I beieve in your first post you said 1 7/8" primaries with 3 " collectors.

It`s not cheap , but you can have custom headers made for around 1$1700. Or there is a custom builder that sends you a mock up kit . With pics and the mockup sent back they can build headers out of stainless. Cost is comewhere around $1400.

I run my car at houston raceay park and they wouldn`t let us run those kind of times without the all of the required safety equipment installed.

Hey Taylor. I have a `78 280z also. I am putting an ls1 in it. I am running panasports 16x7`s. What rim width do you have on the back and do you have the stock suspension? I also have mine lowered. I don`t want to cut the fenders for flares unless I have to. Mark

One of my coworkers printed out a test done on longtube vs. short tube headers. Even though a ford motor was used, they claim that below 350 hp on a v-8, shorties were fine. But above 350 hp that the long tubes would definately help. All of us ls1 guys should be using long tubes. Specially if you have done any mods. But I know there is the cost factor. If you don`t have a header maker near by there is a company that will send you a mock up kit. You fit the headers up the way you want them , tighten up the bolts and ship them back. They use stainless steel. Just google custom stainless steel headers and it should pop up.

I found a guy near my house that builds headers. After my install I will take it over to him for measurements to see if he can do it and for how much.

I googled custom stainless steel header kit and a place called stainless headers popped up. I called them up. They send you a mock up kit. You design it the way you want it made , tighten the bolts up amd mail it in. One pair $1300. Five sets $900 each. Check out their site . Give them a call. If enough people are interested, we might get a great deal. Chris pointed out to me their collectors are merge collectors. Very expensive. I noticed bad vibration when I accelerate from a stop. I checked the rear u-joint. It has a little slop in one direction. Will that cause the vibration? It does stop after I build a little speed. I have a new bottom mount on the diff and I am getting ready to install a top R/T mount. What is the diference in measurement for the v8 flange vs the stock. So I know which one I have. I have a 78 280z and it weighs 3040. AFR alum. heads and a 700r tranny. But I have all the interior and the spair. Oh, plus the a/c. How is yours set up?

Thanks Ron I did not know Darius was a member. If I do this upgrade your front mount will be a have to. I should do it any way given the age of the strap and the amount of horse power I am currently putting out. Might save me some money and head aches later.

Does anyone know which model of the ati procharger was on darius's 240z? I am looking into doing the same thing on my 280z.

I would be interested in one also if the price is right.
