  1. I've also got the axles. Ended up the G35 axles worked out great. All I have to do is swap the right side axle shaft from my old set because it is a little longer(actually I ended up swaping over both axle shafts as they both were slightly different). the spline count going into the hub is the same and I couldn't be happier. Hope to have the rear end rebuilt and back in the car in the next few weeks... maybe sooner.
  2. Ok, I boxed in the subframe with some 1/8" plate and welded everything up. I still need to work on the girdle for the back of the differential but the front mount is good to go. The picture has an optical illusion and the holes look cocked but they aren't. I will keep the updates coming as I make progress. OH and sorry about the bad camera phone picture... Here are a few pictures of the diff all the way welded up... I've made some pretty good progress on getting the rear end setup and welded in place. I've still got a lot of welding to do but here are the pictures.
  3. Ok it's time to bring back the dead. I ended up taking an interesting route to achieve my desired gearing. I decided to modify the subframe to fit the R200 out of the 350z in true HybridZ fashion. I have been driving it around for a few days now and I must say the work was well worth it. Here are a few pictures of the route I took. Well one more thing to hold me back just a little bit longer till completion. I have been bouncing back and forth on what I was going to do for the gearing in the rear end. I have finally made a decision and I'm sticking with it... . I have decided to modify the sub frame to accept a 350z differential that so happens to have the perfect gearing (3.35:1) for my tire size I'll be running (26"). So far I have yanked out the sub frame and cut it up a little to make room for the wider footprint between the ears on the 350z diff. As seen below in the comparison picture. You will also notice the the height of the ears are different as well in comparison from the centerline of the pinions and this will also be addressed. 300z on the left and 350z on the right Here is the cuts I've made so far to make a little room. You can see in this picture the difference between the rear covers and unfortunately they won't swap. 350z left and the 300z right The plan here is to mill down the cover around the perimeter bolts so I can design a girdle to replace the missing mounting point. It so happens that the one bolt lines up perfectly and will provide a point of origin for the differential. Unfortunately this diff is an open diff and well lets just say I stopped at spools-r-us on the way home... and since this is not an everyday driver it will be fine for my application. No worries I still have a little more welding to do on that...
  4. Finally back on the road... Everything worked out great so far. All the work for the gear change was well worth it. I can actually cruise on the highway at 70 mph without turning 4500 rpm lol. Ok here is a picture of it installed. Here is a couple pictures of some of the ducting I'm working on. Good news is it works so I can start working on a permanent solution. It took a while to get the engine bay sealed off to create a low pressure zone under the hood. Temperatures stayed under 190 on the highway for an extended period of time so I think I'm finally there. Now its just time for some tuning and videos to come.
  5. Looking good! Looks kinda familiar just a different engine lol. Keep up the good work. Dan
  6. Also, I have seen the above happen as well...very sound advice. Good luck, Dan
  7. Alright! I have finally made some more progress this past weekend. I am really excited now so hopefully I can get this thing on the road soon. Here are some more pictures of the progress. I should have it back on the road next weekend WOOOOHOOOO!
  8. Awesome! That would be a neat function. Thanks Dan!
  9. Man, glad to here you are ok. I had a friends car do the same thing due to some of the wimpy fuel rail tie downs out there for the LSx cars. They seem to flex under pressure and then the injector pops out enough to spray fuel. His car was totaled unfortunately. Sorry for the misfortune.

  11. ^^^ Looks Good! ^^^ I think I've seen it on you tube doing a bunch of burnouts lol. Here is my work in progress!
  12. Just a small update! I'm waiting on some axles to show up and a few parts for the differential so I can reassemble it. I hope to have some real progress over the next few weeks so stay tuned for some pictures and hopefully some dyno videos will follow in the near future.
  13. Sweet! Maybe he can post up some pictures of his swap. I know I would love to check it out.
  14. Clean up on isle 7 please... lol.
  15. HM. To be honest I don't know of a shop that would actually be able to do that swap for $2500. It may seem reasonable but there are quite a few variables to take in consideration no matter what engine you choose. For example I have done a few swaps over the years and not one of them cost under $4000 by the time it was drivable and reliable and that is doing the labor myself. I may have done one a little cheaper but not much if at all. If you are seriously considering a swap in the Z32 you should do as much research as possible to determine your best route. If you look in the sticky at the top of this thread there is more than ample information to help you make a decision. I understand if you keep the stock tranny the back half of the swap is done but you still don't have mounts, no wiring (this is a big one) and no creature comforts (another big one) <--- that includes A/C, PS, Heat. You also need to determine if the radiator will be efficient enough and will it work in the factory location. Sorry for rambling... To answer your question about the transmission, I would think the stocker would be fine. Here to help! Dan
  16. Wow it completely fooled me. That launch was just too smooth, must be set up just right. Good work! On a side note I hope you get to keep the car... its hard to sell or even put a price tag on blood, sweat and tears. <--- I don't mean this in a disrespectful way. Dan
  17. WOW! I can't believe I missed this. I can't wait to see some hard launches on that thing. Again thanks for the motivation. I love the side pipes BTW. Dan
  18. Ok I'm biting on this one lol... How much tire are you running? What if any rear suspension mods are you running? That was just a great video hahaha. The anouncer was like "this should be a great match up" I even chuckled a little before you ran him thinking that's probably a stock GTR lol. Oh and what kind of 60' times are you getting? (<--- I'm guessing thats where your going to pick up some ET)
  19. HAHA I guess I should have clicked on that link or scrolled a little further into your videos. That thing is moving out pretty good. Yeah once you get to those predetermined barriers it just becomes more of a pain to go faster but hey safety first. I understand you wanting to keep it looking like a sleeper too. Hey it may just be in a straight line but thats still moving out. Congrats!
  20. Looks like a great setup! Very clean and compact design. Looks like it runs pretty well too. Do you have any of the 150mph passes on video?
  21. This should help ---> http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=150821 Click and read ALL the links in ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ thread.
  22. Sounds like it could be noise but it could also be in the tune. Have you data logged the stumble? Thats how I always narrow down where a stumble could be coming from. When there is noise in a circuit I have always noticed the RPMs bounce around but you will just need to check and see. I don't have much experience with the MS but I sure someone here might be able to chime in a help out a little more. Dan
