Guys
I recently decided to go with the RB26DETT swap over re-installing a built VG30DETT back into my Z32. The decision came right as I had my motor out and I was having a difficult time sourcing some manifolds that would work with the kind of power I'm looking to make (700-800)
7-800HP is surely do-able on a VG series powerplan, however things just get complicated when dealing with two of everything. Having been an expert on the VG powerplant the last several years, I'm first hand experience of how daunting a V series engine can be when it comes to turbo setups.
With this said, I have sourced an RB26DETT and began gathering as much info as possible. At this point I know that I will need:
RB26DETT Motor & Harness
RB25 5spd Trans & Slave Cylinder
RB25 Pan
Custom Mounts & Modified Cross Member
as well as alot of other things tailered to this setup. I have spent several nights this week researching this forum and checking out alot of the links for parts, and noticed alot of itnerchangeability between the nissan engines.
I have a TON of VG30DETT parts lying around so if anyone would like me to compare rb series parts to the VG feel free to put up requests.
Here is my car at its current point. I will be painting the engine bay, but only after the fitment of the motor has been fully addressed.
Anyways, I figured I'd kick this thread off and try to keep it as updated as possible, in case anyone else is intersted in a swap of this caliber.
My intent is to build this motor up before I put it in. I plan on using CP pistons, ARP Head & Main Studs, a Cometic Headgasket, Tomei Oil Pump & Crank Collar, an N1 water pump, and all OEM gaskets. I have seen some information regarding a 200zr oil sump setup, but I am unfamiliar with what it actually is, and what specific application its used on. If anyone could clarify that, that would be great!
The turbo plans are a full-race twin-divided twin-scroll manifold mated with (2) 44mm Tial wastegates, and a GT42 turbo. I will also be ordering a GT35R most likely for my 'street' application turbo.
If anyone has comments, suggestions, or any kind of input, please feel free! I know the VG 30 like the back of my hand but I am just starting to dive into the RB world so any information would be helpful
Thanks
Andy
