  1. I remember seeing ZR-1 at the vette shop a couple years ago. It was priced at 50K. It was perfect.
  2. Hey Jason, your engine build is nearly identical to what I am planning. Have you dyno'd that package?
  3. Does anyone own an Astro 8070 auto darkening helmet. This helmet seems to be very well priced at $90 with solar recharging, adjustable dark to light time, adjustable shade 9-13. Just wondering if anyone had an opinion on them. They are made by Astro Pneumatics. Function wise it seems identical to the hobart hood which is priced at $170?? Thanks
  4. I got the tranny today Finally, now I can get the rest of my parts ordered and get going
  5. Well, for my first go at it I am going to use the origional half shafts. After I break enough u-joints I suppose I will try to have the shafts customized to use the 1310 series u-joints. If thats looks too exspensive at the time I will re-think my strategy.
  6. Just make sure you bring enough beer to last through the road trip Seriously though, is their anybody in Colorado Springs that has a hybrid Z? I know there are several people in Colorado, but haven't noticed anyone from the Springs yet. If so we should hook up.
  7. Has anyone had custom halfshafts built to use chevy u-joints? Aside from the guys that have swapped entire IRS systems in. I guess the u-joint flange to the four bolt datsun pattern is the issue? Would need an custom adapter similar to the jtr driveshaft flange. Maybe it would be more expesive than just doing the CV swap, but it seems that if you were running 1310 u-joints on the halfshafts they wouldn't be breaking??? I don't know, but I will have to deal with this soon.
  8. You might have seen my other post that my tranny was lost by UPS. Well, it was shipped on August 28th and I still haven't seen it. The good news is that I was able to get our company rep from UPS to look into it. She got the next person up in the chain to chase it down and they actually found it. This was last week. So they told me on Friday that it would continue shipping out from MO. I got a new tracking number and tried it yesterday, not in the system. Tried it today and not in the system. So I give her a call to make sure the tracking number is correct and guess what.... It is still setting in MO. They don't know why it didn't go out Friday, but they say it will go out tonight and I should have it by the end of this week. What a PITA this shipment has been. I am still not certain I will ever see it. I am going to throw a party this weekend if it really shows up.
  9. I signed up. Let me know if the info doesn't go through. Thanks
  10. You guys have probably seen this, but since you mention electric power. http://www.beyond2000.com/news/story_545.html
  11. If you scan a couple of those pics, could you send them to me as well. I may go with sidepipes and I am looking into several different ways to route out of the engine compartment. I am replacing the frame from the radiator back, so this leaves me several options while I am hacking up the engine compartment.
  12. I couldn't give away my inline six and four speed tranny so I threw them away. Dropped them off in the scrap pile for nothing.
  13. I'll look at it again tonight, it just appeared to bolt up more outside. I guess it will make more sense when I get one side cut out and start trial fitting the new tubing.
  14. I have to replace my frame in the engine compartment like Pete did because of rust. the cross member currently bolts just to the outside of the tube frame and has some reinforcement in the fender. I plan to replace this with 2.5" square tubing, but what is a good way to remount the cross member since it is just to the outside of the tubing? I didn't get what Pete was up to with the "pockets" for the cross member. I could weld some angle to the side of the tubing for the cross member mount. What have you guys been doing when you have to replace this part of the frame?
  15. Probably trying to build a coconut engine that will bolt up to the tranny so he'll have overdrive for his bamboo boat.
  16. Actually I paid $500 shipped for the tranny with bellhousing, resurfaced flywheel, new clutch, new pressure plate, shifter, clutch fork, z-bar, shifter linkage, clutch linkage, throw-out bearing, tranny mounts, etc. I got to see pictures of the inside of the tranny before buying and it is in very good shape. Only problem is that UPS lost the box with the tranny in shipment! I only got the box with the bellhousing, clutch, etc. I hope they find it. How the @#%* can you lose a 110 pound wooden crate?
  17. I just ordered my roll cage, it ships thru fed ex. So we'll see if that goes better.
  18. looks like UPS lost my tranny. I got the box with the bellhousing, clutch, flywheel a few days ago, but the second box with the tranny hasn't shown up. The shipper is going to put a trace on it. The tracking sucks, for both boxes it only showed that is was picked up and then unloaded in the same state. That was it, no departure, no estimated arrival, squat. Anybody had to put a trace on a package before? What happens then.
  19. Unreal Tournament for me. Everyday at lunchtime during work. Those games are addicting.
  20. I just went over yesterday to look and see what they had and their 8 point cages are on sale for $109, normally $149. I went ahead and ordered mine, I have been waffling long enough. www.swracecars.com
  21. I went ahead and bought one of these. It should arrive either today or tomorrow. The bigger problem from what I could see is actually finding one at a cheaper price. All of the junk yards I checked with wanted $550 plus core charge of $150 for the tranny. I found one cheaper but got a little bit lucky. Hopefully it is in good shape. Maybe you will have better luck in finding a junk yard that is easy to deal with. If you tell them it is a 4 speed tranny from an 82 chevy 6.2liter diesel it will come up on their system, otherwise they all seemed to be clueless about the tranny. I am sure it would be easier to go to a u-pull-it type junkyard and just try to find one yourself, but all the yards around me seem to be past that mode of operation. One other thing, it seems to be a rarity that v8zed got one of these that has a standard type bellhousing bolt pattern. It looks like most of them have a unique pattern so make sure you get the bell housing with it. And I guess with the unique bell housing means your stuck with mechanical clutch linkage??
  22. So is the alignment driveshaft straight or does it have some angle to it. I can't tell from the picture. You have to have some angle on the u-joints in the driveshaft right?
  23. For fun I put up two pictures that show the bolt pattern difference on the bellhousings. Go to my web page and look under the 240z V8 conversion page and scroll to the bottom.
  24. Oh yeah, did this tranny have the same speedo cable hookup as the Th350. Were you able to use the JTR speedo cable with it? Ok, now I will leave you alone, I promise bryan
  25. I thought the bellhousing had a unique bolt pattern for that tranny. Did you get the other bell housing machined or are there a few bell housings that fit with it? bryan
