  1. Actually that is the piece I like the most. It is actually a piece of metal trim off of a 64' Impala 2 door. The chevy trim is real metal with metal teeth in the back that I drilled through the panel and then bended over. It worked out perfect. I tried to find a piece of readily available trim everywhere but no luck. I just cut it to length bended over and polished the end. Did the same on the rear cards in front of the wheel well.
  2. I made some new door panels for the S30... Wrapped in Caprone black leather and Alcantara suede insert. Let me know what you guys think, oh an sorry about the i phone pics... (good camera got stolen)
  3. Does it run yet?? I am doing megasquirt on my rb20 and need a base map... If you can help let me know. I have the exact same Z.
  4. Too much is a matter of opinion, but it will be loud as hell for 1 sub. With the reflection off the glass I think you will be happy with it. As long as u don't mind giving up the space for the larger box a larger sub takes.
  5. Hey I never intended to be, my camera is dead otherwise I would put up some more build picks. I am the Custom install manager at AutoMotive Concepts here in MN (www.ac-mn.com has some pictures up). I do all of the stereos for all of the Vikings and T-wolves. So I have had a lot of fiberglass fab experience. I just decidced to try and apply some of the to this manifold. So if anybody has audio questions I can help.
  6. All good ideas. I had already be looking into "Plan B's" if the seal fails. I want this thing to hold at least 30 psi, before i would consider selling any. I am right now changing the edge of the base plate to allow for a stronger bond between the CF and the AL. But all we can do is try it and see. If I got enough demand I would defininately have the plates machined next time. I don't know if any of you have ever tried to cut 1/2" alluminum with a router table, but it kind of turns into A WHIRLING CYCLONE OF DEATH!!!! I think I almost lost a finger like 8 times, (and almost lost my ability to pro-create, took a low blow with a 10 lb chunk of AL!!!) Well hopefully I will have the testing done over the weekend... Hey I am looking for someone in MN that has a running RB20 to test this thing on!!! I will pay for the dyno pulls before and after!!!! And sell them this one at cost of materials only if they want it. Anybody that knows anybody let me know
  7. Well hey guys I really appricate the comments. I did not really know what kind of response I would get to this... First I would not feel comfortable selling any of these until I get a chance to pressure test the housing. All of the info I have been getting from my 3M rep says she should hold no problem (the "glue" from the AL to the CF). But I would feel like an ass if I sold one and it blew up!! But as long as that holds with no issue; I am not sure yet how much one would cost, they take some time to build and the carbon fiber is not real cheap. For an RB20 I am thinking around 550. But don't quote me on it just yet. Like I said I had not put that much thought into it untill today. An rb25 one will be a little bit different so I will need an intake manifold from somebody. A couple of people have shown interest in sending me a l28et manifold to look at. And who ever sends me either one of these would get a killer deal on the new manifold. Because all I need it for is to make the prototype templates. Anyone interested PM me... And again I would really like to find somebody who lives close to me so I can offer some support. I would even be willing to pay for the dyno runs, before and after! My friend owns a shop in town with a Mustang AWD dyno. Let me know... D
  8. Well lets find someone to donate a old l28et intake manifold to me in the name of science and I will get to work!!! Its a lot more fun than working at my job anyway!!!!
  9. I am up for it on anything I would need to see the factory manifold and come up with some ideas... email me some pics and I will see what I can do... DanP@ac-mn.com
  10. So I was wanted to have a custom upper intake plenum made for my Rb20det. I had the fabricator who did my turbo manifold and piping make one and it turned out like this: It kinda looked like ♥♥♥♥... It was built off of the original flange from the stock upper and built outwards. The throttle body would not fit without pounding down the upper water pipe. Not ok... So I decided I would give it a shot. Let me know what you guys think: She is one of a kind!! I started with a 1/2" plate and shaped it to the correct position. (the shape follows the fender well in my s30) Next I made the throttle body plate and attached it at the appropriate angle to allow the factory throttle body fit (without pounding anything) All of the alluminum work was done by hand, working from wooden templates and hand routering the alluminum (you need a really strong router!!) I then constructed a chamber from carbon fiber (its is real!!) I had to use a special resin do deal with the heat. Rated for up to 280 degrees without heat deformation. And here is the finished product: The vacume ports come out the bottom (like the plazaman) to keep a clean look. what do you guys think??? I was thinking about offering these for sale but I don't know if anybody will be interested... I would like to get a couple out there first... If anyone is interested send me a message I would like to do one for a rb25 as well. If someone is near MN I would be willing to do it for basically just materials to get the templates made... I will post up a in car picture tonight... Peace!
  11. Well I got it wired up and going to give it a shot... If my intake plenum was ready it would be ready to fire up here pretty quick... Or at least try to... So if these coils don't work, is there a COP set up the DOES work with EDIS?? I thoughtI read somewhere that the mustang had a COP set up that was EDIS friendly?? I just really dont want plug wires showing on the RB!!
  12. They both seem to be the same .8 ohms between 12v feed and trigger wire...
  13. Can i use the EDIS 6 module to trigger my factory RB coils? This would be really nice if possible. Just to keep from having to route bulky plug wires in the engine bay...
  14. Well that is very re assuring! I have really taken a lot of time in planning this build and just want everything to be done RIGHT. And For the price I don't think i made a bad choice with the megasquirt (at least not yet anyway). On a positive note I picked up an entire EDIS 6 setup from the junk yard for $25!! I have now started the wiring process and am getting a little frustrated. Mainly since my fabricator has not yet finished my upper intake plenum yet. Hey "1 fast Z", you ever installed MS on the RB? If so, any pointers? Thanks
  15. About how much are people paying to have a machine shop mount there trigger wheel to the crank pully?? Now that I have been talked into the EDIS I need to get it done. thanks, D
  16. Well that sucks... can i retain the stock COP??? or am i still going to need the ford coil pack?? I am just trying to make this look as clean as possible. When I figure out how to post some pics, you will have to let me know what you think...
  17. I am doing a rb20 build in my 73 Z, and was talked into the megasquirt. I am trying to avoid using the EDIS 6 set up just to keep the engine looking clean. I was told that there is a way to make the Cam Angle sensor act as a trigger for the MS??? I opened the sensor up and it is a window style optical sensor, like what is found in some of the other z's distributors. But, the windows are all different lengths!! I read that people have acomplished this with some other mitsu sensors (from a 1g eclipse) but it looked their windows were all the same opening length. Was even thinking about trying to find a sensor from a mitsu truck (v6) or a 3000gt to see if it would bolt up and have standard openings??? I am new to MS and have been researching a ton but cant find anything... Or do you guys think I should just bite the bullet and get the EDIS??? Thanks,
  18. they do bubble quite a bit but the beam on the H2 do work quite well. I just thought that they could look pretty sweet...And I did not try the "ebay specials" but they oem GM h2 lights light up the road very nice. Especially over stock sealed beams. Next time these HID's come through the shop I might have to do a quick "test" and post some pics...
  19. I did a search on this and didn't find anything so if everyone already knows this take it easy on me I'm new... Headlights out of a Hummer H2 bolt right up in s30 housings. all you have to do is cut out the back for the harnesses. The chrome ring even goes back on. And the beam pattern is sweet too. One really cool thing is that if these fit, the HID kits for the hummer should also fit right in. I work for a custom shop in town and am going to check next time we have some in. But you can see the HID on the hummer at this site. They would look sweet behind the plastic headlight covers...
  20. The carpet padding you are talking about is called "Joot" pad. It is the 1/2" to 3/4" pad. It wont deaden too much noise out, but it does make you carpet feel nice... They do have different densities you can try www.miamicorp.com they have really good prices (at least if you are shop)...
