  1. Hi Guys, The PDK strut bar ties into the reinforced locations on the firewall to triangulate the strut towers. There have been battery issues, my suggestion get a lower profile battery, an optima will clear no problem. here is one of our more recent installations on a V8 Z
  2. 240zt glad you liked my car. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=12311&size=big&sort=1&cat=500
  3. I suggested to the producers to go to Hybrid Z actually...they did go to zcar.com I understand. Believe it or not, they called Les Cannaday at Classic Datsun and Motorsport Auto. Les told them that they were crazy to try to do this.
  4. Hey T-Rex can I be the honorable jackstand #46? LOL
  5. Well, the show was a little hard to watch, BUT, I did like the footage of my car, you should see it now with the American Le Mans wheels on it now!!...T-Rex thanks for your complement. The bottom line here guys is that the twins had to deal with donated parts. This show was done on a shoe string. My personal experience with this was interesting as I was on hand for all the interviews with John and Trevor which was really fastinating. But not really used in the show. Les Cannaday came along with me, and wound up getting interviewed, and got more air time then john and trevor.... The bottom line, is it creates interest and excitment in the 240Z and that is good, and even though I had a hard time watching the show, as they moved from one scene to the next every 5 seconds.... Ron
  6. guys keep in mind that this is going to run on the west coast at 11:00PM also, and not at 8:00PM as originally expected.
  7. Okay, your wrong.... Installation is involved but not difficult. The most difficult part is removing the factory dash, on my car, the BRE replica it is installed with dzus fasteners which is more involved than a standard installation.
  8. Rufus, I know that they plan to run an initial run of 10, my suggestion would be to get one of that group, I know that three are already spoken for. It might be wise to get one of those 10 to eliminate any delay when you want to get a dash. Ron
  9. This is a race part and although I will pass along your request for a radio location, it is not likely that the mold will be modified in that mannor. The Pricing is $450.00 there is a special offer if you prepay your order. I would sugest that you contact PDK for more details. Ron
  10. 1971 Datsun 240Z. Airs on Sunday, November 7 at 11:00pm ET pn the History Channel In this episode, Japanese hustle meets American muscle! The Datsun 240Z was the first affordable people's sports car. We get an up-close look at the 1971 Datsun design engineering that proved light years ahead of its American competitors. Diving into their overhead cam engine, we tear it down and build it back up for a head-to-head drag race at full throttle! After supplying two teams with the classic cars, garages, tools, parts, and 20 hours of repair time, we hold an old-fashioned drag race on a legal, certified track with safety devices for the drivers. As we follow the teams, we interject history at each step they take, including factory footage and interviews with the legends behind the vintage vehicles. TVPG For more information you can go to http://www.historychannel.com.
  11. Yes, I know many of you have been waiting for some time and your waiting is finally over. PDK fabrication is now taking orders!! Go to http://www.PDKfabrication.com and click on the link or contact Mark at 760-724-0144.
  12. Chap, it is very likely you did see my car on I-5 on the way up to Nissan... I live in North San Diego County and would have been hauling it up or back from Nissan. I would have been on an open trailer towed by a GMC truck. We will be running it back into the shop to finish the last few items so that it is road worthy. Sport Compact Car has contacted us for a feature on the car...which we will do as soon as the car is in drivable condition. Look for that to come to your newsstand soon :) R
  13. The focus in the episode is drag racing the two cars and they were looking to John and Trevor for tips on how to drag a Z. BRE did drag race their 510 a little to see what it would turn. But this show is about 240Z's specifcally and is the first of six episodes that are being filmed, although it might not be the first shown... I beleive that they have already cast the team members to build the cars...although I have no idea who they are. But I am sure both cars will be a form of Hybrid.
  14. I was recently contacted by The History Channel, they asked to borrow my Z for filming an upcoming show called "Full Throttle" a reality show where two teams have two days to modify two datsun 240z's and race them..winner gets both cars... The History Channel interviewed John Morton and Trevor Harris (of BRE fame) and My car is parked behind them for the shoot. The show will air on the History Channel between October and December...Keep an eye out for it... Here are a few photos.
  15. Looks great. Well done, depending on what you do for a dash solution your front crossbar could interfere with your guages if you are modifying your factory dash.
  16. Les Cannaday has sellected back issues of Z car Mag and might be able to scrounge up that article. 760-940-6365
  17. Schlasken, I will get out and take some photos this next weekend, and look through my flies at the photos that have not been posted. Your question regarding the main hoop: Well it is a direct copy of the BRE racing roll bar with some additional support added. the main hoop and serveral bars are all 120 wall DOM tubing and should be very strong. I hope I never have to test it If I was looking at maximum strength for the chassis, I would look to tie the main hoop to the floor, and have dual crossbars in an x shape that attach to the top of the strut towers to the outside corners of the main hoop. I hope this helps Ron By the way just wait till you see my car with original American Racing Lemans wheels
  18. I can forward some additional photos and answer any questions. Glad you like the design.
  19. Jon is correct... You get what you pay for too. If your not racing it won't be that big of an issue. But for a fuel injected car you will need a surge tank within the tank itself with trap doors. In some applications a pump as well. ATL will build your cell to order and they build a superior product. I suggest that you contact them directly, they are genuinely interested in what you are doing and how you plan to implement their cell. They will also make recomendations based on their experience. All in all, I would buy another cell from them if I needed to.
  20. ATL makes a well cell tank (12 Gallons) that fits into the spare tire well nicely. I suggest a surge tank, especially for a fuel infected car internal pumps are available as well. Retail for a well cell with surge tank is around $600.00. I purchased one of these tanks and it works great for my race car.
  21. Anybody know what has happened to classiczcars.com/240z.org!? They have been off line since sometime on Saturday or Sunday?
  22. I too have extensive experence in the car audio industry. There are a couple of things I would suggest. Simple is best. Look at your budget and lets talk about what you are looking to do. I would suggest a reasonable deck, Amp front separates and small sub. for best results and the least amount of investment. Dynamat will help some, but you are better off spending the money elsewhere. A little dynamat in the right places will help some...
  23. I cant speak in regards to a porsche...but John Coffey did a lot of development work on his car to find out what a Z unibody does under severe stress. Ron
  24. There is pricing on the strutbar on the PDK web page...I believe that it is $249.00 You will have to ask the guys about an update on the dash. Ron
