  1. I can vouch for that!!, we've just topped 1000whp in our RB30 240z (8.36 on the 1/4) and even at 750whp it was a real handfull on the street. 500whp is plenty for most people. Rob
  2. Cheers Stony. We havn't touched the suspension settings in the rear but we did install new front shocks but havn't done anything with them either, just bolted em in and "they'll be good to go" lol. I'm sure there's gains to be made in alot of areas in the car but we will always make just one change at a time and do a few runs to see if a pattern develops otherwise you can find yourself going slower. We went from 8.7 on a good track to 8.3 on a poor track with 1 very minor change, if only it'll be that easy from now on, lol Rob
  3. The wing has made the car far more stable, we didn't have alot of wing angle but we'll play with it some more at the track next weekend if top end traction is a problem. Rob
  4. Here's a pretty poor video, I'll get some more up here as soon as I get it. Rob
  5. Haha, you know I reckon your right, looks like we'll hang on to it and go for the 7 now, the jump from 8.7 to 8.3 was pretty easy, I know the next 3 to 4 10ths will be harder but we'll give it our best shot. How much you offering???
  6. FINALLY got the trans sorted, tyre shake gone, 60fts improved straight away, high altitude, damp track (been raining all morning), backed off early due to slippery top end 8.36 @ just 163mph. Can't wait for the good sea level strip next weekend. http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/109998-rips-rb30-street-engine-runs-8-36-petrol-1-9-bar.html Rob
  7. I'm not quite sure how I got cought up in the above, but I assure you any information I give will be from experience and totally in good faith. I had no idea how old the thread was (and I don't even check tbh) it just seemed to me that such a simple item to get like a RB30 piston was being made out to be far more complicated than it need be. Synthtk, if you want some correct pistons and any other RB25/26/30 parts for that matter, e-mail me rips@inspire.net.nz and i'll be more than happy to help if I can. Rob
  8. Fair comment, but surely by the time you muck around doing all this extra work it would be easier to just import a R33 RB25det box (or several of them and make them available) Whats a VG converted to RB 2wd box owe you including all your time to swap it over?? Rob
  9. If you'd like some answers, list them below and I will only answer if I am 100% sure I am giving you correct information. From what I read above, there's still a hell of a lot of missinformation or you guys sure like doing things the hard way, lol. Here's a couple of basic's for ya.......... If you want a 2wd transmission for RB20,25,26,30 in a S13,S14,S15,A31,C33,C34,R32,R33,R34,240z,260z etc and you want something that can cope with up to 600hp pretty easy, go with a stock R33 RB25det box, it bolts straight up to the motor, uses the same starter etc etc. Then................use a RB20 or 25 flywheel (any model, and there are no pull type RB25 flywheel/clutches as far as I am aware)....or R32 RB26 flywheel as they all take normal push type clutches, just be sure you get the flywheel that takes a 9 1/2 in clutch and it has 9 bolts holding the clutch cover on (some RB20s had a 9 in flywheel and a 6 bolt cover) Then............use a normal push type R32 release bearing or whatever bearing suits the clutch you get. Its so simple its not funny, why mess around with a VG30dett box??? If you have any other specific questions, go for it. Rob
  10. 1 bar = 14.7 psi so an 8.90 was run with 20spi no NOS and a real slow 60ft on DOT tyres.
  11. On this dyno run the shot is held all the way but I havn't ever used NOS all the way in a run at the strip, I have held it just as I let go the transbrake but then I've always let it go once on song in 1st and I have never used the 6 port NOS on the dyno or at the strip, don't know why we fitted it really, must have looked cool at the time and maybe we thought we would need it at some stage, lol. I'll try using the little shot all the way if I can stick it to the track next time out. I'm just hoping we do go quicker so I can watch the non believers scratch their heads as to where all the multi port NOS and my "advantage" has gone, lol. Rob
  12. Alot of people thought the only reason we got the times/results we did was from using lots of NOS so we pulled off all the 6 port NOS system before we went on the dyno, if it aint there we can't use it. I have always had a 50 which I use on the transbrake and on the dyno run above, it was used to get things going nice and early but it made very little difference to peek whp. Rob
  13. We went to get some suspension work done but to establish the best settings the power output needed to be checked. It was great to go on another dyno and have another totally indpendent person run the car up (He happened to be a staunch V8 supporter but he also runs a pro import 7.6 sec supra, go figure!! lol) 1st gentle pull to warm up etc, 1.8 bar, 750whp @ 6500rpm Another pull at 1.8 bar made 937.82whp by 7910rpm We ran to over 8500rpm on another run with more boost and power was still climbing very well at that point so I'm happy that our race rev limit of 9300rpm is about right at this stage. (no details on this run, lost the papers ) The dyno operator confirmed the same flywheel hp numbers we had expected so I was very happy with that but I won't get into what he said power losses through the auto and rear end were, 937whp at low boost and low rpm through a dirty old TH400 is good enough for me. We'll probably run 1.7 to 1.8 bar and work on suspension and chassis geometery to make the most of it before we wind it up anymore. Rob
  14. Or when using a RB20/25/26/30 why not just use a R33 RB25det tranny, a RB26 flywheel and push type clutch and save yourself a hell of alot of trouble, all bolts straight up without mixing parts. Rob
  15. Well, after much discussion we decided the best way to cure our traction problems was to reduce power and go back to what we knew, so out with the water to air intercooler and back in with the old air to air, keeps the car looking much the same and at least when we sort out the 60fts and the wing we can look to up the power again.......
  16. Allready sorted, I'll have 2 here in the morning and another is on its way. Just in case you need any more little bits and bobs added to the order, we'll wait till we are ready to ship back the sump etc and we'll have a final tidy up then, hows that sound? If you or anyone else needs anything put in with your order let me know, we have RB parts oooozzzzing out everywhere, lol. Rob
  17. There's one on the 2nd Jan that we'll be at all going well, Rob
  18. Next outing is a big competition meeting, not this weekend but next. I sure hope it doesn't take long to sort it out and to get some power back into it as there are going to be some seriously quick cars at this meet, Rob
  19. If your not in a hurry I should be able to sort it out for you and send it back along with the sump etc. Rob
  20. I'm sure I could to, send it over, lol. Whats it suppose to be rated to, 2000hp? Do they do a bigger one? haha
  21. Here's the wing and the parachute pack all finished: [/img]
  22. The wing has been set with about 4 degrees up slope for now, general information suggests we might get about 25 pounds of downforce per degree, I'll start off high and work back down and see how it go's, the wing is fully adjustable and by altering the 4 rods that go down to the bumper we can also change the profile/shape of the rear of the wing if we want. The parachute mounting plate isn't finished in those pix but we have moved it from hard against the body to almost flush with the rear of the wing and angled it up slightly so it deploys upwards into the airflow more than it did before. I'll get some more pix once its all finished, Rob
  23. paypal rns@inspire.net.nz then e-mail me rips@inspire.net.nz and I'll have one made and on its way to you next week, I have a rear pan RB in a 240 so it won't be a problem Rob
