  1. I have a trans now, it should be out of a TT model, I havn't been able to find any numbers on it to check year and such. Anyone know where to find it?
  2. haha, not ditching it, at least not yet, maybe next year, only reason is I have to many vehicles. If I can find a crew cab frontier cab i'll definitely keep it. Its been a really good truck, got it really cheap from someone that messed up the suspension. Redid the 4-link in the rear, been a good driver except had to replace the trans. It does seem to attract people to hit it. this is after I got rear ended from someone that didn't' have insurance, had a parts truck i snagged the bed from
  3. Picked up a VH45DE to put into it. I'll make a build thread once i actually start putting together everything Cost breakdown 500 300zxt minus engine/trans 425 vh45de (400 plus 25 core) 450 300zxt trans Hope to have everything for about 3k. To get wiring harness lightened flywheel clutch (have used one, may just get a new one though) adapter plate (engine 2 clutch) computer (going to get one reprogrammed already) Alternator, AC comptressor, etc Will have Craig from Craigztoyz.com to help with much of the wiring, and tips so I don't have to do things twice since he has done the swap into a few 300zx, 350z, and a RX7 that I know of.
  4. Should be good enough to be a daily, don't see a good reason on why not. Hmmm auto trans, may be the best bang for the buck... guess i could always swap it out later if I find a good deal one one... Did find a low millage NA 300zx engine for 400, plus a tt trans for 400 also on craigslist. Could just throw it in and call it a day. Any differences on wiring a NA motor in a turbo car? Computer? etc..
  5. Well i've had a Z31, and many 240z cars. Right now i've got only 2 240z, one with a LS1 swap that i'm collecting parts for but won't be till later next year before i get on it. I just picked up a 300zx turbo roller, interior is ok, needs a new hatch from rust that was under the tail, and the front needs to be painted. Got it for 500, figured the factory LSD is worth 1/2 of that. Would like to make it into a daily so I can sell my daily driver nissan frontier. When i got it last week figured i'd just throw in a vh45de motor, but now thinking of doing a lq4 instead. Since I have a LS1 sitting in a crate for my 240z, can I use it to fab up brackets for the lq4 engine? Also are there any 5-speeds that fits onto the lq4? Just thinking of saving some $, all the 6-speeds around here seem to go for 1500+ Breakdown on my thoughts VH45DE motor 450 Trans 500 (300zx) adapter 600 (plate plus machine work) 1k in misc stuff, (new timing belt, etc) LQ4 motor 500-600 Trans ????? 1k-2k in misc stuff, (computer, etc) Lots of pros/cons on both setups, If I do the lq4 setup, I can always make more than one set of brackets and send them off to get replicated for the community.
  6. You should get a cell phone! lol, looks good though!
  7. I hit the brakes and there is no vacuum assistance. At idle without hitting the brakes the engine sounds fine, if I hit the brakes the idle goes up. Thus I am assuming that the vacuum diaphragm has ripped or leaking. Could it be anything else before i take it out of my other 72 and put it in my daily. This would give me a excuse to get the Beta Motorsports one for my LS1 project Z What happened: Well here i am doing 85MPH on a 1 lane transfer lane from one highway to another, hit my brakes to slow down to not hit a mustang and find my brakes are no longer assisted. (took a sec to figure it out after the original panic) 15 years ago would have hit my brakes a lot later, which would have been bad! Thanks Phil
  8. More pics, now for the 5 lug conversion I am pretty sure that i'll have to do flares that i'm not to happy about, but should look pretty good. I have a Gnose front end in my attic i may though on at the same time.
  9. Well I bought these wheels for my orange Z, Sitting next to my friends stang..
  10. Found some nice staggered 350z wheels that I was thinking would look awesome on my 240z, anyone else done it? Only reason I may not do it is because of how wide they are, but if I could stuff them in the stock fenders it would be awesome. I may just be dreaming though, lol
  11. Looks like I will, been looking for info on it online with no success, so I may just have to do a "custom" setup. It will be a while before I do it, I have 2 many other projects to do first.
  12. My newest 240z stops fine, but not as fine as "I" would like so I'm going to move my toy 4-piston conversion over to that one and the 240z that i'm putting a LS1 into i'm going to do something bigger. A while back I got some AP 6-piston calipers and rotors for another project but going to go ahead and use it on the 240z. I guess I am going to go ahead and change it over to 5-lug so I will need to get some new aluminum hats for it (currently set up for a 6-lug 3/4 chevy truck)and see if I can get some brackets for it, or make them myself. Would love to see if someone else has put these on a s30 and have some pointers. This is the pretty much what I have to work with. Thanks Phil
  13. I was looking at the full caps for the s30 dashes and was thinking, can you just take out the factory one and use some mounts and just use it. Then there would be plenty of room to put a Vintage AC unit under it. It might be obvious that it won't work if it was in front of me, but its not thus my question to the experts.
  14. Think i'm going to take the toy front brakes off my orage Z and few other things to make this one stop better so then I have a excuse to buy some real big brakes for the LS1 Z Its my bday today and the g/f got me a couple of Z shirts, i have trained her well
  15. Just blew some money, so it will take longer to get some of the parts... But its ok I have another Z Just bought another 240z, its pretty awsome, but doesn't look well. Has tripple webers, recaros, and 3 pc 16" rims, i'll post pics friday or sat. (also came with a g-nose front end thats not installed)
  16. yea, it was 90 bucks on ebay so i grabbed it quick
  17. I need to get the accessory brackets for the engine I'm building. Any suggestions on year/model to start looking for? Just need ac and alternator. This one is from speedway motors for 159, http://www.speedwaymotors.com/LS1-Vortec-High-Mount-Alternator-Bracket,35274.html Thanks Phil
  18. that sux, i'm trying to sell some of my extra vehicles now so I have some extra cash to buy the conversion kit and misc other things. Anyone want a fully custom mini truck?
  19. Got some more stuff in for it today. T56, aluminum flywheel and clutch. Not sure about the clutch, very different from the old style i'm used to and don't understand it. Soooo much to learn!
  20. Don't have a bench to test it, should have asked before picking them up, but visually it looks good. I need to find out what oil pan and T56 to start hunting for. Found some that had measurements but nothing so far on what one lines up on the 240z. JTR headers should be in next week. Also was trying to determine which kit to go with for mounting the engine, jci or jtr. I have a fab shop and could just do it manually but would rather just throw a few bucks at it not have to actually engineer something that others have already perfected.
  21. 241 heads that are ported and polished, with larger intake valves, comp springs.
  22. Should be fine as long as yoru hitch is supported by enough of the vehicle to not rip out. I have some hot wheels from teh 80s that were of Z cars pulling trailers.
  23. Hope to get heads today or tomorrow, a local machine shop is fixing them up right now, they are ported 300cfm int and 230 ex at 575 lift which should help the 5.7L breath some, and will raise the compression a little. So far my expense LS1 shortblock 800 heads 1100-1200 coilpacks (free after i get the other stuff sold with it. Now just need everything else, haha Anyone use these valve covers, i think they look snazzy and the price isn't to bad.
  24. Well i've had my Z for 10 years, kept it mostly all "Datsun/Nissan" but i've come to the conclusion that i'm just going to go with a LS1 swap. I looked the Q45 swap also, which is very tempting (espcially since there is someone in town that does them turnkey for 3500) but then i'm still stuck with a good engine that i won't be able to play with as much as I like to, so LS1 it is. Today I bought a LS1 shortblock with 80k for 600 bucks, and bought stock coilpacks for 90, now just need all the rest of the parts and a t56, lol
