  1. hey pete,

    it`s mark i bought your sidemarker lights.anyway

holley has the solenoid or you can do what i did and make one.get the bracket aftermarket or find one off of an old holley (it mounts at the two little holes next to the front bowl.)and get a solenoid off of a q-jet car with air and combined the two.

in my humble opinon your not going to like the performance of that 600 your better off with a 750 had one on a 283 woke it right up! ...mark

  2. Pete,

how are you doing? it`s mark i bought the sidemarker lights from you.what carb are you running? i have a 830cfm db on my basicly stock 400 w/flat tops and it loves it! i put a 600 on to get it running becaulse i thought the 830 would be too much.man was i wrong, it wouldn`t run worth well you know.600`s only work on stock 350 low compression motors and that`s it!!! if your running a holley just set the powervalve to the vacuum and the jets to the airflow.i remember something about a off the line bog? change your squrters and adjust your float level.if you go to a new carb try a 750 dp or better yet a 830 it has the main body of a 850 and throtle blades of a 750 a hybrid if you will :D (sorry couldn`t resist that).oh and by the way REALLY NICE CAR!!!! but you know that already 2thumbs.gif

    mark

  3. found the problem!!! in the cowl area under a shield is the duct. giving my best finger feel i`d say it up sticks 2-3" so water won`t get in.

anyway mine is rusted at the base sour.gif so since im trying to get the car inspected and have no interor in it. it`s now on my to do list cry2.gif

man this list keeps getting longer and longer!!!!! ugg.gif

  4. hi everyone my 240 blowermotor housing is rusted at the crease where the lower front and side meet. to fix it is no biggie blue goo or jb weld will fix that.what im concered about is how much water leaks through there... after a rain storm i have a pool on my pass floor.haveing the flap closed stops it but am i missing a part im not aware of? or is water collecting in the housing a normal thing?....thanks mark

  5. thanks for the imput but i was looking for a alteritive to a latch basicly becaulse i don`t have one yet.do you think a steel cable would hold at highway speeds? i only want an 1 inch above the cowl mainly for heat to escape...mark

ps.do you guys run the JTR hood latch?...i wasn`t going to go with that becaulse of racing and i didn`t want to mess with taking it on and off for the dist.

  6. Hello,I took my 240 out to the local test and tune spot for it`s first run.I don`t have a hood latch yet so i held it down with a bungie cord.Anyway a cool thing happend at speed the hood would open up like 60`s cowl induction.I know i can`t be the only one that wants the hood to do this!!!So what have pepole used in the past (chain,steelrope,ect..)i just want to be sure it`s safe at hightway speeds!!!!.Mark

  7. Hey Cool you found it 2thumbs.gif

you entered that one in while i was writing :D

anyway the flaring tool...if you`ve ever put a double flare on the end of a brake line you`ll know the tool im talking about.one part is 2 metal bars that clamps the tubing tight and the other is a upside down u clamp with a big cone to flare out the tube.

that`s all you really have to do...set the tube in the clamps at the correct height for the tool i guess an 1/8th above the clamps.slide on the other part and tighten until the flare matches the inside dia. of the cap (don`t forget to put the cap on the line first i have forgotten)it`s really simple!!!! just make sure you center the tool.

ok i just read your question again double flaring is not needed in this appication just single flare

  8. Truevalue has a wide range of fittings up to and over 1/2 dia.I haven`t checked it out for myself as of yet. But if im reading you right and it fits a 1/2 NPT then you can get a fitting that will plum 1/2in line or any combination you want.

P.S I looked in my summit catolog just to check and Earls and Aeroquip fitting are the exact same as Truevalue just not blue and red.I would try local stuff first becaulse that way you get to see how it will work with everything right there in front of you.also if you goof(which i have many times) they will take it back as long as its not installed. Also the fittings im talking about are hard line not swivle.(just thought i`d say that)...my opinon....Mark

  9. Just getting my 240 worked out and in 2wks i`ll be heading to the test and tune.I think I know what the car will do but I would like you best guesses! I have a 73 240 400sbc "stock" at least in my opinion. It has #882 heads 194/150 valves,an LT1 cam, flat top pistons (10.1cr), a cast iron intake w/a 830 holly dp carb. stock HEI.

    The trans is a turbo350 2500stall 11 inch

    r200 rear 3.55`s

Now this same motor with a 750 vac sec carb ran 13.8 @101 in my 68nova with 3.23`s and that car weighs every bit of 3400-3500lbs.so if a 240z weighs 2500lbs. Im thinking 12.8 @105 with the cast intake (top end restrictions)

Everything ran through exhaust and street tires just like my nova at the time....what do you think it will do?....mark

  10. I just got the exhuast on my 240 and had to cut a section of the sparetire well out for the flowmaster muffler. So now it`s basicly useless for a full size tire.I have to remount my fuel pump becaulse I changed over from a r180 to a r200 and the mustache bar sits back to far for the fuel pump mount to work....ok long story short im thinking about mounting the pump in the spare tire well and covering the top with a metal door of some type...what do you think? what do you use this space for??

  11. Try going to your local hardware store(true value)and check out the Flared Fittings(don`t forget your drain plug for referance)they work great for fuel applications.SUPER SUPER easy to plum also.If you have a double flaring tool you just have to widen the line to fit the cone and as you tighten the fitting it will seal it self with the cone.these fittings i THINK are for propane applications but isn`t that what being a hybrid is all about taking something and using it to your advantage!!! :D Also they are a lot cheaper then AN fittings and do the same thing!!! They even look alike!!!! 2thumbs.gif

  12. my only exp.has been with the wheel side but ive found it works best with a 14mm and 9/16 wrenches..use the box end of the 9/16 on the ujoint side and the open end of the 14mm on the wheel side and squeeze with one hand or try to keep as close together as possable. if two tight interlock the 9/16 with another wrench.hope this makes sense and good luck. :D ...mark

  13. Yea I got a good look at a phantom grip and could see more harm than good. For one thing it`s not reconmended for over 375hp (they said nothing about tourqe) also when it wears away (and it will)all the metal will go right to the gears. At least in my case datsun rears aren`t falling from trees. If anything i`ll wait for powertrax to come out with a unit.Just my humble 2 cents....mark

  14. I HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS. I RAN A SEARCH ON PHANTOM GRIP AND IM CONFUSED.MAYBE IT`S BECAULSE IT`S 6 AM ON A SUNDAY AND IM AT WORK.ANY WAY MY QUESTIONS.

IS IT LIKE A POWERTRAX UNIT MEANING IT INSTALLS IN YOUR EXISTING OPEN DIFF?

IM ASSUMING FROM THE SEARCH OUR REARS ARE THE SAME AS THE 200SX REARS?(MY R200 REARS ARE FROM A 280Z AND A 280ZX FROM A TWO SEATER J CODE NOT SURE THE YEAR)

DO YOU THINK IT WILL HOLD UP TO DRAG RACING?

ALSO WOULD I STILL BE ABLE TO GET IT FROM HYBRIDZ MEMBERS AT A CASH DISCOUNT?

THANKS FOR THE HELP I LOOKED INTO POWERTRAX LAST WEEK AND WAS SUPRISED THEY DIDN`T MAKE A UNIT FOR IT BUT THEY HAVE A UNIT FOR TOYOTA GO FIGURE.MARK

  15. IM CHANGING MY R180 OVER TO AN R200 AND ON THE R200`S FRONT CROSSMEMBER THERE`S A PLATE WITH WEIGHTS THAT ARE POSITIONED UNDER THE DIFF.

I COULD UNDERSTAND IF THEY WERE MOUNTED TO THE DIFF MOUNT FOR COUNTERBALANCE BUT I JUST DON`T SEE THE PURPOSE OF THEM.

    DOES ANYONE REUSE THEM?

IM GOING TO USE THE ORIG.240Z CROSSMEMBER BECAULSE IT LOOKS STRONGER AND HAS THE BOLT HOLES ALREADY THERE FOR THE MOUNT BRACE.

    SO IM JUST WONDERING THANKS...MARK
