he is offering the other stuff but in seperate ebay listings. meaning you'd have to bid for EACH. the misc stuff he's talking about is just the timing cover and oil pan and oil pump. nothing more. it's a nice engine but for 300 bucks and with 90+ psi compression test ? I'd be better off getting a junkyard engine with everything for 300 bucks and rebuilding it as I'd probably be rebuilding this one too. Once again it's all a gamble plus it's out of my state so again big gamble.
-
bastaad525 it is just the long block. that means no ecu/header/intake/turbo/efi which I really need.
-
thanks guys for the insight!! looks like I'd be better off finding one in a junkyard with ALL parts.
-
Ok guys I was looking on ebay to find a 280zxt engine and came across this.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&category=6763&item=2477716034&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBWA%3AIT I'm not very familure with the z engines yet so does this look like a good deal ? guy told me it'd cost 250 shipping to my door for 700lbs. he also said it's just a long block no ecu/header/turbo/intake/ nothing just pure long block. with timing chain, oil pan and oil pump and i think water pump. so basically if this goes for 50 bucks and 250 shipping this is a nice apparently new block for 300 bucks ?

Ok last time I remembered I don't see ppl switching to 5 lug for better brakes when they can keep their 4 lug and get just as good brakes.... so the whole why switch to 5lug if not for performance is bull. ppl switch because of wheel options not brake options. And as I've said before I'M BROKE which is why I'm not able to upgrade brakes YET. I've already stated I plan to go the jsk route with willwoods ndl's and vented rotors. (maybe I wasn't clear on that....) also for the lt1 project THAT'S FAR AWAY, as I originally planned to build up suspension FIRST before I even start the swap. Last I don't remember the rotors sliding over the studs but more or less BEHIND the hub .... then again I could be wrong as I've not taken mine apart yet. And last Only reason I want to swap right now is because I have a donor z31 wheels and hubs for FREE and I can't upgrade brakes till I have 15's or higher and currently I have 14's so unless I upgrade wheels FIRST I can't upgrade brakes, which again is the reason for 5lug swap!!
-
ok I've searched and not found a CLEAR answer on this.... but IF I swap in 87 z31 front hubs into a 240z do I need to upgrade brakes. The reason I ask this is because I'm broke and well I want to swap to 5 lug but can't afford a brake upgrade yet, plus I don't wanna goto the 4x4 setup cause why spend money on that when that's not my end goal? I eventually want jsk's hats with willwood calipers and rotors but can't afford any of that right now I have a z31 parts car and this is the reason I'm asking. If I swap what will I need to do about brakes ? can't I just put a spacer on the rotor to keep it inline of the caliper or is it more than just that ? another reason I'm wanting to swap to the 5lug is on the z31 I have enikie rims 16x7 I think with 225 rubber. which in order for me to do any brake upgrade I need at least 15's... which currently I have a 14in rim Please help!!!!! I can afford the 5lug rear next paycheck but can't afford new brakes yet...

Ok before you tell me to search I have!! but have a few questions. but before that lemme tell you what I have. 1972 240z with l28e block, n42 head, 72 su carbs, 6-1 msa header, nissan 5speed (not sure which tho) Now here comes my question. I've checked the classifieds but nothing local or really anything of what I need. Anything wrong with using the head/block I have with a turbo ? if so what should I get ? I know I need ecu, all wireing for injectors, intake, turbo header, turbo & oil lines, possible 280zxt distributer ? anything else and do you know where I can get it locally and how much do you think that stock stuff will cost me ?
-
Ok not sure if I should post here or in drivetrain but I guess it could pretain to both? either way my question is this.... I have a 1972 240z which is my daily driver right now and I also have a pre lsd 87 300zx sitting in garage being used as parts or what not. What can I use off the 300zx to put on my 240z? I know the z31 has r200 but not lsd. I'm thinking of taking that and cv's and putting those on my z.. but what else ? can I use the z31 hubs ? if so what about rears ? anything you guys can tell me I'd appreciate

my god!!! 8 FULLY DRIVABLE Z'S ? is she hot ? I wanna marry her!! (if she is hot that is)
-
tim you already got a lt1.... what do you plan to do ? twin lt1's ? one for rear and one for front ? "thinks about that concept for a second.... MY GOD THAT WOULD RULE!!" awd twin turbo twin lt1!!! 240Z!!!!
-
from what I gather from the post was they welded alot of it closed and remachined the correct openings and port matched them to the lt1 block. not sure about just enlarging tho as that might be bad especially for you gasket.

it's ok spotfitz I understand man and I also agree about the hybridz emails coming threw as spam!!! I hate that crap!!! I sent you a pm giving you my address but since you didn't see it I can see how you never got a chance to come over. In the pm I stated my phone is currently disconnected due to many things but I plan to get it reconnected in 2 weeks or so Either way having my mom tear apart the seats to recover them in black and redish orange...(more red than anything but they didn't really have the orange I needed). I haven't done the passenger side yet due to kinda got a headache and shit from last nights concert plus well I'm being lazy!! I already know how to do it just need to do it. Plus waiting for my mom to get the design done using passenger side parts to make a whole seat! When I did my side i made a small mistake that well I'll need to fix later.... side closer to the door is crooked so the seat looks twisted.

LOL yea i'm off rufe snow and watauga rd. the road that connects them together aka stardust I'm off on weekends so

ztard if your looking for performance there is a shop that can reengineer old sbc style heads to work with the lt1's reverse cooling I've only heard of them doing it on canfield heads tho... which stock with 225cc runners they flow at like 302cfm at .600 lift stock castings goto http://www.lt1tech.com and you can find some info on that. in fact here is the exact post for ya http://lt1tech.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=6;t=001763 he list the shop's name and person and number to call to get it done. He also stated it was like 1900 for the conversion with heads.... not sure if they are full heads or just bare tho..
-
Slade I second Tim's opinion on not getting it!! If you like first gens better then save for that, cause if not your going to have alot more pain with what you have than what you want!! Trust me I held out till I found a awesome 240z!!! since your local anything mechanical you might need fixed I'm a decent wrench monkey and I'm off on weekends to boot!! I'm not the best at electrical but installed my own kick ass sound system including customer fiberglass rear speaker pods and fiberglass sub box in spare tire well btw welcome to the club
-
Ok well spotfitz never came over but the slipknot/fear factory concert was AWESOME!!! got driver seat done..... I ended up using the stock 240z bottoms with rails and using the backs of the 300zx seats because.... the driver side has power sliders and all that equipment WON'T fit between the 2 mounting support rails in the floor board.... So I ended up having to take apart the 300zx seats and using just the backs... to me tho only thing I really wanted was the backs because of the awesome side support they have apon taking out my seats tho.... seems the last person that owned this z well spilt something and that's been soaking in the floor board for A LONG TIME!!! as there is 2 large holes in the bottom right where the frame rail ends which now means I need to get new floor boards and have them welded in I went and got some really awesome vinyl and plan to reapolster the seats in red/orange center spots with black outer parts. Couldn't find a more orangish color tho so the vinyl is a bit more red than my car is but will still look decent

zfan it's not RUFF it's just RUF RUF is a company much like saleen or lingenfilter in which they take a standard porcshe and modify it to high hell and sell it RUF porcshes are AWESOME AND WICKED FAST!!
-
it's all good!!! we are all car ppl and each has their own opinion just to me a sponsered race thats on normal driving roads will never be considered thrilling as they can't offically state times that require you to go past the speed limit or say you can't win without doing so. Which means you won't see all those cars GOING fast as hell!!! where as the underground cannonball run or gumball is more or less "just get to this point PERIOD, first to get there wins btw there is awesome parties every 5 star hotel that's on the way to the other coast have fun ppl :D" type thing which once I finish my twin turbo lt1 I wanna go in it. It's something like 5 grand to enter, but they PAY for all your food and your hotel rooms you stay at IN those 5 star hotels so you CAN party if you choose to or.... you could just skip the parties and just try to be first
-
no no that's not what I meant DOH!! I mean this isn't the ORIGINAL cannonball run and yes I did research the race from midwest to cali part while nice to see them cross 3/4 of the usa then back it's still not as thrilling as the original. yes many will compete but it's more of a SPONSERED race which means alot less massive moment happening like in the NORMAL cross country cannonball run. things like a ferrari owner demolishing the car then running to a dealer buying another one then continuing the race.... what I meant by yuppie is now it's a fully sponsered race and it really is only to show off another companies ability and not the spirit of really being there. the original was only a title reward and some hummer I think won Plus the cannonball is a fully fledge setup that have parties at like top five star hotels and crap and to see these massive ammount of cars there and partying with them and running from one coast to another is a massive thriller. now yes running from cali to 3/4 way to other side of the us then back while having to get to a track in a certain time is kewl but notice they said LEGAL DRIVING SPEED, which means they will set a LEGAL time limit to get to the track...... otherwise it promotes racing in the streets and you know that can't happen in a SPONSERED event. the original cannonball run isn't really sponsered if I remember correctly.
-
that doesn't sound like the normal cannonball run... that's a tirerack sponsered wannabe it looks like.... skid pad events trying to measure g's being competitive ? doesn't sound right. cannonball is just a large race from coast to coast, not some yuppy competition in a skid pad event.... the offical race is labeled the cannonball RUN not this cannonball 1 lap crap... it'll be kewl to see the vehicals but it's yuppy and not worth really being in it... now the REAL cannonball run would be AWESOME to be in.
-
much better o great master!!!
-
LOL so you where going to help free ? including the metal needed to weld ? if so then HELL YEA IT'S STILL ON!!! I just hate having to inconvience someone times to help weld or do whatever to add these seats in. which is why I originally offered to pay for your time, but as my last post stated money gone to bills and concert... it's ok tho cause most of next check is good so around 500 bucks
-
well.... it seems I'm broke this 2 weeks due to slipknot/fear factory concert so I'll be unable to pay anyone to help maybe in 2 weeks I can but .... damn bills and concert.... has to happen.
