyone help me figure out what front flares he has and rears and where to order them from ?
-
http://www.geocities.com/cablesrv/240z.txt to view copy that address into your ie browser! it's like that to fool geocities into hosting images. can anyone identify that body kit or idea on what they used to do that ?
-
i'm not sure i need the driveshaft, fuel pump, regulator, or speedometer things since i'm going to keep with the pcm of the ls1 and get autometer guages to fit the dash, plus i plan to use a r230 rear end with cv halfshafts so i'm not sure that driveshaft will work with the r230. and as far as fuel i plan to get a full out fuel cell with walbro fuel pump.

wow down to the fluids!! btw i already checked the yard at all z's and he had no running 280z's. he had a turbo 260 i think and a 240 2+2 which i hate 2+2's but he DID have lots of shells to use. but i was hoping for more than just a shell
-
wow 2k just for the conversion parts ? are they good quality tho ? btw i work 3pm to 12am so going to that meet won't happen for me... i only have weekends off. and i'm guessing your right.. it probably will be to much of a hassle to get a ls6. actually the hassle right now is finding a 280z...
-
actually from many ppl there is a significant reason for a ls6 1) they changed the firing order to help quite it down somewhat 2) better higher flowing heads with new exhaust port design 3) better flowing intake manifold. 4) better cam now i assume i could get a ls1 and swap the crank, heads, and intake manifold for that but then that's alot of wasted money just for that when i can find a junker ls6 and since this is a project why not start off with a already solid ls6 i do plan to go t56 and want the cv halfshafts of the r230 rearend. i'm waiting for my next paycheck so i can order the jtr book for reading. one of the biggest things i'm worried about is suspension. I plan to put WIDE tires on this puppy anywhere from 10.5 fronts and 11.5 rears, but i kinda don't know what to do for brakes.... and how to convert to 5 lug for better rims and how to keep it all together to fit cv halfshafts

OHHHH your in arlington!!! your going to be my new best friend. i was just in an accident and well my car got totaled and well once the settlement check i plan to get a datsun 280z and i'm looking into doing a ls6 from a zo6 corvette if i can ever find one. doing this was my dream for like 3 years now and well now i can finally start to realize it. the only stump is FINDING a 280z to start on.... i'm in north richland hills and if i could i'd like to take a look at your z sometime and have a talk. would like to know exactly what you went threw to get a ls1 in
