  1. Hahahahahaha, yeah, I can still get a case of beer in the back if I need to:grin:
  2. We've finished the wing and it'll be interesting to see how it goes, we are by no means "wing experts" and basicly we looked at alot of pictures and got some basic guidance from a couple of guys. [/img] Hopefully we can get some grip and start to wind the power back in, ROb
  3. The main wing mounting point is turning out to be quite a bit more involved than I first thought as its rounded in 2 directions to follow the 2 curves of the rear hatch edge. Its probably best if we finish mine, test it, then if you like the look and results we can go from there. I might be able to get some pix up in the next day or 2. Rob
  4. Seems that 155-156 onwards is where the trouble starts with no wing. If your only going 160-165 on street tyres my pick is that not alot of wing will be needed. Ratsun516: I'll be making the wing fully adjustable and about 15inches wide (deep, whichever way you want to look at it, lol) it'll mount to the body only so the chute guys can still open the hatch and put the chute in the back. If your interested, I could make 2 at the same time and do you a sharp deal on one for you? Rob
  5. I don't think so, I've run 162 stable as can be on street tyres with a little duck tail spolier. Without the spoiler and with more power it was like ice at higher speeds, I was hitting 9300rpm in top gear just after 1/2 track it was wheelspinning that much and it was the first time I have ever had tyre shake through the finish line. I'm sure as you get quicker you'll find you get the wobbles although it may not be started by wheelspin if you have slicks. Rob
  6. mmmmm, it seems you have over complicated the whole thing, its very easy to get the correct flat top pistons off the shelf that give low to mid 8 C/R that have been well proven in a huge range of power output RB30s. My 2c is, don't get too worried about squish, keep it simple and you'll be surprised how good they can be. Rob
  7. 1972 240z RB30 TH400 1.45 60ft, 8.71 @ 162 full street trim, mufflers, petrol, DOT tyres, full interior. Hoping to smash that time to bits shortly. Rob
  8. Sorry, last one was suppose to be: how you going with yours? Rob
  9. The 8.90 was with low rpm and basicly no boost on the trans brake, roll gently off the line then feed it on slowly with peek boost of just 21psi, no NOS at all and wheelspinning bad over the finish line (had 9300rpm in top just after 1/2 track and had to pedal it plenty), lol. Should be good when we can give it to it the whole way.
  10. Here's some links to mine with the latest changes: On the dyno at medium boost: First test runs at the strip with the new setup: so we turned the boost down to 21psi and had another go: This is how she used to go at 30 psi in full street trim: Hopefully we can get some grip and get the boost wound back up again Rob
  11. The 25 and 26 manifolds are totally different but we have made adapters so you can run the 6 individual throttle bodies with 26 plenimm on a 25 or just the plenim only with a single throttle if you wish. Check my website www.ripsracing.com and e-mail me if you like, Rob
  12. http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/107814-r-i-p-s-rb30-runs-8s-1-4-bar-street-tyres-gasoline-no-nos.html Didn't realise how badly a 240z needs a wing, definatly next on our list of things to make!! Rob
  13. Thanks for all the kind comments. Well.........after 6 months of hard work......here she is ready for our 1st test session tomorrow: [/img]
  14. Not long now mate, I get it back from the painters today. We are off to a test day tomorrow and the dyno work yesterday looked promising so fingers crossed we see some good mph, then we'll work on the 60fts some more. Rob
  15. Hi guys, Been a while but she's all up and running and ready for the dyno in the next day or 2. I'm happy with the way its all turned out and I hope all the work pays off with some lower ETs and higher mph. The car may still be for sale if we get under 8.5 on street tyres so if anyone is genuinley interested e-mail me, worldwide shipping no problem. rips@inspire.net.nz Rob
  16. Imagine around twice the power and in something about 400kg lighter Rob
  17. http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/107028-r-i-p-s-rb30-gt45-street-engine-ready-testing.html The R.I.P.S world record holding street 240z will be for sale once we get down to low 8s, I'd sell it complete turn key with all spares or as a roller less motor only, anyone genuinley interested that has the money to back up the enquirey, feel free to e-mail me with offers, I can arrange worldwide shipping and help with customs etc. rips@inspire.net.nz Rob
  18. Sounds good, and when the voting info comes through I'll add it here and I presume you can add it to the other site as well? Thanks
  19. Slight update: The old 240z has been Nominated for NZ performance car of the year. Each year the top 12 import cars in NZ can be voted on by the public to find the overall winner. I'll post some pix and details when they release the link to vote online. Be nice to see the old girl take it out and if any of you want to take the time to vote (if you think she's deserving of course) I'd apreciate it, Rob
  20. "I'm tellin ya we got traction here like you wouldn't believe!" Lol. I'd like to see a clean pass of that car, sure looks like its pretty quick, Rob
  21. Great, thanks. When you say 4.125 up, do you mean 4.125 above the 10inch crank CL, or 4.125 off the ground, 42.5in in front of the center of the rear wheel? Thanks Rob
  22. HELL YEAH!!!! 1.159 would get me into the 7s, the car runs straight and we've run 162mph with 60deg inlet temps and no nos. The new setup we are hoping for 170mph+ and that combined with even a good solid 1.2 would get 7s I think, any help would be great, how did you find your center of gravity? and where did you put your 4 link intersection point relative to that? PM or e-mail me if you like rips@inspire.net.nz Rob
  23. Yeah, stopping mine from trying to flip over backwards is my biggest challenge at the moment, Rob
  24. Warren, ah yes, I have seen this car before, just shows what a 1.1 60ft can do for ya. Man I wish I could get off the line like that, one day hopefully I will, lol. Thanks.
  25. I'll be sure to keep the front down from now on so I don't give away too many secrets, lol
