I received the hks actuators today and intalled them. They fit perfect even though the directions were in Japanese. I really not sure how you adjust the boost pressure with the length of the actuator rod so I kept them stock length. Once again thanks!
-
I am no mechanic also but if you remove the ACC won't your idle hunt for a speed while cold. I would think it would surge up and down till fully warm.
-
CanadianZ- are you using a manual boost controller or running off the wastegate springs?
-
I plan on running around 9-10 lbs. That should be enough to make the Z crazy fast.
-
Thanks! I was wondering why there was so many boost lines going crazy. On my boosted 350z I set it up so much easier. I'm gonna run the lines when my hks wastegate actuators come in. I just wanted to make sure the rb's ecu doesnt go crazy without the evap canister.

I was looking at my R32 service manuel on all the boost lines that come off the motor and spoke with alot of 240sx guys with rb25/26 swaps and they told me to just cap off the hard boost lines that go to the evap canister and turbo pressure control solenoid and just run off the wastegate springs and plumb those to the intake manifold. Do you guys think this is a good move? It eliminates all the confusion of those boost lines. Should I plumb in a manual boost controller to replace the turbo pressure control solenoid since I didn't get one or a evap. can. with my purchase? Also I'm getting the valve covers powder coated so where do I buy the spark plug cover name plate that says Skyline GTR on it?

Thanks I ordered them both. This forum has been very helpful!

Stony you're the man and thanks. Drew where did you find that on ebay? I have been searching all this weak. Thanks

Does anyone know where i can get 2 OEM wastegate actuators or aftermarket ones? Mine were damaged in shipping and I need to replace them. I found HKS adjustable actuators but they are around 450.00 plus shipping from Japan. Also I purchased the greddy intake plenum and need to know if the intake manifold gasket (the one between the head and throttle bodies) is the one I need to buy or do I need the throttle body gaskets? I know that I will not be removing the throttle bodies that are against the heads for the install so that is why I am confused.

Most of the oil lines where bent and the vacuum hoses to one wastegate was cut from the turbo. After wiping down the engine it looks like most of the oil came from the crankcase breather hose that is on the turbo side. The tube was connected to the crankcase but not on the intake side so when the motor was rolled on that side the oil spilled out. There doesn't seem to be any damage to the turbos but like the post above the damage can be to the head. Well here goes to the ulcers that I will be forming.

Thanks for the offer. If I am in need I will let you know.

I got the motor today and it was damaged during shipping. The red shink wrap was just layed ontop of the motor, the pallet was busted in two and the oil feed turbo lines were damaged by the turbo housing (source of the oil spill). The shipping company took full blame and admitted it was damaged during shipping. I contacted the supplier and he stated he needs pictures and a copy of the invoice to do an insurance claim. He is very cooperative so far and stated he will replace the broken parts. So the drama continues.

The motor and tranny were suppose to be delivered today but didn't. I checked the tracking number and it was at a loading dock about 1.5 hours away. I called the loading dock and they stated that they couldn't ship the package because it was leaking oil and will deliver it tomorrow. I contacted the company I bought the motor from and they stated it should not be leaking oil and to inspect the pallet for damage and that is was shrink wrapped in red shrink wrap with no tears or openings. If there is any damage to the pallet or shrink wrap to not accept the package and send it back. Lets cross our fingers and pray there is nothing wrong with my motor.

Sorry but i don't have the Rb26 AWD tranny. The purchase came with a 25 tranny.

Well I hope everything works out. You guys have really gotten me scared on my purchase, especially since it is a 30 day start up warrenty and it will be in my garage for longer. Did you say you purchased your last engine from JDM-Miami or from Miami the city?
-
I ordered it off of ebay from jdm miami. From the pics it looks to be in really great condition but I should find out later this week when it arrives. I came with the RB26 and RB25 tranny for a complete swap for 4500.
-
Also is the oil pan a complete bolt on or are there modifications to be made to the pan to fit?
-
Thanks for the part numbers, it will help alot. Does anyone know the weight if the rb by itself?
-
Well I have decide on the Rb26 with Rb25 tranny and will be ordering it today. I will be going with the full mckinney swap kit to make my life alot easier. How much does the RB26 motor weigh and what is the nissan part number for the oil pan that bolts up and works with this kit? I've tried the search for the weight but only found the weight of the heads. Thanks.

Does anyone know the bulb sizes that are used to light up the speedo, tach and the gauges? I just bought some white faced gauges and would like to replace the bulbs with some led units. Thanks

I will probably purchase the rota rb-r's 17x8.5 with +4 offset in the rear. I was thinking of buying 17x7.5 with +12 offset for the front. I want the staggered look. With a +12 offset on the front does it mean that it will have a 8mm difference in the size of the lip than a +4 offset? I don't like the way the front wheels bulge out past the fender in the front with 8.5 inch rim and think a 7.5 inch rim will tuck better.
-
I have volks on my 350z with a 22 offset and it has a pretty big lip so im thinking the 20 offset would look great. I dont want to run spacers but i might have to.
-
Does anyone know if the ROTA D2 17X7.5 with 20 offset for the front and 17X8.5 with 20 offset for the rear fit? I really like these wheels but have not seen any on a Z yet. Also if these wheels do fit will i need a center cap like the RB-Rs to fit the Z hub?

PICS of my new Rota RB-R

Well I tried to order my hyper black rb-r's but I wanted 17X7.5 front and 17X8.5 rear. I love the staggered look and it allows alittle more clearance. I called around and e-mailed numberous places but I guess they don't make 17X7.5. -
I installed the new headlight switch and no luck. I unplugged all the plugs at the headlights and replugged them and still no go. I am fustrated and I guess I will have to send it to the shop to trouble shoot and back track the wiring.
