Who's running 255/40/17's on all fours unflared
cyrus replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Ok so Mike Kelly showed us the rear fit but the fronts 255?... -
1. R200 = strong 2. axles can be made strong 3. stub axles are never strong for road racing...

Stupind nubie question (answer anyway though)
cyrus replied to a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
My goodness... for the amount of time, work and money it takes to do a swap I am amazed at the junk people are thinking of starting with. I bought my car for 2300 bucks, not perfect but nice and met my criteria. I look for about a year to find it. I think patience and careful planning pay off big time. I had the whole car planned out and writen down before I had started. I even had the drivetrain purchased before the car! -

Cobra R 17x9 24mm oem, Weight
cyrus replied to cyrus's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Oops, I meant on the front, will 255/40/17 work with the 17x9 24mm offset with 300zx hubs, CO's and no flares on the front? -
I ordered Cobra R 17x9 24mm oem wheels They weigh 21.8 pounds I am going to run the CO's and 5 lugs, no flares, I know 245/45/17 will fit, but I never heard back if the 255/40/17 fit. I have not weighed the 36mm yet.

My Happiest Day, 911 + Nurburgring. Ok actually when I got married, or when raced at.... never mind. I went on a business trip to Dusseldorf, Germany. After my trade show, we went to rent a 911, 40 anniversary addition that has the optional 18's, 2004(?). The rental people were a big problem after reserving this car weeks in advance and meeting all kinds of criteria, reading there German agreement they denied me picking up the car because I did not have a Diners Card or American Express. I asked for a manager like 3 or 4 times, which they could not produce. I had my retail agreement in hand and explained that I HAD fulfilled my end of the contract repeatedly. Possessing a great deal of persistent (as all successful hybriders do) I wore them down until they finally relinquished the car. All the while the agents were complaining in German about with the internet anyone could rent a 911 etc, not knowing that my wife speaks Germany and understood them. So we headed south past Koln along windy little tiny roads and obscure villages. We came into Nurburg which is a one street village. The weather was always somewhat wet which made a 911 about the last choice for going fast. Ok so get this, you buy tickets (14 euro) at a little booth and just insert them into machine like at a parking garage and go! There are no requirements for the track other than if you get rear ended while on the left it is your fault (normal in Germany), do not stop, and wear your seat belt. I was told that the Track is considered a toll road! I even overtook a tour bus on the Track! The track is 22 km long and surrounds several villages. This thing literally made me think of living in Germany. I did seven laps and did not crash my Porsche. The straight is about 2 miles long (literally), but is sectioned in to thirds for our day, bumpy too. I got up to 215 km but was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO scared because the pavement was wet and bump and the car would dance around. As far as the my assessment of the 911, is that is a wonderful track car and a terrible: road, GT, comfort, commute, drag race car. The most important thing was that is was consistent in its response so you could learn to predict it, but it was not that powerful. I have got pictures if someone would like to host them. Cyrus

350Z Track wheels on 240Z? I need to know if they will fit on the front with 300zx hubs, coilovers, and not spacers. They are 18x8 with 30 mm offset.

I think a strong RB/ 2zj / ls1/ ls6/ or SR20 should be enough to lay smack down. I would want a balence yet HORRENDOUSLY POWERFUL car to represent us at hybridz.

SACRAMENTO RACEWAY REPORT! I meet Mas280 (mike) at the drags unfortunate I was so busy/distracted that I did not talk much. He was running about 123 trap speeds in the RX-7 with the LS1. Mike you the man for now, I hope to have my 240 faster than you soon. All trip at stock boost ~11psi So for you that remember my first trip to the drags netted runs about 13.9@102 mph the car was erractic. I closed the spark plug gap on my second trip to the drags netted runs about 13.5@106.5 consitantly. Now this trip I ran toluence 6:1 so (6gallons of gas x 91octane)+(1 gallon of tolunene x 114 octane) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- = 94.3 octane 7 gallons total This eliminated knocking (i think), so the car ran about 13.2@109 so I then reset the ECU (fuse pulled) and took the car out again. The car then ran 12.9@112.7mph. I also noted that my voltage is fluctuted on my car so that be worth a little more power. So now I feel I have a decent base line to start modifing the car from. I will start with turing the boost up to 17 psi and installing a blow off valve. See ya!

I am running the supra 6 speed getrag tranny. It is small and strong. The shift handle does come out about 4 inches FARTHER than the stock. Look for my 2jz link for pics.
