  1. Correct, it's a black tube chassis 240Z with a old school 400 sbc. Where do you do most of your racing? I was just wondering because I have not seen your Z at the track. I would really like to sneak a peak under your car sometime, I really am going to have to do a solid swap like it or not as it will not hold up to the abuse. I am running the r200 LSD clutch type diiferential with added clutches, CV axle conversion, billet stub adapters and 280z stub axles. I snap the axles right at the axle turn down to the spline area. Do you know anyone who can do a solid axle swap, anyone you would recommend? I can do alot of things but believe that maybe more than I can realistically handle. Thanks, Mike
  2. I would be interested as well. I have broken 3 280z stub axles as of late and thats on motor, If I hit the bottle they snap instantly...talk about scary.
  3. Do you know Chris White aka WhiteBoy over in Ft. Worth? I think he bought Jason D.'s old silver Z a few years ago but has since sold it to his brother or cousin in Tenessee.
  4. When you say it the mail carrier dana 44 rear end fits underneath the Z with no shortening, etc. I was wondering if the housing/case is cast and if so how can you weld on it without weakening it tremendously? Are you running the stock axles or have you upgraded, also are you using a locker, spool or hylical? Also if you wouldn't mind, do you have any pictures of the underside of your Z, I would like to see how your set up looks if you do not mind. Did you do a mini tub or leave it stock? I would like to keep the floor boards in tact as I am 6' 2" and already have head room issues with a helmet on, I deleted the seat framing mounts and made my own up thus lowering the after market seat 2 more inches.
  5. I maybe interested in it, let me get back to you in a day or two. Where do you live in La? Mike
  6. Do you happen to know what year and model you got yours out of? I am looking into a solid axle swap, either an 8.8 or maybe what you ended up doing. Did the ladder bars cause any issues with clearances underneath, seating, etc.. The last 3 trips to the track have ended with snapped stub axles, not one pass on the bottle even. snapped on motor passes, last one snapped as soon as I hit the juice rolling out 2 cars. Heck the car is no monster, it's a 10 second car on motor.
  7. I too am sick of breaking the rear stub axles. I just installed 2 and my first time back to the track at Ennis, Tx. I snapped one trying to hit the juice at the 60 ft. mark. I am done, no more ind. rear end. On a positive note I ran a new best on motor only, 10.56 at 128.
  8. Pete is right on, I had a set of 200cc Canfields on my 383 for 3 plus years and was very happy with them. Ran a best of 10.80 at 125 on that combo. I now have a set of the AFR 210 Eliminators and like them as well. Ran a new all motor best today of 10.56 at 128.34...too bad I busted another stub axle today! Mike
  9. How in the heck are you not breaking the stub axles, I have busted 3 this year alone and I am running 383 sbc that runs high tens on motor and a 175 shot that I cannot use as I snap stuff on motor. Rolling out and hitting the bottle in 2nd it runs 10.30's at 135-138.
  10. I would be interested in a 40 spline design. I am tired of snapping the 27 spline axles every couple of months, longer if I stay away from the dragstrip.
  11. My car is not as fast as yours but breaks stub axles like candy canes. I cannot hit the juice out of the hole or "BOOM" goes the stub axles. I have a r200 LSD, Modern Motorsports adapters with CV axles and 280Z stub axles. I have snapped 4 this year alone on the motor only. It only runs 10.80's on the motor, with 1.5X 60 ft's. I would love to launch on the sauce but have my doubts even if I used the Modern Motorsports custom axles. The cars need an axle that is stouter and had atleast 31 splines to take the abuse.
  12. I just snapped my stock 27 spline stubbs again. I am going to have to do something soon as breaking these week in and week out sux. I am leaving on the motor and not even hitting the bottle yet for fear or an explosion back there. I would like to try and get a nine second pass one of these days!
  13. I too have had the same problem but installed a Stainless Steel vacuum kit I picked up off Ebay for 150 bucks. We tried the junk yard variety and most sucked ass, did work but not for long. Maybe they sat in a junk yard too long! Either way the vacuum pump works wonders as I only make 5-7" of vacuum at idle with it in gear and that would not have cut it!
  14. I used to post her under Zfan but when I moved and change my email, etc...it seems I could not post on here or get a new password? Maybe I had been away for tooo long...long story! Anyway it's nice to be back around HybridZ! I just rebuilt my sbc 385 and bolted on a set of AFR Eliminator 210's. I am suprised that they added no improvement over the little 200cc Canfields that were essencially an out of box head. I did change cams as well too so maybe that was part of it. I went from a Comps xr2288hr-10, 236/242-520-540 110 lobe seperation to a 119651 Crane cam 240/240-605/605 with a 110 lobe seperation. The car is actually slower by 2 tenths, go figure. Atleast they are nice looking heads, just alot to spend for nice looking heads. Mike
