  1. I am using a 700R4 with a B&M Hammer shifter. I cut a hole in the tunnel and riveted a aluminum box in approx. 3-4" into the tunnel to lower the shifter. I have had that set up for 10 yrs and love it!
  2. I run the 255/60-15 Mickey Thompson Drag Radials and love them. Best time of 9.72 at 140 on them.
  3. I am going to take an educated guess at weight savings, close to 100 lbs and more power. Standard Sbc's make power thru 23 degree heads, Lsx's make power thru 15 degree heads with fuel injection to boot! Wasn't trying to be a smart ass!
  4. After studying the pic's posted I am left wondering why those headers would not fit an auto, am I missing something? I had to modify my Hooker Super Comp long tubes on my sbc 385 gen one build in my 240Z.
  5. I see your point! I am going to hit it with a 150 shot.
  6. The L76 is basically a LS2 with an LS3 top end, compression is only 10.4 vs 10.9 on the LS2 cathederal design set up. I am looking at an EPS roller cam 226/234-.598/.612 on a 114+2 LSA, .650 dbl roller springs and 7.425 hardened push rods. Any thoughts on this cam, I am also considering an EPS 230/242 .593/.600 on a 113 LSA. I am concerened that the first cam might make too much low end torque for my little 240Z and not hook up.
  7. I am worried about it fitting but I am sure I could make it fit, it just would be a lot of owrk. My transmission guy said to take a look at a 4L65, said they are a lot stronger than the 4L60...?
  8. My transmission guy quoted 1.5" wider. We shall see soon enough.
  9. I have run a 700r4 in mine for yrs with a first gen sbc on the hose (spray), they are decent if you do not run them in a heavy pig. My friend killed several built 4l60's in his 64 Chevy II with a 402 LS2 and spray (125) shot. I looked at the transmission dimensions on the 4L60, 700r4, 4L80, 200r4 and the 4L80 doesn't seem to much bigger, mainly longer!
  10. I was thinking along those lines but worry that it may interfer with a set of long tubes? My long tubes on my first gen sbc are real tight with the stock style oil pan.
  11. Went to BrokenKitty and read there info regarding the Ls swaps. Is this the best bang for your buck engine mounts/conversion? I did not find anyone else out there but thought before I purchased a pair I would check as I would rather not be kicking myself in the butt for screwing up. I am only looking for the motor mounts as I am adding a 4L80E behind it and nobody makes stuff for this. The good thing is I am 20 minutes away from there shop, no freight but will have to pay taxes. Thanks Mike
  12. I still have that transmission (700r4) I bought from you yrs ago. I had it rebuilt 7 yrs ago and it has gone down the track many, many a times. It's funny how people say you cannot make a 700r4 live, bull! I have probably 50-70 9 to 10 second passes on that not to mention how many low-mid 6 second 1/8th mile passes. My head would spin at all the street passes I have made too....LOL Not sure if you remember me, I went by Zfan then but somehow my membership got jacked after I stayed away too long! Mike
  13. 6 quarts is fine really, I just like the G8 pan. Good idea for road crap elinination...LOL I really like the idea, sorry little critters!
  14. What oil pan are you folks running on your set ups, I would love to be able to keep the Pontiac G8 pan as it hold "8" quarts!
  15. I am shopping for the 4L80E as we speak, just got to call Edge and find the right converter and stall fpr my application. The wrong converter will really mess things up for me.
  16. Anyone running a 4L80E in their Z's? I am looking at the 4L80E because of it's noted thrength and the need for an overdrive transmission. My old build has/had a 700r4 behind it and it handled 568/640 to the rear wheels for several yrs. I am looking at mating the 4L80E to a L76 6 liter with approx. 420-430 RWHP before a added 150 shot of juice. Hoping to keep it in the 9's in the quarter like my old set up. Anyone out there running an auto behind there LS project? Thanks Mike
  17. Well calling EPS in Louisiana today, the owner Geoff hopefully can lead me to a cam that will work with the larger valves on the L92/LS3 heads. Got to be real careful with Piston to valve clearance!
  18. I am going to be needing a set built 1.7/8" by 3 or 3.5" long tubes for my L76 6 liter with L92 heads. I may have a hook up on them as a friend of a friend builds custom exhaust/headers...fingers crossed!
  19. I run a set of 1 5/8" long tubes with 2.5" collectors on my 240Z, I did it because my 385 sbc is set up for racing with some cruising in between. I ran Sanderson block huggers and they sucked, lost power and they burnt up aluminum flange gaskets! The primaries were just too short and got too hot!
  20. I have been running a well built 700r4 transmission with a Edge racing converter 3600 9.5". It has lasted 7 yrs....LOL The CV axle broke in the center of the shaft, just snapped when I hit the 175 shot about 30 ft. out. The axles need to be taken apart and switched to get the proper length, there are write ups on it, it is very easy to do! I drive this car everywhere to the track, meets, car shows etc. It runs on 93 octane but gets poor mileage with the 750 dp on it.
  21. Did you say have custom ones built, if so that can get very pricey! That said I am looking at that possibility...yikes!
  22. I am running the R200 clutch type rear end with upgraded clutches, 300ZXT CV axles and Modern Motorsport stub axles. It has been very reliable as it has seen hundreds of passes and I have only broken one CV axle. Not bad for low 1.4X 60 ft.'s
