I'm thinking about an automatic to manual Transmission conversion on my 1977 280z 2+2. I'm not sure where to start. I was wondering what kind of transmission would bolt up without any adapter brackets. I want a 5 speed manual from a 1983 280zx. What more do i need then just the transmission. I know ill need the ecu, clutch master cylinder, clutch assembly. What else is needed? Is there room in the engine bay for the clutch master cylinder? Is the transmission for a 83 280ZX compatible? Will i need to pull the whole engine assembly out or can i jack it into place from under? And will the original drive shaft fit without any modification? Any helpful information is greatly appreciated. -S30kid

I have a 1977 280z that i have had for a few years. I just started working on it and getting it ready to drive. When i first got the car i started it up and drove it around the yard. The Air flow meter was bad but still putted around the yard just fine. It sat in my back yard for a year and a half and never got much attention. Just recently i tried starting it up and it didn't even try to start. No firing at all. I replaced some bad ignition wires with Accel 8mm Plug wire kit from Pep Boys. My fuel pump works, i can hear it kick on when i crank the motor. I checked all the spark plugs, one by one, they all spark just fine. What could it be? All my Fuses are brand new. New gas and good connections on the battery. I have Air, Spark, And fuel. That should be enough to get a rough idle. Pleas help i have been scratching my head on this for a while now. // Standard information of the car: It's a 1977 280z 2+2 automatic It is all original, no mods If Any extra information is needed on the car to better your understanding of my situation, Please just ask.

where do i get new ones? or can i make them with wire and crimp connections?

dear Hybrid Z, what is this and is it preventing my 280Z from Starting?

i need help with my AFM. i have a 77,or 78 (not quite sure on the year)280z 2+2. the mass airflow sensor was bad so i threw it out and got another one from a pick a part. well, i looked a little different then the one i had originally but i put it on and to no surprise. it didn't work. the new one is a 4 bolt. the sensor has been tampered with and is probably burnt out. now im looking around for new/rebuilt ones on the internet and ive come across a problem. Z Car Source has 2 types of Air Flow Meters for 75-78 Z's and 76-78 Z's. one is a 7 pin 3 bolt. and the other is a 7 pin 4 bolt. is there a difference? can i use ether or do i need a specific one? please help. p.s. im new to HybridZ so if this topic has been brought up or i seem repetitive please don't give me a hard time.

hey guys, i need help understanding megasquirt. i have a 1977 280z with a NA L28. i want to get rid of the MAF and install megasquirt with the o2 sensor in its place. how would i go about doing this, and are there any board modifications needed? please help. need my car running beautifully soon -s30kid
