I traded my cousin my turbocharger. I haven't decided whether I'll take his phone for it, or possibly a BOV. Anyways, here's the deal. We are using the turbocharger to turbo his Ford Bronco. He's done this before so it's nothing new, but there's a twist. We are setting up the turbo as a self-supporting turbo. No exhaust will be used. The intake will be hooked up to the compressor inlet, as normal. The compressor discharge will have a U-bend tube connecting it back to the turbine exhaust inlet. The turbine exhaust outlet will go into the engine. We're hoping the suction of the engine will start to spool the turbo, and the air passing the turbine will then begin helping the turbo to spool faster. We tried this theory out by sucking the turbine exhaust outlet with a shop-vac. It began to spin then started spooling up off itself, so we think this will work. I'll update with results and pics of the completed setup.

I'd like to paint my chrome trim black. I know some others on here have done this. I was wondering what paint I should use for this, what paint will stick and stay on? I don't want it chipping off and such. What paint (type/brand) did you guys find success with?

I know, it's great. Funny thing is that after all that hard work, I may end up painting the chrome accents black to go with my future color scheme. hahaha

No. All the metal stays shiny. I haven't really gotten it on the glass much, so I'm not sure. It just takes a little bit, and then the more you rub, the shinier it gets. I was surprised for Walmart Stuff.

I've been searching a lot lately, too. I got a bunch of free turbo stuff so I was thinking about doing a blow-through setup on my l26, but decided against it and to just drop an L28et. Thanks for all the help guys, I appreciate it.

So it would be better and safer just to drop an L28et then a turbocharged NA. Thanks for the help, that's what I needed to know. Also, is it true that they upped the hp output in '80?

I had just bought that uke at the time. It was a $400 8-string. I love the sound. I still keep my 4 string around though. haha

If you turbocharge an NA L28 out of a (let's say '80) 280zx, will it produce more power than a '80 l28et? If both engines are stock. I have seen hp ratings for the l28et at about 186, and the NA at near 170. It would make sense to me that running the stock 7psi on an NA would make more than 17hp. Right? Just a thought while I'm searching for an engine. I have searched this a couple times, but didn't find much. Maybe it's a dumb question, but I was just wondering. Thanks for all of the help

Except the top speed is limited to 111mph from the factory. There are companies that are starting to come out with programs to override and such. When the limiter is taken off, it has a top speed of over 190. NICE......

Yup, still got it. I asked if he could do some stuff to my z. restoration wise, and he said he doesn't do that stuff much anymore.....Everytime I've come to him for parts he always says he doesn't have them too.

It is called MAAS Metal Polish. I got it at Walmart, but it works great. It's with the cleaning supplies. I used it on my window trim and handles. BEFORE AFTER It still takes a bit of elbow grease, but it really shines afterwards. Try it!
