  1. 1000hp is no problem for a stock crank. When people say that a stock crank can't take that sort of power, I ask them to show me 1 case where a stock crank itself has failed, I am yet to hear of 1 case where the actual crank failed due to power/rpm. We run a street 240z at 1100hp+ and 8.7 on the 1/4 with a stock unmodified crank turning 9000rpm, stock cradle and stock used mains bolts just to prove they are perfectly capable of handling more power than most will ever make. A RB30 we have just dyno'd made just over 1300hp/2 bar/9000rpm and although it does have a billet crank by my customers insistance, if it were my own engine I would have been happy to stick with stock. We will be really leaning on the 240z stock crank motor and I am quietly confident we'll be into the 7s in street trim before we'll have any problems with it.
  2. Its been a while comming but here is the NZ performance car Cover and feature of the 240z. http://www.ripsracing.com/RIPS-in-print/articles5.html Plans for the car now: More testing to get the 60ft times down to where they should be (hoping for 1.2s), the 8.71s were done with the slowest 60ft times we've ever run (1.45) this was due to having to leave the line with very low boost to try and keep the front down. With more suspension work and our new wheelie bars hopefully we can start winding the power back in off the line. Once we get the 60fts sorted the plan is to start adding more power down the strip too, we are yet to use the NOS on a run but on the dyno we made an extra 200whp with the smallest 6 port shot. Really hoping for well under 8.5 at 165mph+ in full street trim before too long, just need to get some decent weather and a clean, dry track. Rob
  3. Trailer for the full story comming soon:
  4. Sorry, but you did not read the slips right (I'm car 113), I was quicker out of the hole than the TT V8 on all of the runs, he did run a fraction "quicker" on 1 run but never "faster" and I won all 3 races (runs 4, 5 and 6) Runs 1, 2 and 3 were practice runs and I didn't pay alot of attention to RT as we were trying out the transbrake at different boosts. Rob
  5. We toyed with the idea of a light tube car but seeing as there is so much more potential in this car I'm keeping it for a while. Even on the 8.71 runs we had alot 'not going' for it, the data shows room for big improvements, I'll get the launches sorted and use the NOS, then if need be change the soft valve springs to decent ones so we can run more than 2 bar boost, god knows what it'll do if we get everything bang on but thats the challenge I spose. Rob
  6. More about the days racing here: http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/94556-r-i-p-s-240z-now-quickest-fastest-street-240z-world.html Rob
  7. I'm not stopping yet, we have everything to repair the trans and we have still have the 250hp shot we've tested on the dyno to try and my next meeting is in just over 2 weeks. If we run well into the 8s I may decide to stick with it and go for low 8s or 7s but realisticly its probably too heavy to run 7s with the engine budget we have. I think even if it ends up being a reliable mid 8 second street car thats not a bad effort on street tyres. Rob
  8. http://www.zclub.net/forum/showthread.php?t=11797 Any genuine inquiries/offers to rips@inspire.net.nz Rob
  9. Why is there only 12 studs in the kit above? Not all the mains bolts/studs are the same length. I have around 1000whp on stock used mains bolts so IMO they do not need changing in most applications. Rob
  10. Yep 2816lb with about 10 liters fuel and no nos bottles. I'm sure I could get 300lb out of it pretty easy but for now I want to keep it in complete street trim. Once the trans/converter is sorted we'll be able to wind up the power quite a bit more, removing weight will be a last resort. Rob
  11. 1.40 on the rear wheels. We've had a bit closer look at the footage and it looks like we are carrying the wheels about 180 feet comming down then picking them up again. Data log shows: 0-100kph 1.95 sec 0-200kph 6.8 sec 0-245kph 9.1 sec Rob
  12. Had a good day at the drags yesterday. We entered the Pro Street division for cars in full street trim on street tyres, with full exhaust, mufflers, full interior etc. We qualified No1 with a 9.2 and went on to win the event running consistant 9.1s. This was done without NOS and much lower boost than we have been testing on the dyno with. The reason for this was we wanted to test our 60ft setup and we found we smoked the tyres real bad untill we dropped the boost and power right back. We had some nice wheelstand action for about 50 meters and it was almost carrying the wheels in top gear as well. All in all a good day, won the Pro Street division and found some good gains in the 60fts (low 1.4s measured off the rear wheels) Even made it onto the TV news!! lol. Here's a couple of links: TV3 > Video - Browse All > National Video > Thousands converge on Meremere for automotive extravaganza We'll change the suspension a little, adjust the wheelie bars and once we get the front to stay lower we'll start winding some boost back into it and getting hard on it with the NOS, I'm loving the fact we have soooo much more power just waiting to be used, can't wait.
  13. Quick update: Had another quick play on the dyno with a small shot of NOS to wake the turbo up and we just can't stop it wheelspinning from 7500rpm. At 28psi we managed to register just 890whp by 7500rpm piss me off as we know its probably around 1000whp at 8500rpm but the tyres turn to goo after 1 run. We are around 20% up on power from the 9.0 runs so fingers crossed we get a hard launch, some traction and it runs straight, Rob
  14. Lol, I am a little bit I suppose, there's lots of people kind of like him in NZ, we just love it when people say 'It can't be done" or "your wasting your time" or "you can't do that with those parts!!" Bullshit, just watch me!!!!
  15. Yep, thats the plan, they've put me in Pro Import though against the big boys so I'll be out to better my times and not worry too much about what the others are doing, Rob
  16. Update: Been on the dyno again today and found some more good gains, we are now making more power at 4psi less boost than we had on the 9.06/9.07 no nos runs. We'll set it back to the same boost and be adding a NOS shot adjustable between 75 and 240hp for the meet comming up. Been driving it on the street and f*%k me, its a handfull, almost no steering with any more than 1/2 throttle excellent!! Rob
  17. Thats awesome and you have the mph already for a good 8. My best 60ft is 1.41 (on the 9.06 run) and I'm hoping to drop that to low 1.3s high 1.2s, that'll give us 8.70-8.80 with the same tune we have now, just got to get it off the line hard!!! lol Good luck and keep us posted, Rob
  18. Yes, it is part of our regular weight loss program:mrgreen:
  19. Oh yes!!!, I am very excite as my brother Beloe has been out of his cage helping me to collect gypsy tears to put in my fuel tank as it will ward off the demons of the 8 second club. My sister is now No2 prositute in all of Kasacstan as I have been letting her practice the mouthing parties on me while Beloe "gets this" from behind. Now she brings much honor to my families and she will earn much money for the 'Borat racing team' and hopefully our race car trailer can be pulled by 2 horses instead of just the one:mrgreen: Hi 5, sexy time
  20. Yes, its very soft off the line at the moment, working on improving that now I found some of your video's on youtube, VERY nice out of the hole, whats your best 60ft? (was it triggered by the front or rear wheels, lol) I didn't see any times/mph on the video's, how does she run? Rob
  21. Not much at all, maybe 10psi, its still very soft out of the hole. We intend to give it some more next time out.
  22. stock L24, lol never heard one sound like this: Its a R.I.P.S RB30det:wink: Rob
