  1. I second this as an inspiration. Very well executed!
  2. you have done some awesome work man! hopefully some free time will come up and you can work on that bad boy. looking forward to seeing more updates
  3. thats pretty awesome it worked out with the zx stock driveshaft! man must be getting a lost closer to coming home too haha
  4. nice! pretty cool tip on the speedo sensor. I was just curious..but since you went with the volvo mounts, what driveshaft did you end up using? I thought that was pretty cool you guys were able to find a OEM solution that should be pretty cheap to replicate.
  5. Hey Sam - the lower radiator hose is in good shape and isn't collapsing. Kind of wish it was so I can solve this
  6. Thanks for the reply guys. The thermostat is a new oem one, but i can pull it out and boil it just to make sure its working. It does seem to be opening as both radiator hoses are hot after when it should open. It doesnt seem to be losing any fluid so far either. I read a lot of people were saying the temp guage is not really accurate, but im just a little suspicious since it was fine just a month ago. Have to check the temp after I snag my friends cool laser temp gun. I did however drive the car around after work, and at idle/35mph it stays dead center for temp. Once I start driving faster 35+ I can see the temp start to crawl its way up to 3/4 and just stay there. Usually if it was a blown HG, wouldnt it just keep overheating into oblivion? The only cars I worked on with blown HGs you could definitely tell since they would heat up and never come back down.
  7. Hey howler, thanks for the reply. The clutch fan is working and pulling air in..seems to be not heating up much more than normal for stop and go. However the car really does heat up once you are up to speed at 40+. I checked my ign timing yesterday, and it is still fine 19 idle, 35~ all in. any suggestions? I still need to go buy comp tester and coolant pressure tester. My comp tester got smashed during the move =( I am suspecting either I have a blown headgasket, or my radiator is trashed...
  8. Just wanted to get some opinion from you guys. These are spark plugs from cyl 1 & 2. Kinda hard to tell with crappy cell phone pic, but the burn has a greenish tint to it. The rest of the spark plugs are normal darkish brown burns, which cyl 1 & 2 also looked like a month ago. My L24 just randomly started overheating, nothing extreme, but the temps rise up to about 3/4 and then come back down. Waterpump and thermostat are new, radiator is fairly new. almost seems to me like a headgasket..but dont want to jump to conclusions until i get coolant pressure/compression tester.
  9. Yay more local people! We should all roll out to the seafood city meet once your car is done Andy! hopefully mine will still be running haha
  10. dreaming of 220v in new garage..

  12. Yeah I was there with my red 240Z. I parked over closer to the lawn and tables, cant seem to find a pic from the event but its posted somewhere haha. anyway glad to see progress has been good. the setup is looking cleeeeaaaannnn!! getting so close to finishing, then you wont have to watch youtube RB videos anymore haha
  13. sorry to see that happen man. you are going the better route by replacing the piston anyway. would suck if you rebuilt and put back together, only to have piston crack 2k miles or so down the road.
  14. man thats some good progress. tackling two projects at the same time is exhausting for time and money haha. it will all be worth it when u turn the key and go for your first drive! from the pics earlier i remembered where i have seen your car before. were you at the shadow cliffs meet last year? i dont remember seeing the car at the lake this year however, probably already under the knife? haha i have seen very few fixed up Zs in our area around WC, probably hiding from the bad weather lately lol
  15. is it always at the same RPM range?
  16. just got a chance to go through the whole thread...and wow. hope it puts a fat smile on your face once you finally finish. looks to be soon too!
  17. nice to see a local car turning into a beast! hope to see it in person sometime
  18. did you check the boost cut solenoid? it would be plumbed via vacuum house in between your wastegate and cold pipe usually. either stuck or wired incorrectly, just my guess
  19. Hello All, Looking to buy complete rear passenger side suspension for a 240z. basically everything except the axle/shock/spring. Hopefully looking to buy from someone local, but can also consider shipping as long as its a good deal. Thanks for looking!
