  1. Hi Jon!! The PDK solution uses a single allen head bolt though the attachement points on each side adjacent to the strut towers. It is very simple to access the Valve Cover, only one bolt on one side needs to be removed. The mechanic's involved deal with the issues of the strut towers in the front of an early Z twisting so triangulation is a big deal for this application. Strut bars using a Rod end solution will move rendering the bar solution less effective... GO WCZR!! Ron
  2. Got to chime in here as well...there have been many posts regarding strut bars for a Datsun Z. We provide a solution as well... http://www.pdkfabrication.com Like John C, John Williams (car pictured above) had to change his rear swaybar set up because of the added strength of strut brace we added. 3. Marshall, The top picture (at the car show is my car) the other photo is an ITS car that is painted similar to my car and close to the original BRE paint scheme. If you look closely there are a few differences... Thanks though!! your photo is a good one and I have not seen that view yet... Ron
  4. Yakima worked really well on my Z, there are issues with clearance opening the hatch...the rails are pretty long and the roof of your Z is really short in comparison. Too bad, I just sold my rack a few weeks back for next to nothing...wish I knew that you needed one...
  5. No personal experience but have heard bad things...I run a fiberglass hood from Classic Datsun that fits perfect. If your interested contact Les Cannaday 760-940-6365
  6. Thanks Pete, It was a pleasure to meet you as well. We'll see you in Texas!! Hopefully we can get Gerry Mason there as well...It would be great to see the real car and my car next to each other.... Ron
  7. z-rex I am thrilled!! and could not be happier. The car is really together...and I am very pleased.
  8. the valve cover is flat black paint. Like the original BRE car. I like the BRE look too...The car is a very accurate representation of the original car, with the proper catch cans, racing motor, headers, Carbs, transmission and diferential. For all intesive purposes this is as close as you can get without buying Gerry Mason's original BRE #3.
  9. Well we made it to the show. It took a tone of work with five people working around the clock friday night to make it there...I am now just starting to recover....But it was worth it. Everything came together the car is unbelieveable...PDK fabrication did an unbelieveable job. I am so thrilled... We will have the car running in a few weeks and race ready in a few months. I still can't believe it!! here are some photos:
  10. here is an updated photo from the national z convention last weekend:
  11. Well we have been kicking some butt to get the car together for the National Z convention. Here are some photos and a link to the rest of the photos... Take a look: http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showgallery.php?thumb=1&cat=500&si=&perpage=12&sort=2&stype=&ppuser=932
  12. Rebello builds a good motor, my buddy bought a 2.9 L motor from them and spent around 5K.
  13. okay, here is my money pit too:
  14. I know that Mark Belrose has those struts, and has not been too happy with GC. They seem to be very slow delivering what they promise in a timely manor.
  15. Hey Jon, Go WCZR's!! well it will get track time...maybe not right away...but soon enough... DCarrow, the interior paint is Zolatone grey with silver flecks.
  16. enclosed are a few photos upon the return from the paint shop: More photos can be seen at: http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=10834&password=&sort=2&thecat=500
  17. PDK Racing makes a fiberglass dash. Here is a pic of mine.
  18. The Brackets you mentioned are for the oil cooler, I am trying to be as close to the original car as possible. I do have a Harrison Corvette Radiator, but it is in poor shape. Most likely I will run my Ron Davis radiator.
  19. Here are some of the first photos from the paint shop:
  20. Phil, Keep in mind that Nissan does not make all it's own racing parts so, there will be issues with headers made by one company for Nissan and a comp pan made by another company for Nissan that wont work together... As I mentioned before, Don builds the pans for Nissan Comp. As for cost, I have a friend that has a dry sump set up on his Z car, I can't give you an exact cost of the parts to put together that system but I know he spent close to 1K on AN lines and fittings alone..I would suspect to buy all of the equipment (NEW) necessary we are looking at $3500 to $4K... For 15 HP that is a LOT of $$$. I would look a few other places to pick up HP before considering that option.
  21. DP Racing is in Long Beach CA, Don Oldenberg, owner of DP Racing, builds the pans that Nissan Comp sells for $700 bucks. You can contact Les Cannaday 760-505-9246 and order from him since Don can be very difficult to reach, and generally does not sell direct (he will refer you to Nissan). I think you will find that Les's pricing is VERY good. Much better than Nissan... R
  22. The pump, AN lines oil tank etc will cost you a bundle, for a small HP gain, better off going to DP Racing for a comp pan. R
  23. Preith, I hope so. There are so many things still left to be done. I will probably have it put together but not in running order for the show... I was really hoping to drive it at the track day, but I just dont see that as a reality at this point due to several delays pushed back getting the car to the paint shop. I know that the paint guys are working on it to get it back to me ASAP, but I don't feel that it is right to rush getting the car done at the last minute so that it can be driven at the convention. I would prefer to put the time and effort into getting it right at this point. At this point I have to note that PDK Fabrication has busted their butt to get this car to this point, and these guys have really put their heart, and expert skills to task to get this car done. they have built this car right and as quickly as humanly possible. This would not have been possible without their tireless efforts.
  24. PDK has been working on the mold for some time, but have not been able to focus on it as much as they would like. There are about 25 people on the waiting list. The mold has required an extensive amount of modification so that we can extract the dash without destroying the mold. If you were at MSA this year I was there with my car and it's fiberglass dash... Now that my car is in the paint shop PDK will be able to focus on getting the dash done and ready for prime time. Thanks for your patience.
