  1. well if you follow the S30 diagram in centimeters it just plain doesn't make sense for the s130's, they come up too short. So, the only idea that would pop in your head if you're trying to make it work is to use something other than centimeters, with measuring tape out, inches look like they make more sense. and that's where they would end up. where I mounted them is 19.5 in forward which is 49.5 cm and according to your diagram that you made. the furthest forward one of them should go is 19.5 but in centimeters which would be smaller than a ruler length away from the headlight bucket. also, you would see what I was saying about the frame right after you take off the fender. knowing how the frame is shaped under the fender is important so that you know if the bottom of the mirrors will be hitting it or not. I'm just trying to help, I don't see why so much negativity has to be brought out. Now I feel like we're on Zilvia
  2. ok, so I mounted my fender mirrors today and function-wise they're perfect. compared to pictures of the stock JDM ones, they're not in the exact same place I mounted them both 19.5 inches away from where the actual fender starts.(right after the headlight bucket) they are also basically as far out as you can go on top of the fender. now, you probably have 3 questions 1. Why did I not go off of the template for the S30? Half of the actual mirrors are under the fender(the part with the spring to spring-load the mirror in place). Now when you make your mock up and sit in the drivers seat and test everything out, you figure it's perfect but when you take the fender off you'll see that the bottom part of the mirrors hit the frame. Not really a very important part of the frame but I honestly did not want to go cutting away on it, that's just me. **Picture to come in the morning for now I have the S30 template that I drew on on paint to show you what I mean. The Red line shows how the frame contours under the fender. following my 19.5 inches forward puts the mirrors right in the corner where the frame starts to get narrower, giving the bottom half of the mirror clearance. The blue circles are where the mirrors end up if you follow the s30 template. looking at where the mirrors end up in comparison to the tires, the mirrors should be a little closer to the headlight bucket than the windshield. *note, I used the s30 template in inches not centimeters. using the template in centimeters doesn't even make sense and is obviously wrong for the s130. 2. Why didn't I mount the mirrors staggered like in the s30 template? The passenger side mirror ends up being just as useless as the one mounted on the door. if not, less. Get a Broadway mirror. problem solved. **The Drivers side mirror is twice as good as the door mounted one. Definitely a Plus! 3.Should you copy these instructions entirely? No, this is what I did that I'm sharing with you, If you want to use it feel free, if you want to make your own improvements or go a different route go ahead. We all have our own personal preferences, I'm just trying to help fellow zx owners out. cheers!
  3. Just bought the pair fobic was selling anybody know exactly where to mount them? I did a search but I only saw diagrams for the s30
  4. yeah just replaced mine today, that was exactly the problem a buddy of mine figured it out in two seconds. kinda weird how you're having that problem at the same time
  5. a local z owner brought out a stethoscope and told me I had a problem with the air conditioning tensioner is that a possibility?
  6. I saw it on PhilbertZ's thread. but no one can ID. and it isn't the kaminari one
  7. yeah, it's an amber colored plastic thingy that you'll usually find pieces of on the floor if you have this problem. the local z specialists actually put a nut in there for me instead of another rubber or plastic piece so it won't break again
  8. When my car idle's it wheezes and I hear some grinding noises from time to time. but sometimes the wheezing and grinding isn't there. I brought it to the local z specialist and it wouldn't make the sounds so they couldn't diagnose the problem when it does wheeze however, the sound gets more high pitched when i'm stepping on the gas. No idea if that helps but I really want to get rid of whatever it is help is appreciated! thanks
  9. I was looking to get a short ram or CAI and I came across two options, they're both short ram but they're still choices MSA has a cold air induction system for 129.95 and ebay has the same thing for around 60 including the shipping with a K&N air filter I know intakes are simple and a lot of people make their own but i'm just trying to look for something to bolt on are there any significant differences between the two? or is MSA just charging more because they can? and please give me feedback from personal experience, there's usually a lot of hearsay or thrashing on ebay or the little chinese kids who make the products that are sold on ebay, I just want to hear what you guys went with and how good or bad it performs thanks,
  10. very high lack of love for 280zx's in the CF area. only thing i've seen carbon for the zx is the hood. like on beta motorsports they have CF hood and hatch and other stuff for 240s and 280s and such but only a hood for the zx headlight buckets would be really cool in CF There's really lots of business in CF for the first gen personally, I think you guys would get a lot of business from the 2nd gen crowd from the lack of availability for CF parts. but that's just my 2 cents anyways, hatch, headlight buckets, T-TOPS!, hood vents, and FENDER MIRRORS! I think would be really cool. especially the t-tops and fender mirrors
  11. well I haven't replaced the clutch master cylinder since I got the car but I don't see why it would make the pedal click and I have tried oiling it up. but I guess I gotta put more elbow grease into it? haha anybody else got more input?
  12. Almost every time I press down on the clutch I feel and hear a click right before it's all the way down. it's obviously not normal but hasn't affected daily driving, at least yet. Anybody know what's wrong? and how to fix it? Thanks
  13. ZXR_KiD, I did hear about someone doing that too, I just haven't seen any pictures so I don't know what to think I also heard someone wanting to mount mirrors for a streetbike? I think it was for an S30 though
  14. I've been thinking of getting fender mirrors for my 83, but they're so hard to find at a good price. another 83 (or maybe an 82? I dunno but it was a turbo) rolled up behind me at the gas station and had the APR Performance Formula GT3 mirrors mounted on his fenders. I thought they looked pretty good. anybody else do this? or have pictures of one that has?
  15. MJP auto has them i'm pretty sure this is what you were looking for? http://www.mjpshop.co.uk/product_info.php?id=&pid=316
  16. The little plastic circle from the inside of the car? Pictures anyone?
  17. I found a ZX at the local junkyard and I'm planning on swapping my plastic pillars for the stainless ones. I have done a search on this and I know there was a past thread on this but I'm still very clueless as to how the procedure goes exactly. I know there's a cap covering the part where you screw it off and there's fasteners I shouldn't break, does anybody have pictures of this or maybe a step by step how to? The help is greatly appreciated! Thanks
  18. I've been seeing companies like BLOX (http://www.prostreetonline.com/x/blox-turbo-exhaust-manifold.asp) making turbo exhaust manifolds for civics and integras and such. Is there a company that makes one for the zx? or someone that can fab one for a reasonable price? or is the junkyard and ebay my only choice? the help will be greatly appreciated thanks
  19. I actually don't know which steering rack I have mine's an 83' NA coupe, I dunno if that helps?
  20. I plan on making a drift machine out of mine and I was wondering if I needed to modify my steering rack like 240z drifters usually do. I see z31's drift fine and get angle fine and I feel like I get a lot of angle in my car fine but would a steering rack mod be in my favor? Or is it something I don't really need? I've searched this topic before and a lot of people say that you just feel like you get a lot more angle in the z because you're seated further back in the car. Feedback?
  21. anybody know how or where to get them other than japan? or any other sideskirts that look like them? or if they even still exist? they're not on the yamato site, the only z body kit i've seen there is for a 300ZX.
  22. just to make things clear. I know it's not a real misfiring system like I said and they do claim to be a misfiring system, maybe not on the site, but wherever it's sold it always says misfiring system rev limiter http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Bee-R-Ignition-Misfiring-System-Rev-Limitter-FREE-S-H_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33598QQihZ004QQitemZ8053918734QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V It really is kinda ricey if you think about it but I do like how it sounds and looks none the less
  23. claims to be a misfiring system but really isn't, but I kinda want it none the less, I like how it looks like a misfire system with the little fireballs and what not. anybody ever put it on your Z? http://www.bee-r.com/english/revlimitter/inde.htm
  24. Well I can afford one from like a junk yard, but I'm trying to avoid wasting money on a crappy engine and having to pay for a rebuild. The engines I've found are from japan, those remanufactured ones, and they're really just expensive. Intake manifold and exhaust manifold go on ebay for about 100 bucks, then I'd need to get a turbo which I could also probably get off of ebay. and you said not to bother with ecu, fuel pump, or spark plugs To me that looks cheaper, does it not?
