  1. So what I'm getting is that the LSx/auto trans swap should work with the R200 and stock half shafts. Heavier/stronger half shafts are availabl and may be needed later if there are problems. How I drive it will be a big factor. Any comments on how the car "feels" aside from the extra power (always good) but does it still feel like a "Z" ? My budget would be around 10K. Does it seem possible ?
  2. I am thinking of going the LS swap and have some questions. I would go with an automatic for2 reasons. One...I'm tired of shifting and two It seems like the auto would be gentler on the driveline. Now comes the real question. Will the R200 (3:54) rear end and stock half shafts hold up with am LS ? I do not intend to race the car. It will be a Sunday driver. I'm told the this engine weighs less than the stock Z and so the handling should stay the same . My concern is broken half shafts and other problems. Please let me know whatever you think. Thanks in advance.
  3. I have 2 sets of door panels. One is upholstered in black velour (sorry) the other is stripped. PM me with your email address if you are interested and I will send you photos. Frank.
  4. Here's my baby, I've owned her for 41 years. I'm about 16K into the restore, not much left to do.
  5. Here are two shots of my Z. One from 79 when I put the G-Nose & flares on and one fron 2013...I kept the G-Nose but got rid of the flares.
  6. Just street driving. I've owned the car for 40 years and early on I had a set of the original Interpart springs and a set of Koni's. Handled great but rode terrible and was too low. The front spoiler was always hitting. The current shocks I believe are made by Gabriel or Monroe. I got them from Sears and they are pretty good. Also guaranteed "for as long as yoe own your car". Sears is losing on that one. This will be the 3rd set going in as I've owned the car for 41 years LOL. The current springs are interpart circa 1980 and were the kind you cut to lower depending on the weight (front and back) of the car. My car weighed 1300 front & 1350 back. The glass G-nose weighs less than the steel bumper.. Anyway my concern is Motorsport has only the variable Eihbach. They appeal to me being supposedly softer riding until you get into it a bit but I've read some things that say there are problems. Just trying to get info.
  7. I just got these Konigs from Motorsport. They have an exclusive. They are 17" by 7" and fit with no spacers or fender mods. They look pretty good too. Tires are kuhmo 225/45. I tried to attach a photo but the upload failed. Don't know why.
  8. My 71 Z is ready for new springs. Motorsport has only variable rate Eibach springs. They sound good to me but I read some complaints about ride height being uneven (front higher). Anybody have experience with these? Any other sugestions ? All info will be appreciated. Thanks.
  9. Why throw them in the trash? I'm looking into replacing my 25 year old interpart springs and all MSA has are the Eibach progressive springs. Do they suck? If so...why?
  10. I got these 17" from MSA and they work really well & look pretty good too. I'm running 225/45 17 Kumho tires. I'm looking into new springs and all I found were the Eibach at MSA. I didn't know about the ride height problems.
  11. Thanks for all the info guys. I;m a long way from being ready to do this but I've learned that the r200 rear is O.K. so I'm guessing the LS engine & tranny will mate through the drive shaft to the r200. What I'm really interested in is how the car "feels" after. If the only difference is the extra power...I'm all for it. On the other hand I'm not looking to make a drag car out of it. I like the quick respone & the way it goes around corners. I have some other problems to clear up also. I just discovered that my rear wheels are not "even". That is the drivers side wheel is further out (from the center) than the passenger side. I get some contact on hard right turns. I will get into that next week. Anyway Thanks again for all the feedback and any other feelings you may have....I'd like to hear about it. P.S. The independent rear stays !!
  12. Thanks for the quick response Domz. I'm new here, where would be better to post this? Also, why did the LS engine cause you the raise the ride height?
  13. The shop that's been working on my 71Z is hot to put an all aluminum Chevy LS something into it. I rode in a V8 powered Z once and it was fast but didn't handle the same or "feel" the same. They are saying that the aluminum V8 is lighter than the stock Z engine & will not change the handling. Any feedback will be appreciated. I'm also concerned about the Z suspension and R200 rear handling the extra power. Let me know what you think. Thanks, Frank
  14. Pete, I got the panels Friday. they are really beautiful, beyond what I was expecting. My upholstery guy was imressed too. Saved me money. I would HIGHLY recommend these to anyone redoing their Z. Thanks again. Frank.
  15. Pete, I received the panels Friday. Thay are way beyond what I hoped for, really beautiful. The upholstery guy was really impressesd. Saved me money too! I would HIGHLY recommend these to anyone redoing their Z. Thanks again. Frank.
  16. Hey MrCleburn, thanks for the link. I used it and purchased a set of custom fiberglass panels from Pete. They are BEAUTIFUL beyond anything I expected. Saved me a bundle as they are already upholstered. I don't know why more people aren't using them. Even my interior guy was impressed. I would recommend them to anyone who is redoing their door panels. Frank.
  17. Ray, I'm very interested in door panels. I tried to PM you with my phone # but it didn't work. Please pm me with your phone #, I think it will be easier to deal over the phone. I'm in Camarillo, in Ventura cty. Where are you located? Hope we can help each other. Thanks, Frank.
  18. Does anyone know where I can get inner door panels for my 71 240Z. I'm hoping someone makes replacements. Thanks, Frank.
