  1. Wat speeds does it usually shift at? I still have the four gear transmission.
  2. That's just the thing. My RPM guage doesn't work. I have to shift REALLY early though. Maybe I'm just not used to the car. How fast does the L26 go through gears?
  3. HAHAHAHA! Sorry. I totally forgot! I have and L26 in my 240z. I didn't chose the swap, I got it like that. haha
  4. It seems that when I give my Z the WOT, it stops pulling during high RPMs. Almost like the engine isn't even pushing the wheels. I don't know if I'm just used to not as much power or if this is a problem. If anyone has any ideas on why this could be, please let me know. I appreciate all of your help.
  5. I have cleaned the ground wire that goes into the fender in the engine bay. Where are all of the others located? M1noel - Kim at Idaho Z has told me about your Z. I have ALWAYS wanted to see it. His Chevy 350 240z is my favorite around here so far. Maybe you could help me with the L28 swap when it is time. I'd love some help, and I'd love even more to meet some great Z enthusiasts.
  6. Most likely I will drop a L28et. The conversion was one of if not the cheapest engine conversion I could find. The L28et has power, and is capable of lots of power. I was going to go with a Chevy 350, but decided it would cost too much for my low budget.
  7. I got my 240z to start up today after trying some failed attempts to push start it, then finally just jumping the starter with a screwdriver. I drove it down my street, down to the lake and back. It seemed that it wasn't very responsive. Stopped gaining speed in upper RPMs but continued to rev higher, then I'd shift and it'd start picking up again. Weird. I'm not too concerned, gonna replace the engine anyways. The headlights won't turn on. The blinkers were working but then stopped. If i turned them on and pushed the brake in, the blinker would stay on, but not blink. If I released the pedal, it went back off. Ground Maybe? For anybody that followed my thread about the ignition problem, could this be related? Anyways, driving it still made me happy. I'll be replacing the floor boards soon. Then i'll be about ready to start on replacing the interior and painting the car. Then comes the engine.
  8. The wires all seem to be fine in the ignition. I cleaned the fender ground today, but haven't had a chance to test it out. I found out that some of the wires down by the fuse box were very poorly put together. Three wires were held together, not by a splice, but with tape, behind the dash. Then another two were held together by tape. I''m splicing the two tomorrow, but I don't know what to do with the three. Maybe all of the wiring is just poorly done. It's about now that I'm starting to wonder if it would be easier to put in a new wiring harness than to fix the previous owners wiring. haha I guess it's about time to take out the dash and start trying to straighten it all out. I'm fairly new to wiring so if there is anyone that lives in my area, I'd LOVE some help with all of this. haha Thanks everyone. Mauisnow13
  9. It wasn't the battery cables. I replaced them, and it still just clicks. I'm guessing that it is the relay? I'm back to where I started. It's the relay or starter I'm guessing. I guess it could just be faulty wiring somewhere. I have no idea. Any thoughts or ideas?
  10. I was thinking. Could it possibly just be that I need a new starter and/or selinoid? How can I check this? The reason I thought of this was because to start the car, we had to touch a flathead screwdriver to two screws on the starter/selinoid. Thanks, Mauisnow13
  11. So how do I find a bad ground? I'm pretty new to wiring. LOL
  12. Thank you Dragonfly. This is very helpful to me. I will try all of that immediately. Once again, thanks.
  13. All pictures of starter relays in 240z's i've found look nothing like mine. It's like a little metal box. Any help would be appreciated.
  14. So how do I find out if it is a relay problem? If so, what can I do to fix it? (I'm pretty new to wiring)
  15. It's not the kind of clicking noise like when the battery is low. It's more like a click when I turn the key to start, and a different click when I turn it back to on.
  16. My car won't start with the key. When I turn the key to start it, something makes sort of a clicking noise. I found out that this box was the thing that was clicking. It was screwed into the wall under the passengers side dash. Anyone know what this is? And can anyone figure out why my car isn't starting. It's not even trying to turn over.
  17. My car has been having some trouble starting. When I turn the key, I hear this thing make kind of a clicking sound. I have no idea what it is. Any help? I unplugged it from under the passengers side dash. It was screwed to the wall. Thanks, Mauisnow13
  18. I found out today that my 240z is sporting a L26. I know in the US it pushed less hp than the L24, but my engine was remanufactured by Goldstar in Japan, so I'm hoping it might have been one of the L26s from over there pushing 162hp. What do you guys think? Is there any way to find out? I keep finding out more and more about my #1542 Z.
  19. Oh, and the driver's side seat mounting brackets are damaged. Not from rust, just like broken. I dunno what to do with that yet. I might have to cut some out from another Z and weld them in. Any ideas?
  20. I've pulled up the carpet to see what was lurking down there. There were a couple spots where it had rusted through the floorboards. I'll most likely end up sanding all of the surface rust off from inside, then sanding away the edges of the holes till I hit sheet metal again. Then cutting away and welding in new metal where the rust is. Paint it all with rustoleum or rustbullet or something. I might just sand down all the interior and paint over it all just to help prevent it from rusting. The only places I've found rust was on the floorboards, battery tray and in the wheel well, which will probably be the hardest to take care of. I still have to straighten out the wiring. It'll be a project for me cause I'm not the best with wiring. Can't decide whether to do wiring first or rust repairs. I'll probably fix the rust first. I dunno though. What do you think? Any other opinions? Suggestions?
  21. haha yup. I need to get myself a garage spot. I won't leave my porsche outside and my Dad's 1965 Ford Galaxy is taking up the last spot. haha
  22. I posted it on the classicZcar site. What should I do to this car first? I believe I will repair the rust first. Or get the wiring straightened out then the rust. It's my first Z so I'm not really sure. haha. What do you guys think?
  23. Yes, it does have a manufacturing date of 1/70. I'll register it right away. It's exciting to know it's rare. haha.
  24. The VIN # is HLS30-01542. Why were you wondering? I also snapped some more cell phone pics of the car today. I got a couple of the interior also. Thanks for the link, I actually found that page when I was researching Z cars when I was just getting into them. Good Info. Here's the pics.
