  1. Guys, getting one of these are not a big deal, I have had one (although not installed it yet) for 6+ months. I believe I paid closer to $450.00 USD for it. All it takes is someone in Japan to buy one and ship it to you. There are modifications necessary depending on what head you install it into... Ron
  2. John Coffey ran his car in the OTR series on the West Coast. His car was purpose built to run in this series, and John can give you the details... There are many classifications you can run with your Z, in the South East you might be able to run Vintage. On the west coast TCRA will let you run your 280 FI. I would look at SVRA, TCRA, HSR and NASA.
  3. Sure Did! It was really cool to see Pete Brock driving my BRE Replica! R
  4. Just got a few advance copies from Sports Car International, which should be hitting the newstands presently. There are photos from Fontana, the JGTC weekend. And a great article with 35 years of Nissan Datsun Racing with photos the Nismo GT500 350Z and my BRE Replica, and a great article! Check it out!! Some great Z car coverage from a fun weekend. Ron
  5. contact Les Cannaday at Classic Datsun 760-940-6365 He should be able to help you.
  6. Dan, Next time check with DP Racing. http://www.designproductsracing.com they make a number of these parts for other vendors. Ron
  7. 1)Most race cars that are driven get beat up over time. 2) Most guys that race frequently know what works. 3) Lots of ugly cars have very expensive engines 4) anything to prelube your motor prior to turning it over is a good idea 5) $400 is cheap insurance on a $10k motor 6) most Ferrari owners do not race their cars Moroso and Canton Mecca both make accusumps and I run one in my racing Z.
  8. I Drove a Ruf Modified 930 Porsche, with an Andial Motor. It is the fastest, best handling sports car I ever drove. but the price tag...ouch!!
  9. my 12/70 had one on it when I got it.
  10. I used a 3Qt accusump, with electric valve and pressure regulator and it works great. My setup uses an outboard filter so the install was not a big deal. I believe that there are adapter rings that will allow you to space out the filter in the stock location about 1 inch that allows for a cooler, just plumb into the high pressure side and you will be all set. Ron
  11. Well the obvious answer is a 3Qt accusump. I run one with my race motor to protect against what you were referring to. Cost is minimal (about $350.00) with a little plumbing you'll be all set. R

  17. I was contacted by Nissan at the ZCCA show at Nissan HQ this summer and have worked with the marketing department on a few projects. The next "project" is the GT LIVE show at California Speedway December 17th and 18th with a magazine spread in Sports Car International. I guess my point is Nissan will look at every project that they get involved in and see what they will get out of it. They look for Print advertising and TV exposure. They will work with you every way they can, but I would not look for a paycheck from Nissan. Most of Nissan has "shifted" away from vintage racing...They focus on supporting teams that have a track record and experience, racing their new products that will positively effect saes. This is a difficult field to break into...
  18. Dan, contact Don Oldenberg DP RACING. http://www.designproductsracing.com/DesktopDefault.aspx They make all of the stuff your asking for, the way you want it made. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=11114&sort=1&cat=500&page=4
  19. There were certain areas of the car we had to cut access holes to weld all the way around the tubes. A few holes in the roof and the floors. It is tricky slow work, but if done correctly.... Ron
  20. Yes, you are correct. I was looking to juwt trianglate the strut towers. the other 2 tubes come up from my roll cage and are tied into the strut towers, the two middle bars are tied into the firewall were there are structual supports. R
  21. Guys we have rolled out our strut braces for V8 240Z's see photo and attached links for more photos. http://www.pdkfabrication.bravepages.com/Current.htm
  22. Take a look at my link below, there are lots of photos of my cage and how we tied it into the roll cage. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=6784&sort=2&cat=500&page=12
