Just south of Fort Worth there is a place called Motorsport Ranch. It is a motorsport country club. It is a beautiful 1.7 mile, 11 turn, course with full amenities, clubhouse, garages, etc. and you can buy lots and build homes with a view of the track. Then there is my place here in WA - 4 acres & 7-car garage within 15 minutes of a 1/4 track.

Do the cats act reduce the exhaust resonance inside the car? I've thought about putting a set on for that reason.

Phil - you know an LSD would take all the fun out of those burn-outs! Then again - a V8 in front of that LSD would make twice the smoke!!! You guys do make some really entertaining videos. I got quite the laugh at seeing the neighbor drive through the smoke right after the one burn-out.

Jody - really sounds sweet. Makes me want to get a better cam in mine. It's still stealthy at idle but really announces it's presence when stepped on. BTW - when I left Texas I took off the 280Z28 tags so you hold sole rights now. Bill

FWIW - my totally stock '98 LS1 makes 311 rwhp which maths out to 390 at the flywheel. It currently is rev limited to 6,000 but it's still winding like a son-of-a-gun when it hits the limiter. A cam and a little head work and it could wind to 6,500 and develop 390+ at the rear wheels. Guess it depends on how much HP you're looking for.

Joey, I know you've addressed this before - what mod's did you make to the LS1? Cam, heads, LS6 intake, 90mm TB? My stock LS1 is making just 311 RWHP so I'm curious what will give me another 100+ HP at the rear. Bill

Jon, If you haven't already try to work a home-owners warranty into the contract for the first year. I fought for that on this place and have used it twice - would have used it a third but he PO said the washer-dryer had a 3 year warranty so it was covered. Washer cratered, warranty was 1 year and now the PO is paying for the repair. At least he is honorable if not as smart as he should be. Also be sure you get the house inspected. It's amazing what those guys can find. Most contracts assume that the buyer will do that. My Po ended up spending about $6K to fix things that weren't right on this place.

A bit of feedback for y'all. As the prototype for the JCI LS1 conversion my car is still running strong. AC is great and al the other JCI components are functioning well. Thats after 4 years and about 27,000 miles. I am one satisfied customer.

Wow - it would be cheaper to ship it to the DFW area. I talked with a guy down there - one man shop - that does a lot of custom work on on the Acura NSX. He was getting repeat business and doing some pretty interesting things with them. He offered to repaint my car in the same color, fix a few small dings, and fully glass in the ground effects for $2,500. I should have had him do it while I was down there. His shop is in Grand Prairie at the NW corner of Great Southwest Parkway and Pioneer Blvd. Don't remember the name of it.

Yeah - it's all about the grade of materials and amount and quality of workmanship. It takes time to do a car right and that equals lots of hours and that really runs the price of a good paint job up. When I took mine in 10 years ago they tore it apart, redid the window & hatch seals, smoothed out probably 50 mini hail dents, repaired some rusty spots, installed the Aero II ground effects package from MSA and did the Cadillac pearl red paint with the white racing srtipe for $2,500. I'd hate to think what that would cost me now - especially since the paint is now 10 years old and needing to be redone. So Gary - Are you going to have it ready for the Mt. Shasta event this year?

Bryan, I'm a firm believer in heat shields. My exhaust fried the leads to my starter after a couple years. When you start sticking a V8 with duals under there all that extra room kind of evaporates. I've got a shield for the brake stuff on the drivers side, one for electrical and fuel on the passenger side and another for the starter leads. By the way - adding that magnaflow bullet was probably a good idea. It should reduce the resonance inside the car. Mine doesn't have that and I had to add a bunch of sound deadening materail to quiet it down inside. Bill

Bryan - looks really nice. It also looks like you have a reasonable amount of ground clearance. That system should work very well for you. The only prblem with wrapping the exhaust is that it will encourage it to rust out in that area. You might just try hanging a little heat shield between it and the slave cylinder.

I have the Nissan European spec springs on my car with KYB struts. The KYB's blew about 5,000 miles ago and the car currently slams & bangs when I hit certain bumps. I'm still trying to decide if I want another set of KYB's or the Tokicko's. I got about 60,000 miles out of the KYB's. They are the non-adjustable variety.

My LS1 ran the quarter in 12.9 - traction limited on launch running a single 2 1/2" exhaust. I have since opened it up to dual 2 1/2" but the car has gained 170 lbs so it's still probably slower.

Stony, Cost for the place was about 1/4 of what you'd pay in Alaska. This area is 70% more expensive than Texas but still a lot cheaper than many areas in the country. I've been told that this place is the prettiest in the county and I'm beginning to believe the couple dozen people that have told my wife and I that.

Yeah. The total area of the garage & apartment is about 2,500 sq.ft. The apartment is just a shade over 500 itself. The whole place is on four acres and has a 1 acre pond right off the back porch of the house. It's stocked with grass carp, bass, and rainbow trout plus salmon return twice a year to spawn. The rainbows are up to 24" long and weigh close to 5 lbs. In the winter the place is overrun with geese and ducks. In our spare time Chris and I hunt the muskrats. One side of the place borders the 9th hole of a local golf course so I'm starting my golf ball collection of those that have been hit over the fence into my front yard. The place is a lot of work but it's worth it. Wheelman - we're up Highway 12 toward naches - just behind the Suntides golf course. We're just over the hill to the West of Selah. I can be on 1st street in Selah from my place in about 10-12 minutes. You might get hooked up with the Yakima Valley Sports Car Club. They've been around a long time and have a lot of scheduled activites.
