  1. That CL ad is not a stroker crank, if it was it would say VO7 on it.
  2. Just asking, is there a difference between turbo and N/A injectors?
  3. Before I disassemble the rear hub, anyone know how long of SS brake lines I need for the rear disc conversion? 280zx rotors/calipers and maxima brackets
  4. It is on the correct stud. I changed it when I tried the 4-wire tach I bought and had no luck either. The original stock tach in my car is a 3 wire, the 280 is also a 3 wire tach and that one is currently working outside of the tach housing that is in the video. I think the metal tach housing has to be grounded also. Thanks for helping
  5. Those are hooked up correctly, this vid was a 3 wire 280z tach, same as my stock 73 240Z except light bulbs were on the 280 harness
  6. Link on youtube to my tachometer guts from the 280Z working, power and ground hooked up directly to the battery and tach signal hooked up to the negative side of coil. When I put the guts back into either the 240 or 280 tachometer, I cannot get the tachometer to work.It has to be a ground issue????
  7. My coil has a condenser on the positive side that is mounted to the coil bracket, I was told this was for noise reduction in the car speakers
  8. Anyone know what condensor and where to buy it ? Goes on the signal wire to adjust the signal
  9. Did the 4th gear drop and it went into reverse "better". I think Zmanco is correct about the clutch not disengaging. I just put the engine and transmission in a couple months ago and have not really driven it yet. I will adjust the slave cylinder and clutch pedal next.
  10. My tranny grinds when trying to shift the transmission into reverse, all other gears shift smoothly. Is this an easy fix or is the tranny on its last leg?
  11. Are you running carbs? 2 1/2 turns down from flat on the bridge if you have SU's, that is the "stock" setting.
  12. Where did you get that condenser?
  13. That's part of fun though, Working on old cars
  14. Im gonna try a 4 wire guage, and run all new wiring.
  15. Good write up, I am buying the conversion plug from MSA to make it easier to install on my 73
  16. Good, glad to hear that. The offset would be the other question, but I can determine that before doing the conversion, and of course the length of SS brake lines that I will need.
  17. Im doing the 82 280ZX rotors/calipers and early maxima brackets rear disc conversion on my 240Z. To those that have done this, what minimum size rims can I use?
  18. I would go get one from a parts store that has been rebuilt, I just went through this and 40 years old is 40 years old.
  19. Spoke too soon, not working now. I got a working gauge in the mail, the 40 year old wiring must be frying my tach.
  20. Well after a few hours of checking wiring from the stock harness, switching out the 240 and 280 tach's, I finally got the 280z tach to work. I ran jumper wires to the +12v and a ground to the back of the tach, got my signal wire from the negative side of the coil, and the MOST important thing is to make sure that the mounting post are grounded as well, as soon as I did this the tach worked, even though it jumped around a bit, but I can put in a resistor on the signal wire for that. Thanks for all the knowledge who replied to this post. Oh yeah, the 280Z tach had the same hook-up that the 240z tach did, wiring harness was different though.
  21. Cant wait to leave work now!!!!!lol
  22. My car is a 8/73 240Z, I will try that tonight, betting that the tach was replaced over the years...thanks.
