  1. These is a shop in Patterson/Pawling area that does mostly muscle car stuff and some exotics. Owner has a Z31 as hid daily driver and is familiar with older Z's as well. I think it is Mike's Body shop, Rt. 22 Very nice guy, easy to talk to. He is who I'm going to have do my Z31 paint resto when the time ($$$) is right.
  2. I know they get tossed in used all the time but has anybody had one rebuilt? Costs associated? Results when installed? Any tip/tricks/advice? I've searched and found self-rebuilds but I'm not going that route, neither the time nor tools nor the patience to pull it off. I've also found rebuild kits from various mfgr's, any one better than the other? Pardon me if I sound clueless, rebuilding trannies ain't exactly my specialty. And if you did and have a good shop in the northeast to recommned then don't be shy.
  3. Which casting is cracked, the compressor or turbine? Either way I have some nice extras I can part with.
  4. I assume you mean for the cooling section? The T3 oil feed and drains are a bolt on flange style -but- there is also a banjo bolt on the block side for the oil feed.
  5. Sorry to say but you have one of *two* remaining NOS axles shafts in existence. I have only one, but it is the proprietary longer one of the two. The other one (left side) is fairly common. *that was said with a smile and a wink, not sarcastically as it may sound!
  6. I've got one for you. I'm located in Danbury but work in Yonkers and can deliver. Its an R200 longnose from an 83 280zx. Fluid was clean, bought off of car but checks out OK. Was going to install a Nismo LSD in it but need cash for other projects. $140, does not come with driveshaft flange you'll have to reuse your old one. PM me for more details. I'll be in Yonkers almost every day this week except for Thurs so delivery is not an issue.
  7. I've always seen it said that you can get some spacers to adjust for the slack from a 10mm ring gear to the more common 12mm. Never saw any hard part #'s or pics so I decided to post up for those interested. Well, I ordered a set of 10 from McMaster-Carr and personally checked them by hand. Here are the specifics: McMaster Part #: 6679K14 Box Part #: PAP1012-P10 / 1650238 Price: $3 Ea. (QTY 10) rip-off! Material: PTFE coated bronze ID: 10mm OD: 12mm length: 12mm I test fit them by hand the fit is perfect. No slack whatsoever, tight yet enough clearance to thread freely and not effect torque measurements. They will need to be trimmed by a few mm in length. You could probably find them cheaper elsewhere but this was fast & easy and worth the rip-off price.
  8. I live near the NY border as well (Danbury Exit 2) and there is are 2 good local stores which may be able to help. There is Levine's Auto on South St. near the DMV, they've got a pretty impressive selection of oddball stuff. Also the is Axle's Foreign Car Parts on Rt. 37 (or 39?) on the way into New Fairfield. might be a good shot. Good luck and keep us posted how you make out!!!
  9. Perform routine maintenence first: Flush system, change thermostat, check rad cap, bleed air (all stated above). You'd be suprised what difference fresh coolant makes. What is the condition of the rad? If the coolant is boogery and it is the original rad it may be partially clogged. Next thing to check on is if the elec fan is rotating in the correct direction, seen them reverse wired several times. Next check your adjustable thermostat for the fan. Don't have one? Get one, it's adjustability will help the car to run more efficiently. Pusher type fans typically do not cool as well as puller types because they are an obstruction before the radiator cooling fins. Next thing to look into are blown headgaskets. Conisdering the upgrades done to the car it would be safe to assume that it wasn't gently treated, just a thought. Good luck! Edit: Another problem seen often is overheating due to a poorly located/angled intercooler. Try to relocate it or mount it directly onto the front of the rad (go w/ a puller fan). And some quick sheetmetal shrouding works wonders as well.
  10. I posted this on another forum and go no luck, figured I'd ask you guys here. I've got an opportunity to purchase a set of Turn Six front springs NIB for $80. I've done some googling but didn't come up with any reviews. Whaddya think?
  11. Been a while since I've been here. Sorry to resurrect this but if you need a CAS disc I have one and a good tested MAF as well.
