  4. I talked to toal seal today. I'll send the top rings back and they will send new top rings for a 3.395 bore so I can file them to fit. Thanks for the info. btw, this is for my 82 280zxt.
  5. I picked up my block from the machine shop. They only needed to hone it out .002. I bought total seal rings, the ring gap range for ea cyl is either .027 or .029. According to the book, my ring gap should be .014, total seal .014-.020. I was hoping that I would need to file the rings to the desired gap measurement. The final bore is 3.388, stock is 3.386 The total seal rings I bought, the 2nd ring is the gapless. The top ring is conventional. Any ideas, is this normal or should I call and get different rings? This was a junk yard motor with unknown mileage and i just wanted to do a stock rebuild. btw, nissan standard turbo rings are NLA. thank you
  6. The wheels were powder coated as well. They did a very good job with them. The cast aluminum wheels are not easy to powder coat. They have a lot of impurities in them. So there was a lot of out gassing.
  7. http://zdriver.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=51&thumb=1 energy suspension bushings tokico illuminas with springs powder coated parts bearings all 4 corners cv axel shafts limited slip diffy and brace so i could use the finned cover try it again
  8. How long are the private messeges supposed to stay in the out box before being forwarded? Thanks.
  9. After making my test tool, to see how it would work. I decided to make it from the good stuff. The only thing I was looking for were the connecting nuts(longer than normal). Following a tip from TonyD I found them. PARTS LIST Hardened 12x1.25mm all-thread flat bearing 2 hardened washers big washer(from my energy suspension bushing kit) bronze flange bushing 1" id pipe flat washer, to weld inside one end of pipe 2 connecting nuts, nissan lugnuts for use on mag wheels. cut the round end off, and clean up the threads. they go all the way thru. For a pic go to zdriver photo galleries, then search for my name
  10. Have pics posted on zdriver. http://www.zdriver.com/rides/detailride.php?vehId=433 It's pretty simple and it worked for me.
  11. No pics yet, I had just finished it today. Looking at dan's removal tool, I don't quite understand how it works. At least looking at the one pic I have seen.
  12. First experience with these things, wasn't so bad. I pounded the first one out, mushroomed one end a little. Nothing running a die over it won't fix. Second one, I decided to make my own tool. Less than $10 in parts, a welder, 10 mins of wrenching and the second one is out. I know dan bethae ( ?? ) makes a tool, although he is out of stock right now.
  13. You might as well have the parts sand blasted and powder coated. Find a place that does them both, should be a bit cheaper.
  14. This is the one greg kring uses. It looks alot cleaner than the aluminum one I have seen. It's not msa. Modern motor sports maybe? http://home.flash.net/~joeao/greg/lsdpics/lsdbrace.jpg
  15. Suspension work. Have a complete 240 suspension package, going to replace bushings, springs, shocks, etc, etc. Have all the springs removed and one of the spindle pins (mushroomed a little on one end, but still good enough to use again.). Will sand blast all parts and paint, At least they will look pretty going on. Things going back on. Tokico illumina suspension package(springs and illuminas), energy suspension master kit, cv joint swap, lsd rearend, and 5 spd. Does anyone know how I can get a hold of greg kring?? He has a brace for the finned rear cover on the lsd, looks a lot better than the one motor sport(??) sells. Darrel 82 280zxt 4 spd auto 73 240z
  16. If you are able to reuse the pins, buffing them is a good idea. But also there might be a "bump" near the lock bolt area. You might need to take it down with a file. Darrel
  17. They are pretty straight forward. If you have torn into an air tool, that's all it is. The tank is held in place with an allen head bolt, not sure of the size. Nissan does have a seal kit for it. Not sure of the part numbers. Comes with seal, o-rings, snap rings, bearing, lock nut and washer. Cost about $15us. Just have a large bench vice and an assortment of deepwell sockets. Darrel 82zxt 4 spd auto 73 240z
