  1. is that a custom rear?? sickest i've seen on an s130
  2. I've been trying to find a thread about anybody putting a turbo on their NA motor with very little modification but can't find anything on it. I keep finding threads that lead to just buying a junkyard L28ET or sourcing one from a donor car. I have an 81 L28 that has a little less than 80,000 miles and a CT26 turbo laying around from a supra and have been wanting to try and put them together. MegaSquirt is looking mandatory. I also read about getting a 2mm steel head gasket to make up for compression? Aftermarket fuel rail? I have other random goodies for a turbo set up that i've found from the junkyard like intercoolers, BOV from an eclipse, etc. but I just want to know what needs to be done to the actual motor to be able to run like 7psi. nothing crazy. any input is great thanks.
  3. I actually kind of want them to stick out a little bit. I'm going for a that flush look. but 18x8.5 all around sounds good. but how would I be able to fit 18x9.5's all the way around safely with spacers?
  4. If I went that route with the 18's I would want 18x9.5's all the way around. that's what I was saying. but I don't think they would fit on the front.
  5. I would buy it. even just to find out if the real thing is worth it
  6. oh man . there's nothing I can just purchase from like MSA or something?
  7. anybody running them? I really want 17x9's all the way around but i'm not sure if the offsets would work, or if running spacers would be safe. I used to want 18x9.5 in the rear and 18x7 in the front but i'm not feeling the staggered set up anymore, and as much as I would love the 18x9.5's in the rear I would want them in the front as well if I got them. input guys?
  8. I just replaced the clutch slave today and the car now runs like a true champ . The clutch has a nice hard feel to it now, it's even harder than how the clutch was when I first got the car. Now all I need is that bearing for the pulley on the powersteering reservoir and i'm good to go. Anybody got a link to where to get it?
  9. A little confused here Daeron, you're saying if I put a little bit of power steering fluid in the clutch master cylinder, my leaks would temporarily stop ? and I wouldn't have to keep bleeding my clutch? Until I replace all the parts of course. and if so, how much is putting a little?
  10. power steering needs a new bearing in the pulley. which is where it's also leaking. temporarily I took the power steering belt off until I fix the problem. power steering is such a luxury , never realized it haha. I also figured out the clutch problem and why it was all soft. the slave cylinder has a leak and needs to be replaced, and the clutch lines needed to be bled. I filled the master cylinder and bled the clutch and will be changing the slave cylinder soon, but for now i'll just keep adding fluid from time to time .
  11. silver280zx, where did you buy your centerforce II kit? got a link?
  12. thanks russjz but it's $50 to join toymods and i'm pretty sure a thread would show if they had an answer from all the google searches i've done. I am a member of club4ag and toyota3tc, and sasupras and yet still nobody has an answer. anybody running a 5 speed on any engine with an A/T ecu?
  13. the belt was actually somewhat still on there. just a tad shredded up (had to cut it off). anyways, I replaced the belt and now the car runs great, only problem is now I have this steady knocking coming from the power steering reservoir at idle and while the car is in motion. it even spits out little droplets of power steering fluid. I put my hand on the reservoir and can even feel the knocks. anybody have any ideas?
  14. I won a 5 speed M/T ECU from a seller on ebay who also had a listing for the A/T version for the 1g-gte and they accidentally switched the orders and sent me the ECU labeled A/T. I emailed them for an exchange and they claim that they knew it said A/T on it but it came out of a 1990 Supra 5 speed and it will work with my engine and trans. I emailed back saying that I don't want to take risks and that I just want what they advertised and I should get what they listed and pictured. They promised an exchange but it's been 4 days and so far they are MIA, and it's looking like i'm stuck with the A/T ECU. I've been looking around doing searches on google and some are saying that the ECU could really care less if my transmission is there or not and that the A/T will work but will put out less HP and run richer. Some are even saying that running an A/T ECU in a M/T car is illegal. There are so many things said about the matter and I really just need to know.. Will the A/T ECU work fine with the 5 speed? any help is greatly appreciated.
  15. The brakes and rotors both came from MSA so I expect them to be fine. but thank you for the warnings, i'll be doing a lot of inspection before I start using the Z to commute again. i'll get the belt asap and report back my findings, hopefully it'll solve a lot of the problems if not all
  16. roger, newby, and turboboost, you guys were completely correct . I had time today to check it out and the alternator belt is definitely severed. Anybody have a link to which belt it is that needs replaced? I can't seem to find it on the MSA site
  17. I was moving the car across the street today to avoid a street cleaning ticket and its the first time i've done it at night. I realized that my headlights are still turning on dim and the volt meter is reading just about at the top of the yellow part above 10. usually that battery is around 14, what could be draining the car's power? *i'm also waiting on clutch replacement parts
  18. I was driving home from work going about 80-85 and I heard a loud CLICK then my headlights went dim, my dash said my handbrake was up, and that a door is open. No idea what was going on so I pulled over, The car was not over heating and in fact was not even hot at all but that cooling system thing turned on (the plastic turbo looking thing). I turn the car off and on to find that suddenly my car is overheating like crazy (temp gauge is all the way up). I then called triple A to bring my car home. The next day I tried to figure out what was going on. The first things I noticed were that my clutch felt very soft and had a hard time springing back up, it sometimes even stayed pressed down and had to be pulled up by my foot. Also, I had just gotten new rear brake pads and rotors and my handbrake that had been very stiff and hard to pull up is now easy to pull. I called some people that have more knowledge than I do in the automotive field (auto teachers, friends, local shops) and they said that I need a new clutch or maybe the linkage of the hydraulic system on the clutch disconnected. Right now the car is semi driveable (I've been moving it across the street to avoid street cleaning days). But the car jumps forward (or backwards if in reverse) with very little gas and very little lifting of the clutch. The handbrake light and open doors light still stay on whenever the car is on, and the car is not overheating but I have not kept the car on for longer than 5 mins since the incident so I don't know if it would start to over heat or not. Anyways, any ideas would help greatly. thanks
  19. you're actually right, that's the word I was looking for. Reservoir is what I mean, not the pump. but anyway, it always looks like everything around that area is wet with the power steering fluid (I use ATF) I had my car running while the hood was open and I didn't really see it but the fluid was spraying out onto my right fender. I left for a few seconds but my fender is primed grey and when I came back the fluid was sprayed all over it. I think it kind of mists out not really sprays because I couldn't really see anything but I could feel it with my hands. but yeah I'll try to get pictures or take a video so you can see how it leaks. PS. sorry about the n00bish-ness. i've never dealt with powersteering before O_O
  20. Power steering is leaking right under the pump but doesn't leak when i'm filling it. can't figure out the exact source it the pump seems to leak all over. Any common problems and fixes anyone knows about? Help is appreciated
  21. I was looking to fit an aftermarket wheel but don't know much about wheels and hubs. I was looking at an NRG short hub and it's interchangeable for the 200sx, 240sx, 260z/280z, and 300zx would it really not fit the 280zx or did they just forget about the 280zx like most manufacturers do? I'm not looking to spend a lot on a hub, so i'm looking to get some ebay hub for another car that is interchangeable. any help is appreciated thanks in advance!
  22. well now that you're just straight insulting me. i'm no longer stooping to your level. but you do have a point and you have yet to prove yourself to me done, posting in this thread apologies to all just trying to find where to mount your fenders
  23. Well 280zForce, what you are saying is true, and I did mention that myself. but of course I had to base the measurements I was going to make off of something. Anyways, point was well taken from you. I will take off the diagram so it can't go that far and avoid confusion. And pictures will be up soon. I'm lagging it I know. As for HS30-H I could care less of reputation or popularity. No offense to anybody, but whatever attitude is given to me is what you will get back. And it is no different in terms of respect. And Tony, I actually haven't heard of WSCZ until now but it gives an explanation to why I see lines of Z's on the freeway to work sometimes haha. I was not a member, but I am now!
  24. and Tony, a lot of people would appreciate it if you got those measurements lucky you, I wish I had a fairlady 280zx -__-
  25. ok well let me put it in simpler words so you and your people from your planet can understand I posted what I did as an option for some ZX owners to do. I supplied at least one way to mount their mirrors. Last I checked, this is what this thread is for. I at least contributed a solution. All you've accomplished so far is tell me how i'm wrong, oh and establishing that that diagram is originally yours, CONGRATULATIONS, get over it. This is my car, and I will do what I want to it just like any car owner has the right to do things their way with their own style. Just because you don't like how I mounted them doesn't mean i'm wrong. Maybe it's not exactly in the same spot the JDM 280's mirrors are at but it works. learn to be less negative. I'm simply trying to share my knowledge here and you might not appreciate it but some people do. It's people like you that make others not want to ask for help with their cars without feeling stupid. and it's people like you that will turn hybridz into another Zilvia where people constantly hate on each other and try their best to prove the other wrong. I'm no longer arguing with you btw, so don't even waste your time.
