  12. Need some help guys, have been searching for a day and can't find a clear answer. I have been running a set of CV's and one is damages so I went to my "backup set". They seem to be too long. Both are 6 bolt type. From what I remember, one of my sets whas from a 280ZX and one was from a 300 ZX. Not sure which was which. Where there any 300 ZX halfshafts that had a 6 bolt pattern? Bottom line is I need some another set and not sure what to buy. Is there a good source for reman's? Other than that, am just curious as to what I have since the second set does not seem to work. Thanks Jeff
  13. JM, I have a spare dif on my work bench and want to check it as you recommend. Doing so, what is an acceptable amount of play or backlash? Thanks Hickl
  14. I looked at the bottom of some of my rockers, especially the one that came off, and there is no sign of any contact on the lower side. I would think it would show if it had ever hit because the anodize or whatever the coating is is visibly scuffed up on the tops just from the socket hitting them when I install.
  15. I was wondering why nobody had suggested stud girdles yet, I expected that right off. As far as checking rocker to stud clearance, how would you do that other than just rolling it over and watching. I don't see any marking to indicate that this was the problem, but at the same time, can not rule out that at 7000 rpm, these things are not flinging around more than at 50 rpm when I am looking at it.
  16. I checked the valve as soon as I saw the breakage and it was free.
  17. I have not had a chance to touch it since I got it home. The pushrod on this valve was fine (have not looked at the others). I am running some pretty stout pushrods. I just find it hard to believe I have a fundamental problem as I have been driving this car with this motor for a few years now. These heads are probably 6 years old or so. Will see I guess. I have to buy new studs regardless, should I just go with the ARP ones?
  18. Was pushing it pretty hard yesterday and all of a sudden, bang bang bang bang...etc etc. coasted to a stop expecting to be leaving a trail of oil. no trail. I figured I must have dropped a valve and was bouncing off the piston. Got her home today and pulled the valve covers expecting to verify my theory. Pulled the drivers side valve cover off and one of my roller rockers falls out on the concrete. Long story short, number 2 cylinder exhaust side rocker arm stud broken. In my limited hot rodding experience, I have never seen this happen. Is it common? Is it an indication of a bigger valve train problem? Could I be so lucky that my motor is not hurt by compressing a cylinder over and over without the exhaust valve opening? If all else is good, what studs should I buy? Running sportsman II heads with whatever studs came in them. Thanks guys Jeff
  19. G-force built my tranny. Yesterday I took it to a local T5 expert. Runs a mustang shop but builds these things all the time with G-Force parts. He thinks this was a fluke, maybe just a bad batch of material on my cluster gear. He feels, as we all seem to, that it should have held up to much more than I am throwing at it. His suggestion is to replace the bad gear and try it again. Am running a stock open dif.
  20. I just don't know if I can live without my overdrive. This car spends 95% of its life going back and forth to work. Most of that is 75 mph down the highway. I may be nearing that crossroads of being content with the speed and call it a daily driver or keep wanting more (as I do) and make it a race car...which will hardly ever get to the track.
  21. Will the tko's bolt up to the T5 bell housing?
  22. I have heard those things shift very clunky ish. Anybody got one that can speak up? I spent over 2K having my T5 built and that obviously was not enough so I may have to go there.
  23. Have not decided yet. I am with you on the love of shifting gears, won't seem like a sports car if it has an auto in it. Will see.
  24. I was actually on my skinny street tires and going about 50 before I started spraying.
