  1. I was also thinking that a stock clutch would work fine in my application since its pusing a lighter vehicle than the Fbody. This sound about right?
  2. So for the fuel system basically all I need is a FPR and a bigger fuel pump. Walbro 255 work fine for this? It should bolt in right where the old one is. I was lookin at flywheels last night and alot of people shy away from the fidanza because It doesn't come balanced, or at least thats what I read on LS1tech.com. I read about the Ram flywheels and thats what it seems like alot of people are using.
  3. Washer bottle is already out. The JCI motor mounts are already on their way and should be here this week. I have the JTR tranny mount already here though, shouldn't be a problem with the JCI mounts. Savage42 - Sorry for the confusion, when I said mount kit I meant the radiator mounting kit I would like to get some stuff ordered though, so right now if I was going with that tilton, I can get the Russel 32" -3AN braided brake line along with the clutch adapter mentioned in Grenade300's write up and it should all go on like butter.. correct? Anyone reccomend any certain flywheel? I was looking at the lightweight flywheels on ebay and some just dont seem to be as high quality as a Fidanza, or am I just being anal.
  4. I no longer have the fusible link setup. I run inline fuses now. The only wires going into the engine bay right now are the headlight and turn signal wires. Here is the clutch master cylinder I am looking at on Ebay - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NASCAR-TILTON-3-4-MASTER-CYLINDER-W-RESEVOIR_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33566QQihZ008QQitemZ180182862572QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW Its a 3/4 though, I dont know how that would work for me. I was planning on getting the JTR radiator and mount kit, along with a decent fan from jegs or other.
  5. Whew.. lol Picked up the F-body belt tensioner last night. The car is a 77 280z so the tank should already be sumped correct? Im using a T56 from an 05 GTO, aftermarket clutch, and depending how much money im going to have left, a lighter flywheel. On the clutch, can I use the stock master cylinder? Im kinda a Noob when it comes to AN fittings, I have just never worked with them. I dont know how to run the fuel system completely yet, but Im almost sure I know the basics. PopNwood, you have any other reccomendations, pictures, or anything that would help? You seem to have done this a time or two lol.
  6. Wait4meperformance.com does mail order tunes and standalones and is who I am going with. Ive got LS1 injectors on my list of stuff. They said the LS1 harness will work fine and they have done it before and have a tune for my application.
  7. Im ready to start ordering stuff for the swap and im trying to compile a near complete list of everything I will need for the swap. Already have mounts, d-shaft adapter, tranny mount, and headers. I also need someone to school me on the LQ4 fuel system and how you run that with a Datsun fuel line setup. I want to use the Walbro 255 pump also. Another thing is the clutch setup. The guy who wrote the LS1 swap thread, used a tilton setup, I can get a 3/4 master cylinder, and want to know if that would mount the same and would use the same size clutch line. Heres my list, If anyone would like to add, feel free. Component List. 1) LS1 wiring harness and computer – Tune 2) LS1 crank pulley 3) LS1 water pump 4) F-body Alt bracket 5) LS1 intake and injectors 6) Serp belt #060547 7) Goodyear pulley #49003 8) Lokar throttle cable #TC-1000LS148 9) Tilton 3/4 Clutch Master Cylinder 10) Russel clutch adapter # 640281 11) 32†Russel braided brake line -3AN – 90 deg end – 12) JTR radiator kit 13) JCI Driveshaft 14) Aeromotive Fuel Pressure Regulator 15) Walbro 255
  8. 1977 280Z no PS or AC. It was pretty rough when I got it but ive been bustin arse on it. It has all new metal in alot of places, worked it down to ZERO rust. Finally got it painted, but in the pic below I havent got the air dam painted yet. Warning: This is my sig pic on the other forum.. so beware.. lol
  9. Its an 02, has the #317 heads, the aluminum ones. Truck its coming from had a pretty bad life from what I can see.. maybe I will let someone on here decide : )
  10. Well.. put a deposit on one, but im picking it up next monday.. Anything I should look for/do while it out and on the engine stand? I might be taking the heads off and putting different head gaskets in the bump the compression up a tad bit. ARP studs be a good envestment or a waste of money. Only thing that is happening before install is LS6 or better intake manifold, JTR headers, wait4meperformance.com tune with LS1 computer and 8 wire standalone all mated up to a T56. Just looking for something that would be a worthwhile thing to do while the engine is out.
  11. I just got my JTR LS1 headers in.. havent got a good chance to look them over.. Are the header outlets that come with the headers 3" or did you have to buy those? Just curious, took them out of the box, went NICE! and had to go work on the womans neon
  12. Any vids of your cars exhaust? I LOVE that tone the dynomax gives, I dont see why the Camaro and T/A people never run it. They all like that poopy loudmouth stuff. What specific muffler are you using? Theres a couple different ones.
  13. Thats the one. Im almost posotive hes running dynomax with maybe another component somewhere. LS2 should sound exactly like a LQ4 with LS1-style intake being that the LQ4 is basically an LS2, just iron.. At least thats what I think. Im set on dynomax already for any chevy motor, but I just want to know what the full system is.
  14. Just want to know what he is running exhaust wise. Thanks lol
  15. The standalone with tune I found at wait4meperformance.com is 300 bucks and ive heard alot of good about them. Ive found out that an LS1 harness would be easier to use, as long as i have the injectors from an LS1. The truck harness costs 40 extra $$ to make it into a standalone. Im going to be using stock heads BTW, theyre just aluminum on the 01+ trucks. Ill be using an LS6 intake also.
  16. Im workin on a budget though.. Motor and tranny is only going to be around 2800. Already have all the stuff like motor mounts and headers.. Not really looking to blow the rest of my engine budget on a wiring harness just to skip a couple steps. I just would think that there would be a tune out there for the HPTuners software for a LQ4 with LS1/LS6 intake. Its not like people havent done it before.
  17. I guess the 01+ engines have aluminum heads, so that would be a good deal. I could always upgrade to The L92 heads. Which wiring harness would be easier to use, one from an LS1 car or the LQ4 truck harness... The HPTuners tuner he has says it will tune almost all GM vehicles, including diesels, and all LS based engines, just didnt know if that would include the LQ4.
  18. Awesome.. Ive been dying to have these wheels on a Z but I wasn't sure it would be doable. Hopefully they wont end up needing 10 inches of spacers lol.. Thanks guys.
  19. I know on S10's to run vette wheels, which many people have done, you need to run like 55mm spacers in the rear. Who makes some pretty good quality spacers for a good price?
  20. Was looking over my 5.3 decision thread, and people are telling me to use the 6.0 truck blocks. This is the LQ4 correct? Could I use the LS1 heads on this without any conflict? What about wiring on the LQ4, basically the same as an LS1? My buddy got an HPtuners tuner, I was also wondering if that would work ok on a setup like this since everything is different.. Just trying to get an idea of a package put together before I go spending money.
  21. I just seen that Rota had a 4x114.3 lug pattern on their website for the P45 series wheels.. problem is, how the heck am I gonna run them with ZG flares, without insane wheel spacers.. But hey, Im a noob with Datsuns/Cars.. so here we go. Fronts are 18x8.5 with a +25 offset.. with ZG flares, how massive of a number of wheel spacers am I going to need to run them flush.. Rears are 18x9.5 with a +30 offset.. again, with ZG flares.. how stupid is the amount of spacer I am going to need to run these flush.. Right now on this subject, I am about = to Also, what size of tire could I run with these wheels along with the GC coilover kit.. Again, thanks all for answering the probably most asked question.. ever.
  22. Agreed ^ what size of tire are you running also, that thing looks dangerous
  23. I was wanting to get a idea of what I would have to do spacer wise using the 4 lug wheels with stock hubs and everything. But I do like that look ^.
  24. About to buy cobra R replicas off Ebay, and would like to see some with and without wheel spacers or with ZG flares. Also would like to know what kind of spacer I would need to run to run flush with a ZG flare on these. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/17-9-Black-Mustang-Cobra-R-Wheels-Rims-79-93_W0QQitemZ290175968898QQihZ019QQcategoryZ43957QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
