A little back ground for you guys who do not know my project. I have a 73 240Z and I’m in the middle of installing a RB26DETT with a GTS-T 5 speed. Here is where I am at. The transmission was touching the old mounting brackets in the tunnel, so I drilled out the spot welds and removed the old mounts, now I moved the motor so far back that the passenger side valve cover vent is now touching the hood catch on the fire wall. I will just dent in the hood catch bracket in order to clear the vent. Now with the motor in place I removed the front turbo and bolted my laser cut flanges to the block and stock 204Z rubber motor mounts. Then I bent up a coat hanger to get the angles and distance between the two plates, and then transferred that to 1.5x1.5 x .25 thick angle iron. And then tack welded the plates to the angle iron then removed them. Now I will take the mounts to my friend and get them TIG welded, sand blasted and painted with POR-15. Then reinstall them and start on the trans mission mount. But how to make that now?? I like the look of these ones that attach to the tunnel what do you guys think? The JTR one just bolts through the floor I don’t know if I like that too much? Scotty GNZ uses that type of mount. So i'm sure it holds up fine. Give me your input. Thanks. I can not figure out how to post pic’s but I can send some to you guys if you want, just let me know.

I USED SOCKETS AND A PRESS ON THE FRONT ONES. AND FOR THE REAR I USED A HACKSAW TO CUT THEM THEN AN AIR HAMMER TO POUND THEM OUT, WISH I COULD OF USED A PRESS ON THE REARS BUT I COULD NOT GET IT TO WORK. THEN I SAND BLASTED THEM AND PAINTED THEM WITH POR-15. BUT YES IT IS A PAIN TO GET THEM OUT. -

jason, the guy that got me the motor, trany, driveshaft did not have time to get the motor mounts so when he goes back to japan he said he will send them to me, i can ask him how much he wants for some if you want? he should get them to me by late October. if i dont use mine i would sell them to you.

Stony are you talking about T28 / super 60 turbos? Turbonetics sells them for 950$ good for 300hp each they told me but I think he was talking about a talon. I have z31 motor mounts coming but if some one is making custom ones that move the motor back I will buy them. If not how hard do you think it would be to make them? Stony looks like you fell in love with the ¼ mile, switching to auto and a ford 9”? That should make it bomb proof! All said and done how fast do you want to be in the ¼? I just want to run 11.00-11.30’s do you think I could do it with g-force DR 225/45R17’s?
-
TURBOS LOVE FREE FLOWING EXHAUST THAT ALONE MUST BE GOOD FOR A LOT OF THE GAINED POWER, WITH NO CATS. HAVE YOU EVER LOOKED UNDER A 300ZX TWIN TURBO? THAT EXHAUST SYSTEM HAS 4 CATS 2 PRE MUFFLERS AND 2 MUFFLERS NOT TO MENTION SMALL DIA TUBING. STONY ON SOME OF YOUR POSTS YOU MENTION 225 TIRES WHAT KIND OF 1/4 TIMES ARE YOU GETTING WITH THEM? ARE THAY DR'S? THAT IS WHAT I'M RUNNING ALL AROUND ON THE STREET 225/45R17'S BFG G-FORCE DR'S, JUST WONDERING HOW THAY WILL HOOK UP WITH MY RB26DETT.

RB26Z Yes data logging would be nice, but I looked in to Motec and Electromotive and they cost so much more. And seeing as how SDS is made in Canada I don’t have to feel the pain of your dollar ($1.00u.s = $0.60can). So I’m still thinking SDS but I have a question for you, do you run the SDS coils or the stock RB’s? If you look on SDS web page (http://www.sdsefi.com) in there project page under Nissan Ceffiro twin turbo, that guy is just running there fuel computer not the fuel / spark computer. Is it possible to run the stock coils controlled by their computer? And some one on this forum said you were running 15psi? I did not think the stock turbos could hold up over 14psi? Is this true? Thanks for all the info.

I will be installing an rb26dett in my 73 this winter so now I’m looking for a computer. I will save $1800can or 1150$us if I buy an SDS computer over the other makes. The only down fall I see is that SDS dose not have data logging. So my question is how much will data logging help me? I can get on a dyno because I know the owners of a shop that have one. Would I not just set my computer once anyway, unless I made any major mods? What else should I know?

I paid 6500u.s for a rb26 with 20, 000km or 12,000m, gts-t 5 speed, gts-t drive shaft, rb25 oil pan, flywheel and clutch + new clutch plate and zr200 (z31 with an rb20) motor mounts. As far as computers I was looking at SDS, but now I’m starting to think otherwise RB26Z told me that if he did it all over again he would buy some thing with data logging, not SDS What do you guys think of Haltech? Do any of the computer company’s have add on boost controller?

i know the aeromotive pump is big, but overkill in this area is a good thing right?? a guy i know has one in his 67 camaro. and even tough it is the size of a coffee can, its not as loud coffee grinder. i just found a lsd r200 for 250$can so like aprox 160$u.s. so i think i will pick it up. i have been wating for this other junk yard to get a turbo 300zx in, because i can get them for 50$can but i keep finding 85 and under with out lsd there.
