  1. Terry, that looks great the silver paint was just what it needed. Have you decided on a color for the body yet? Tom
  2. Terry,as usual your craftsmanship is amazing. Have you tried to fab a grill for the opening? I think the opening looks unfinished .I saw a car at a recent show with costom vents that were backed by the aluminum mesh used to keep leaves out of gutters, looked trick and easy to fab. Just a thought. Tom
  3. I saw an 87 omni for sale today it seams to be rust free and the interior is perfect. The seller is asking $1200. I'm thinking of picking it up to use as a winter car. Does any one have any experiance with these cars? I think the odometer only read 54,000 miles. Thanks, Tom
  4. Terry, That looks simular to my thoughts about the 67 camaro taillites . I think the camaro lights are 12-14 inches long, what are the dimensions of the lights you used? Thanks, Tom
  5. How about taillights from a 67 camaro ss?They are rectangular approx.4x11(I guess) crome outer edge, flat black edging around a solid red center. Non ss cars had verticle divider creating 2 rectangular panels red on the outside white to the inside. This is what I plan on using in my car.I haven't tried any mock-ups to check on the visual balance yet. Could you do this in foto shop for me? Later, Tom
  6. Jonathon if you haven't read thru the old posts on this site I would highly recomend doing so. There is an amazing amount of info here. Buying a car that is already running or close to it is a great way to get started. Watch e-bay and the local auto trader papers.Check into any local street rod or street machine clubs most of the time the members are very helpfull. And keep posting here, this is one of the best places to find help. Good Luck, Tom
  7. Thanks for the fast response,I'll try to pull the sending unit out in the next day or two as time allows. Tom
  8. I just picked up my new pickup it's a 1975 chevy with only 27,000 miles .It has a problem with the gas guage, the needle is pegged at about 50% above the full mark .It does'nt move regardless of the amount of gas in the tank. Can anyone help me with this ? Thanks Tom
  9. Zrated are you sure it was his thumb??
  10. Hi Tanner, I would add use the search engine or just start reading all the old posts. There is an amazing amount of info available. Later,Tom
  11. Another option is to buy a car that is already converted or a project that has stalled. Watch e-bay and the auto trader magazines for deals. I found my 280 project after someone here posted a heads up about a car on ebay. It was only 30 miles away so I want to check it out.The body was good and it had a freshly rebuilt 350 and 700r4 trans.I bought the car for a little over 2 grand, there are receipts for well over 3 grand in parts plus the body was in better shape than the car I was going to convert. deals are out there if you take your time and look for them, buy used parts from guys that are upgrading their rides or cleaning out their garage. Grumpy is right about car clubs they are a great way to meet people who can help you out. Later, Tom
  12. Hi Jack, Have you looked around for a running 300z motor to replace the bad one? That might be the easy (and Cheep) way to get it back on the road. Tom
  13. How can they charge you of a crime if they (the govt.) can't prove it was you driving. This is contrary to one of the basic tenents of our legal system. You are innocent until proven guilty. It is the prosecutions job to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Tom
  14. The car is looking great Dan.Thanks for documenting your progress. Does any one know where I could find wheels like those in a 16 or 17 inch rim? Later,Tom
  15. My rear arms were delivered on tuesday this week. They look to be indestructable, not pretty but the revised version should look very nice. I also have Mike's adjustable front arms and I'm very pleased with them. Later, Tom
  16. Check out boating supply shops for gas caps there are several that can be adapted for cars. Later, Tom
  17. Another option is made by POR-15,its a two part epoxy the consistancy of clay. I have used this several times and it works great. One benifit is that it's water soluble so clean up is easy. Good Luck, Tom

  19. I am running more power out to my garage. The electrical guy at work suggested I use the following wire, #8 thnn run thru 1inch conduit buryed 18 inches deep. Niether home depot or menards had it in stock.Menards recomended 8-3 nmb (with ground). Will this work ?Is there a better way to go? I will use a 50 amp double breaker at the main in the house. Thanks in advance, Tom
