  1. What`s in it and what size shot of NOS? Impressive although a wild ride with the rear unlaoding from side to side.
  2. Ok thanks, I left the key in, I didn`t know it had to be removed to work.
  3. Is the streeing lock activation mechanical or electric. My car has been down for a while and I knew it had always worked. The wiring harness is removed. I wanted to lock the wheel in a certain position to work on the brakes and noticed the lock wasn`t working. There`s 2 red wires in the front bottom under the name(key) plate that I thought was for the buzzer but now I`m thinking it might engage the steering lock. Just a random thought while i`m at work. 4. I understand about the mustang guy...and other then the shovle part at the end it would be something I would do. It looked safe and sucluded not like this guy where it looks like a vehicular homicide could happen at any moment! Maybe I`m just getting old.
  5. I don`t have any pics of the rear setup yet. The rear has to come back out for gears and bracket reinforcement. At the time I rushed it after getting the rear setup so I can move it and move onto other things to stay interested. I`ll take pics then when things look better. What I did that`s a little different then others. Is instead of cutting the rear down I compensated with wheel backspace. Side note: having an uncut rear also makes it easier ordering axles, just tell them the year and make it came out of. They have all the mesurments for it. The Nova rear is 60" and with a backspace of 7.5 on 10" rims, which put me back to the factory track width. Of course having fender flares helps also. The suspension, i just followed MikeKz`s lead using the Jegsters S/S bars and S&W coil over shocks, but instead of using the shocks in your typical spot behind the rear, I installed them on top and used the strut towers. 6. Well my timing sucks!!! When I tore apart my car for the cage and frontend metal work, it was 11.99 and quicker needed a cage. Then they changed it to 11.45 and quicker. I could have played longer! NOW, everybody is passing tech with IRS rears. I could have been ready last year if I didn`t decide to switch to solid. I switched because at the time everyone was saying IRS won`t pass tech and at the time even the Corvette IRS was time limited. Do you know how much money and time I could have saved if I didn`t want to be hassled by tech. Strange 33 spline axles, full spool and C-clip eliminators aren`t cheap you know!! You guys suck with your pushing the rules attitude and daring the tech guys to say something so you can start an argument mentality....... I`m just giving you guys a hard time. Though my timing does suck and could have saved me time and money. Reading the posts it does seem the southern tracks are more relaxed on the rules then the northern tracks. Here at Cecil County I`ve noticed rules are really being enforced lately compared to the last couple of years. Helmet and seat belt date/cerification on test & tune to name a few.
  7. The flares came with the car. Tires are 11.5x26x15 DOT drag time pros (actually 10" wide) the fronts are 73-78 nova rotors w/ rally skinnies. The rear is a GM 8.5 Nova rear uncut. I got around the differance from the datsun rear length by having the rims made with 7.5 backspacing. It has Strange 33 spline/spool/c-clip eliminator combo. The Victor jr. fits under the hood fine but is touchy with an air cleaner. The headers are circletrack headers I modified to fit the tube front end. Engine is SBC 400ci. The pipes have auger inserts in the 3" pipes. sounds like a 60`s Stingray! There`s some cage pics in my gallery, not great but you`ll get the idea. Mark
  8. There`s room to secure it out of sight. I still have to put gears in it (3.42`s)so i`ll finish up back there then. There`s ALOT of little things I still need to do but I can sense the end is almost there. I would have made the hose shorter and better fitting....but I`ve discovered steel braided lines ARE NOT my friend. Mark
  9. I keep leaning toward this one. I don`t have alot of room and would like to fit it in the back yard, so a single axle would be better for me. It`s more expensive at $2900 but making one like it wouldn`t be much cheeper considering metal prices. It`s a 6x12 tilt with a 4800lb capacity with 3000lb each spring rating and a 5200lb axle rating. http://centrevilletrailer.com/fullSpecs-modelID-38.cfm
  10. It sound like my combo for my 400ci give or take. My combo is 400 std bore w/ flattops, aftermarket heads 202/160 valves same volume as the old 461 double humps -10.0 comp. .460 cam w/1.6 rockers. I`m running a Victor jr intake and 830 db holley. Turbo 350 trans with 11" converter. Before I took it off the road the best time was 12.02 @115 in the 1/4. The online calulators stated I made 290 hp at the wheel and about 330 at the crank. The Z weight advantage is amazing and can produce results very easy. I took this motor out of my 68 Nova for my 396 bb /stick install. The 400 in the Nova with 882 heads,1.5 rockers ,750dp carb, same convert and trans. I ran it once to see what it would do and turned a 13.8. That same motor, nothing changed except carb started at 12.8 off the trailer and the times would drop dramticly every time I ran it. I say install it as is and have fun. The tourqe of the 400 in a Z is nuts.
  11. 60`s Gasser....That`s all im sayin....60`s Gasser
  12. I`m having problems with my 94 ss CPI at the moment also. But I`ve never had the problem like what your describing. Did you buy a new unit or rebuilt. I`m guessing for a $500 kit you bought new. If it`s rebuilt the injector or popets could be stuck open or bad, either case you should have a warranty. From what I understand the rebuilt ones just have the regulator replaced and then blown out the door. Any codes showing? (Like EGR) You might have to erase the codes for the unit to work proberly. If you don`t have a scaner just unplug the weather connection off of the + battery cable for 15-30 seconds and that will clear the codes. Whenever a code pops up, any new comp controlled sensor won`t work right until the code is cleared. Every new part has a signiture prorameter that the computer must comunicate with. On these units the regulator is what usually goes bad, Napa sells a replacement regulator and the nut kit (the hoses that feed the injerctor) rather then buying a whole unit. However you can only get so far with doing that, which I think is the problem in my case. I`m replaceing my CPI injector tomarrow. It started as a stumble accelerating but would clear up if I gave it more gas. I let it go and the problem got worse to the point of not being drivable...but the idle was always fine so I thought it was an electrical problem. The truck has 125 k on it. No codes showing. I thought it was the TPS....nope (I relpaced the MAP,TPS and ignition module earlier this year just because of age they still worked fine, I put them back on to find the problem) Acted like a bad coil....nope Replaced the coil pickup in the distributor...The wires had broken insulation showing bare wire and the cloth covering the coil windings was missing and burned....still not the problem. Pulled on the injector wire and the truck shuts down. Take off the upper plenum and move the wire and the injector clip moves. Go to take it off and it breaks....replace the clip and wires...still not the problem. Now after all this, the driving is fine but it wants to shut down while at idle and stop lights....In other words acting like one of the symtoms of a bad CPI unit. Hope this helps, I feel your pain! 15. This style GTO is a nice car, there`s no argument about that. The problem was failed marketing. At the time GM discontinued the camaro and firebird saying the rear wheel drive V8 market is no longer profitable. Then in the same breath anounced the holden rebaged as the GTO. And that`s where they made thier mistake. It would have sold if the had left the name as the holden or gave it a completly new name. But it was arogance to think the american public would accept a rebadged car on a name that is so ingraned in the american automotive culture. In essence GM insulted our inteligence (sp) yet again, by thinking we`ll buy a car solely on a name rather than relying on the car to sell it`s self. The downfall of the holden/GTO car is in my opinion are 2 things. The bland style (it looks like a bigger grand am to me) and of course the GTO name which was the emotional death nail for the cars marketing. Everything else is great the drivetrain, power, comfort all top notch stuff. I think this car will be strong in the used car market as there`s alot of potental there! Mark
  16. This one makes it`s own gas and a good chance might win in a head on collision.

  18. This info should be made a sticky! It`s amazing how hard it is to find proper info on installing racing belts.
  19. Are you running an aftetrmarket block? I`m just wondering how your going to get 4.125 out of a factory GEN I 350 block. If you were using a 400sbc (4.125 bore) then the bore and stroke would come out to 427ci per the worldproducts rotating stroker kit. Mark
