  1. Nice ride, good luck with here, they re such a blast to play with!
  2. I just picked up a screaming deal for my 240Z. I got a L76 very low mileage with all accessories, harness, ecm etc. for 2200 bucks and included a warranty. Does anyone know if I can run the Pontiac G8 L76 oil pan in my Z? It holds more oil than the original F body oil pan which is great. I plan on doing the DOD delete and adding LS7 lifters, cam, valve springs and push rods. It already has the LS3 heads and intake with 39 lb injectors. Also plan on adding a 4L80E transmission with a 3600 9.5" converter. Now I just need to pull my first gen 385 motor and 700r4 tranny. Myold set up would run 9.70's in the 1/4 but was a gas sucking hog when cruising around, cannot wait to go fuel injection!!! Thanks Mike
  3. Thanks, just picked up a L76 6 liter, do not think the original pan on the G8 will work...crap!
  4. 825 is cheap, try pricing some nice coated Kook's Headers!
  5. Damnit, Anyone aware of a maker of longtubes for an auto, say a 4L80E?
  6. Sweet times, my 240Z with a first gen 385 runs high 10's to low 11's. I am pulling the motor and swapping in an L76 6 liter with LS3 heads and intake, DOD Delete and a cam, size yet to be determined. Transmission will be a 4L80E with 3600-3800 9.5" converter. Hoping for mid 10's on motor and mid 9's on the spray. Your Z is damn light, mine weight 2850 with me in it!
  7. I guess you are right, they must be extremly hard on them. I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 passes on mine between street and track. I mainly run 1/8th mile and regularly see 1.4X 60 ft.'s with no breakage! Time for an auto or softer launches....LOL
  8. I can tell you that my 240 runs mid to high nines in the 1/4 mile and I have had one broken Z31 stub axle in 7 yrs. My set up is a 300 LSD with upgraded clutches, Modern Motorsports stub axles and Z31 CV axles. I am running an auto transmission with a 3600 9" converter. The motor is an old school AFR headed 385 sbc with a 175 shot on it, if I can'y hardly break it you will be just fine! Regards, Mike
  9. 140 MPH in the 240Z, fast enough for this Old Guy...LOL
  10. If you want to run a high rpm set up, I would suggest a 377, destroked 400 sbc. They are wicked and scream!
  11. You are going to laugh, it is a built 700r4 with an Edge 9.5" racing converter approx. 3800 stall, this combo has lasted almost 8 yrs in my current ride. I drive it and race it everywhere too! I am running a 2 valve relief flat top piston 5cc from JE or SRP, cannot remember now. The 210's are better suited for a 400 sbc and I too like the 195's for motor only applications, that said the 210's love the sauce! The 210 are the street with some after market work in the bowls and runners. I am running a Proform 750 DP with 73P and 80S jetting.
  12. Best 60 ft. was 1.48 on motor, rolling out and hitting the suace it's gone 1.43.
  13. It ran 10.80 at 125 with a 235/60-15 Mickey Thompson drag radials, this car is driven all over the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. It is a 93 octane pump gas friendly 385 6" rod motor. Compression is 10.83 to 1 with .053 MLS gaskets, AFR 210cc Eliminator heads w/65cc chambers, port matched Victor Jr. intake, cam is a custom grind billet hyd. roller cam 247-255 at.50, 606 lift with a 110 ls on 1.60 roller rockers. Max power is made at 6400 rpm's on a Mustang dyno. The nitrous set up is a full throttle switch combo with a button as well, this allows me to back off the bottle with out lifting the throttle. It is a NOS Big shot plate system (wet)-110 octane with a small 175 shot currently. I run 33 degree's of timing on motor and 24 on the bottle. I am currently upgrading the nos system for a progressive controller and nano nitrous system. The rear end is a 3.70 gear R200 LSD with cv axles and Modern Motorsport custom stub axles. I also did a coilover swap in the rear with 250 lb. springs.
  14. Trapping 140, damn! I have gone 9.70's at 140, you have a lot left in her, once you get the 60 ft. down your going to freak at just hot low you can go. I too am looking at an LS stroker set up for my 71 240. The old first gen motors just are not cutting it anymore. Mike
  15. I run dual 2.5" exhaust side by side out the back with no problems. I sumped the stock tank and have had no problems with it.
  16. I have a 71 240Z that with me in it weighs 2850, with a 385 sbc/700r4 with a 9" 3800 Edge converter has run a best of 10.80 at 125 on motor only. I run a 235/60-15 or a 255/60-15 Mickey Thompson drag radial. On a 175 shot plate system rolling out and hitting it around 30-40 feet out I have run a best of 9.72 at 140. The motor makes 400 to the wheels and 570 on the sauce, I drive it everywhere and is pump gas friendly 93 octane. Mike
  17. 6 point welded in cage and I have run countless passes in the 9-10 second range, no problems what so ever at all, of course I baby it too....LOL Drive her like you stole it is my motto!
  18. Too damn much....I would be embarassed to say, 13 yrs, 5 motors, 3 transmissions, countless bottle of NOS....never mind!
  19. My 240 weighs approx. 2850 with me in it. I have a new set up in my car now and it runs 11.00's on motor and 9.70's on a 180 shot. Switched cams and swapped from Canfield 195's to AFR 210 Eliminators. Next will be a LSX swap either low compression turbo or NOS, not sure yet. Mike
  20. Go to Racing junk and look at this add:Ad #2327546 240Z with a 383 for 6,500.00 and it makes the other look rather ordinary....just saying! Mike
  21. My 240Z on my old set up, 11 to 1 383, hyd. roller with out of box Canfield heads, victor jr. intake and 750 Proform carb and built 700r4 ran 10.80 at 125, on a 150 shot it ran a best of 10.10 at 133. On motor it dyno'd 388 hp / 420 tq.
  22. I live in Plano,Texas I just know he said let me have it for a week and I will do all the best upgrades. The tranny came out of an 89 Corvette I believe but it has lasted forever. What ever you do get the TV cable set right or you will burn them up in a hurry!
  23. I bought a used 700R4 from a member years ago and had a local tranny guru rebuild it for me, 600 bucks for the rebuild I believe. I have been running this same 700R4 with an Edge 9.5" 3800 stall converter for 7 yrs with nop problems. My Z runs 9's in the 1/4 and I have several hundred passes on it too, so don't shy away from aa well built 700R4!
  24. pm'd you my email address if you have any questions Mike
  25. I think standard head gaskets are .039 If I am not mistaken, crushed of course. You can go from as little as .015 to .054 I believe just so long as your quench stays above .036. I personally like to keep it .040 at a minimum. I like to play it safe! On a 383 6" rod set up if you plan on spraying it with a lot of juice, you may want to keep a 5.7 rod and not 6.0 rod, the pistons on a 6" rod are more prone to fail vs a 5.7 piston. The 5.7 piston has a lot more meat around the wrist pins.
