  1. If you engine is sitting lower and further back then mine then your going to have to modify the oil pan for sure. I'm using the stock oil pan on mine. The auto tranny will allow you to hug the factory tunnel a little better than the T56 plus if you engine is sitting lower than mine then that's also going to give you the room you need. Back in 2003 I used a LT1 4L60E combo in my initial setup and with a little massaging of the firewall and the oil pan I was able to fit it in there. The reason I modified the firewall was to keep the swap looking clean and actually putting the engine where I wanted it which was as high and far back as possible to maintain ground clearance and have the shifter of the T56 come out in the factory location. To answer your question... no I don't have any real good shots other than whats in my build thread. Here is a pic of the 2 week swap I did in 2003... Kinda Sloppy!
  2. Click on the project link in my sig. Should help out a bit. Also look at the first thread in the Model specific section under Z32. Here is the link. http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/80113-z32-v8-genral-swap-information/
  3. I know the T56s are a little pricey but if your trying to make a daily out of it I'd throw a 4L60E behind it and call it a day. You can pick them up pretty cheap and it would fit a lot better than the T56. Not to sure on the 5 speeds but I'm sure someone makes an adapter plate for the T-5s. If your looking to make any kind of power over stock I would bite the bullet and get a T56 though. Good luck with the swap.
  4. Looking forward to see some progress on the turbo setup! You are giving me inspiration to keep mine and keep going on it.
  5. Nice, keep up the good work... that thing is flyin!
  6. I had the Autoair. I actually removed it from the car (mine wasn't intended to be a DD). If you were wanting to try and salvage it you would probably need to convert it to the manual air and use a lower profile system out of a smaller car or use one of the vintage air units... I know they make some lower profile units. If you want A/C without too much hassle you probably need to keep the engine as far forward as possible so you can utilize your stock stuff. You might even think about lowering the front crossmember a touch too to gain that extra bit of room (keep in mind this could create bump steer). I would inspect the air boxes and see if you have any room to cut on them and get that extra room you might be looking for. I've also enjoyed watching your hardbody conversion... neat project.
  7. Man that thing is killin it out of the hole. Very impressive!! Good ole 2 step. How much boost are you launching at?
  8. When I was running the T56 it pretty much came up in the stock location. Just be sure you can access the transmission bell housing bolts from underneath the car with a long extension and swivel socket. What you could do is put a long extension and swivel socket on the bell housing bolts and use that as a guide for your tunnel placement and just allow a few inches for manipulating. I was sure to allow for adequate room for removing the transmission.
  9. I believe all of the Z32 diffs are VLSD r200 and r230. To swap in the R230 you will need to pretty much get a TT rear sub frame, axles, drive shaft (r230 has a different companion flange), diff etc... I looked into this for a while and decided against it since the r200 seem to hold sufficient power and come in an array of gear ratio's like 4.08, 3.69, 3.54, 3.31 (I have seen a few of these but not very often)some of which require swapping of axle ends and drilling new holes in the companion flange to accept the N/A drive shaft. I won't get into the route I took since it's not a real feasible route for most people. Good luck! Dan
  10. Ok I just wanted to share a design I've been working on for the past year for a friend... between all the trial and error and fittment issues on paper I have 100+ hours of design and modeling in this piece. I'm really excited to share these pictures and I hope you enjoy! I'll take some more at different angles later on. Hot off the press as of 9pm last night. Enjoy!
  11. So I've been making a few minor adjustments to my build lololol... I change my mind like the wind. First it's time to make a little room for a distributer. Then well you gotta pull the engine yet again to make it pretty. Now we have some more progress... I'm selling all the engine management MS-II stuff and etc... to help pay for the blowthru conversion. Hopefully it will be back on the road soon.
  12. Here you go! I had to scan them in thats why it took so long.
  13. I would be interested in seeing those maps lol... as I still need to do some tuning and it sounds like a similar setup.
  14. Sorry for the delay I've been very busy this week. If you click on my build thread in my sig and scroll down a good bit there is a decent ignition map in there that should get you started. When I get the time this week I'll post up the tuner cats files.
  15. I need to stop being nice to these guys but I know how hard it was for me when I couldn't type lol... wait I still can't. So what you want to do is click this link and then follow all of the other links in that thread and read and read until your eyes bleed. Good luck! >>>> http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php?/topic/80113-z32-v8-genral-swap-information/ <<<<
  16. I have a stock fuel and ignition map from the LT1 that you can copy. It will take some work on your part but it should be a good start for you. It is actually the map I pulled when I was running tuner cat. You will need to do some math and figuring to keep it smooth but it should work for you. I'll have to put the maps up later since they are on my laptop...
  17. I'm sure the cost would be reasonable. I think the per unit cost was ~$25-30 depending on the order amount. If there was a large enough order I'm sure it would be in that range. I was thinking that if all of this got approved and we got a reasonable price $5-10 per unit could be donated to HybridZ so the total cost would be ~$30-40. I will send out a PM or two and see what process is to get something going.
  18. It wouldn't be a problem to add a sixth along the bottom. It is threaded on both sides as well and this was based on a design I did for a friend and wanted to keep it at 5 ports. Adding a port would also add about 3/4" to the piece but like I said it can be done. If there is enough intrest I can get a quote to have a run of them made but I would need to figure out what the process is to do that on this site.
  19. Here is an example of what it could look like...
  20. If I could get an OK from one of the board Admins I would be happy to get pricing for some HybridZ distribution blocks. I'm sure we would have to work out some fine details but that's easy stuff.
  21. Hey just wanted to show off some distribution blocks I designed and had made up for a friends shop... Enjoy. Maybe we can get some made up with the HybridZ logo... just a thought.
  22. I'm working on trying to get him to sign up over here and post a good build thread for us as this might be a first in the Z32... I hope that its ok that I post a link to this if not I guess I can work a little harder to get him to post his build thread here lol. Enjoy! http://zclub.nicoclub.com/zerothread/485062
  23. Alright! I have finally made some more progress this past weekend. I am really excited now so hopefully I can get this thing on the road soon. Here are some more pictures of the progress. I should have it back on the road next weekend WOOOOHOOOO! And finally in the car and running! Man I tell you what a spool is no joke lol. Its alot easier to just throttle around a turn then it is to hear the back end bind up lol.
