  1. Mckinney motorsports. The tranny mount kind of sucks though, might make a new one
  2. cool by me, car is in the shop anyway thanks again,
  3. great I really need one, Will it be the same with the rear sump pan u think? I would imagine so...
  4. I need to know how long the dipstick is on a rb20det. Mine got lost in my 1 1/2 year swap. Or if anyone has one let me know... Just need something ASAP and might need to hunt the nissan parts bin, ugh!
  5. I found that too, but it is adhesive backed and really shouldn't be used on interior panels. The claytonmachine stuff is fairly cheap, I just ordered some for a 63 impala interior I am doing. I will see how it looks and let everybody know how it works.
  6. Finally i found some perfect chrome trim (its actually polished aluminum) http://www.claytonmachine.com/prd2_trim.html
  7. especially the ground from the motor to the body. If it is old you might want to upgrade to at least a 8 ga wire. If you don't have any wire just go to any stereo shop ask them to make you one, just try to keep it as short as possible.
  8. Triple check all of your grounds, I have seen this problem a million times and it almost always is a poor ground connection. You will have a ground connecting through a small piece of actual metal or corrosion, and when you go to pull 100 amps through it, it will literally melt off... That is the popping sound you are hearing (it works the same way a fuse does when you think about it).
  9. the old thread on nico: http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=345737
  10. I was going to run MS on mine, I had it wired in already actually. But I reallY did not like the EDIS driven ignition and crank trigger. And I did not care for the idea of the open source code. I just wanted a system that was easy to tune and installed only the way it was meant to be. Rather than jumping wires across circut boards and stuff. I am just lazy i guess, and the megasquirt was a little too involved. Oh, and kudos to you on that swap, I read your thread and it was killer!! The intake was a BITCH!! I have about 5 hours of cutting and shaping that damn thing. I have some more detailed info on it on nicoclub.com if you search. But I do love that thing, everyone thinks that it is just latinated over alumminum but it is solid CF (the shell anyway). If you want to make one I can help you out and you can benifit from my mistakes. you obviously have the fab experience, and it really won't be too bad. There are just a few tricks to it. Let me know
  11. update: Got my SDS EM-4f last week and got most of it done. I was not able to retain that Coil on Plug ignition set-up unfortunatly. But once I got the GM coil pack in and wired, It actually looks kind of BA. Car is getting dropped off for intercooler piping and exhaust made on Tues. I will post up some pics soon. Anyone here running SDS on a RB?? It would be sweet to get a base map and get this thing started in a couple weeks!!!
  12. I get it from a plastics supplier in the twin cities, Cant recall the name off the top of my head. I know for sure that you can get it from www.mobilesolutions-usa.com But it is more expensive, brian the owner is a good guy. I have been to a couple of his trainings and he is the one who showed it to me. Otherwise I would check with some local sign shops, they use it as a lightweight backing for vinyl signs. I know it comes in 1/8" and 1/4". Keep me in the loop if you can find some of that trim, I still cant. I have some similiar pieces from a 63 impala ( That I am sure that it came off of) that I will post some pics up when I find the cord for my iphone. It is 1/2" wide and has a slight concave V shape.
  13. the sds uses all of its own sensors (they might be GM???). It seems really easy to install. It will allow you to drop the MAF and the CAS. And you don't need a laptop. I had a megasquirt and it seemed like it would work, but not very well with the RB.
  14. not to bad, but I have a SDS stand alone going in so it had to be done. the headlights and blinkers were the hardest part. Painless's wiring diagram leaves a lot to be desired
  15. I sunk chridtmas tree clips in under the foam and suede and the instert. Drilled the panel so they would puch through and then melted the ends over. So the instert can be changed if needs be. I need to pull one off so i can put the window track in, I will post up some pics. And no, I still cant find a place to get any of the chrome. I did find a set off of a 63' impala, they are a little bit different though. I has a slight v to it and is a little bit wider. So I think that they might have been off the 69' charger. Which will make it even harder to find... sorry. but the impala trim is probably the best bet.
  16. The corrado seats are great, but they were a total bitch to get in there. I had to strip the seat of all the factory mechanisms, and weld on the old seat brackets. then the seat was too tall in the car so I had to cut the factory datsun brackets out and drop the seat down. the cutting of the corrado seats was the worst of it...
  17. some sort of panel bond the 3m rep recomended, what they use to hold on bmw roof skin
  18. yeah, they were a total bitch to get in
  19. Well after a year and a half I am getting somthing done it feels like. Just scrapped the mega squirt project, and bought an SDS, seems to be a much easier choice. Rb20det custom 6 into 1 exhaust man t3/t4 .60 ar turbo precision intercooler custom fuel rail DSM 450cc inj custom intake manifold 3" downpipe (and exhaust coming soon) SDS stand alone (in the works) Painless wiring harness VW corrado (factory recaro) seats working on the black leather interior with grey alcantara suede pics let me know what you think/ suggestions old wiring harness painless new redone door cards and side panels corrado seats rb first dropped in some manifold build pics old junk one some guy made for me (yuck) nice shiny CF most current pic of the engine Trying to have a nice streetable 280-320 HP... I am a little questioning of the intercooler now, any thoughts... some plumbing coming soon, NEED to be back on the road when the snow melts
  20. I owned a stereo/ upholstery shop with a friend for a couple years. And now I do custom interior/ stereo work for a bunch of the pro athletes(this is why I have trim for 64' impalas and 69 chargers just lying around...) Mostly just the MN Vikings, but some others ship their cars in for us to do them. Check out my/our work on www.ac-mn.com web site is kind of stupid, I don't know who the hell they had do it.. So if anybody else needs fiberglass, carbon fiber, plastic, leather, blah blah blah advice give me a shout. I am in the garage all day today finishing up the painless and laying some carpet (no pun intended).
  21. Sorry I don't. But here is the how I did it: I took the old vinyl off and cut around the "insert" in the middle, and transfered it onto 1/8" sentra (a low temp heat formable plastic, the stuff they print signs on. It is a interior fabricators best friend!!!!) Then mounted that to the door card where it should go. Next I took 1/4" closed cell foam and covered the whole panel sans the piece i cut to create a recess. Then started wrappping the outside in leather and then the insert in Alcantara suede. I was going to put the diagonal stiching in, but decided that it would not look right with perferated suede. Put the chrome trim the same line that was there on the original. Riveted back on my beat up fuzzy strips, and let r' buck!!!
  22. found some trim from a sim-con top (aftermarket softop) but it is a little wide, around 3/4". My guy here said that may have been off of a 69 charger we did but he does not sound sure. I have been all over year one web site trying to fin something that will work but no luck. I will keep hunting...
  23. Sorry guys I have been balls deep into a painless harness for the past week or so. I would be willing to do some panels for other people if you guys are interested. You just would have to have door cards that are in good shape and know what material you want. They are a little tim consuming but if a couple people wanted to send me all of them at once, I could do some sort of group buy i guess. The only problem I could see is the chrome trim, as I found the impala trim sitting around the shop. I found some more chrome trim from a company called Clayton Machine (claytonmachine.com). But it was a little pricey. I will do some hunting on the impala trim. Probably 250 a set. plus what ever materials you want. leather, vinyl, etc. In all vinyl it would only be about 30 bucks anybody that is interested PM me and I will see what I can do. I will try and take some better pics tonight.
