  1. helpful info..was just about to look into what brake booster i can use since im pretty sure mine is original/leaking vacuum
  2. Hey guys, wondering if anyone has a parts car that they would like to cut up and sell me the battery tray along with the inner fender wall that it is connected to. I can post a pic later if that isn't the right terminology. Im located in norcal, will pickup, and will pay for shipping if it isn't $$$$$$$. PM for fastest reponse. Thanks!
  3. lol "returned to the earth" thats a pretty true statement right there...the ones i find in the jyard are usually halfway through the process. awesome find btw!
  4. my car is super ultra faded red, does that one count? haha debating if it will stay red or ill pick something else when i repaint
  5. hahaha Tanuki I was inquiring about that car as well, and got the same vibe from that dude. They practically mis-advertised the car, and told me all kinds of different stuff. Then they agreed to post pics on craigslist and wow I ran away from that nightmare. I forgot to mention that one of my first mods will be an ALARM..cuz CA is scary and I read too many stolen Z stories. One thing I noticed when I got back is my key does not work in the doors, trunk, or glove box..lol only the ignition. The key code is totally worn off the glove box sticker..yet the part that says KEY CODE: is perfectly fine lol. Gotta pull off that pass side door cover and grab the code from the lock..hopefully those all match off..
  6. haha that is awesome! i was able to get my first Z on the 19th..one day after you. makes for an awesome Christmas! I noticed a few small differences from my 71 dash/console to the 72 you have. Congrats!!!
  7. address that rust under the battery then and start sanding down the car to prep for paint. it is sleeping safe in the garage so it is safe from more cancer..haha i hope
  8. Well I have been looking for a Z on and off for the past maybe five years. Every time I got excited about one I see for sale, I was either too late or it turned out to be no good (rust wise). My girlfriend happened to be scouting around for me and ended up finding a 71 240Z in Nevada. It is about 3hr and 45min drive from where I live in CA to where the Z was. The next morning as soon as I was up, I called the gentleman and he said I was the first to say I would come and look at it and that he would hold for me in case other locals would come during my drive time. When I arrived I immediately fell in love with the car, and upon inspection for rust fell even more in love with her. There is the typical rust under the battery tray, but everywhere else is in very good shape with only a few places with surface rust. I actually drove the car home from Nevada back to my home with the only issues being vibration from old unbalanced tires, and going over the mountain on hwy 80 it started to get a little hot (3/4) to red and then cooled back down. I only have iphone pics right now, but once I unload my camera I will post better ones! I really cant even begin to explain how excited I am! haha make fun of me if you will.
  9. even after all the weaknesses you got it for $100? with a few bolt ons it is not a bad engine, and you can make power with it. even if puts down the same power as an sr20det it does have a better valvetrain design compared to the sr20det. since you are going to sell it off after building, i am sure someone will buy it.
  10. well it looks like one great find from the pictures. now you just have to inspect it in person and cross fingers it really is in good condition. good luck!
  11. that is seriously an incredible find!! congrats on the car, it looks awesome!
  12. Thanks Stony, haha but im looking for something extremely stock =) you do have a nice built car so GLWS! Im just basically looking for a stock 240/early 260z that either is just a rolling shell or complete but does not run. Thanks again for the replies!
  13. Check on the backside to see if they are stamped with a brand? From what I know most Nissan rims are stamped on the backside..but I am not sure about older ones. They are really clean though!
  14. Hello guys, I am looking for a rolling shell/non-running 240Z and only up to 1974 260Z around the norcal area. I am not looking for something already restored or fixed up. Please PM for fastest response or respond to thread. Thanks!
  15. Aww nice find, i recently when to all the pick n pulls in the bay area and did not see anything nice or earlier than a late model 280z. which yard did you find it at?
  16. Thank you all for the info. Ive been planning to go to Japan next year and just wanted to have it as a possibility. It would be interesting to inspect those Japanese "restored" cars and see if they really lack any care on the body itself.
  17. well actually the 25yr law is you are able to import foreign cars 25 years or older and not have to deal with the insane DOT restrictions, not to be confused with smog exemption of 75 and older. the only reason why i ask is i have seen a few nice ones in japan that aren't a crazy amount of money. A few months ago I saw an authentic 1976 Fairlady Z on craigslist, and it spiked my curiousity. I have nothing against getting a Z here in the states, but just wondering if anyone had the experience of importing one.
  18. curious if anyone on this board has any experience importing a pre-75 fairlady? i know about the 25yr rule..but just wanted some feedback on experience dealing with brokers/customs. thanks!
  19. sorry to hear about that. curious as to why the brake failure?
  20. by interchangeable you mean bolt on right? im sure with some modification some of those front pieces will work. the hood definitely needs to be replaced, but i want to start finding some 240z front pieces. any experiences with this? or if you could point me in the right direction would be cool too.
  21. i just bought a 75 280z and it is in need of a new hood. what years are interchangeable? i tried looking around but couldnt find a great answer and some places said small modifications etc. thanks for the help!
