  1. Check out the dash conversion unit that fits over the stock Z dash frame used in the 250GTO Z conversions. Its solid fiberglass and bolts right up. All guage positions are blank so you can configure any set up you please
  2. It's the "while i'm at its " and It's broken down to this point so I should......." that gets you. To undo work already done in 6months or 1year is your thing ,then a speedy swap is forseeable.I've been working on mine for 2 years. When finished all parts and pieces will be rebuilt, replace, refinished, repainted . I want to enjoy the build and do it only once.I can think of nothing worse than seeing it on a tow truck and out of comission after all that work and time Jim
  3. Take the opportunity to replace your heater cor while its broken down to this point. Its easy when you don't have to stand on your head. rock auto.com for the best price JIM
  4. Try rockauto.com A large selectino of brands at good prices
  5. If it doesn't work out let me know I have a 78 clock you can have free plus shipping. Its just taking up room in a junk box.....Jim
  6. Try rockauto.com I purchased a rebuilt one from there at a very reasonable price and low core money jim
  7. Try rockauto.com .I got a rebuilt booster from them. Quite reasonable (can't remember the price but core was only 30.00. They carry many Z parts at good prices. Jim
  8. I used a tko600 on my build. A bit more money, lighter and smaller than the t56, it will not break like the t5,but fits exactly like a t5.
  9. I have a pristine unmolested 78 tank with sender here in Dover N.H. if that fits your needs
  10. Y have one,removed from my 78Z last summer 25.00 plus shipping
  11. No hurry here. I'm suffering from an extreme case of "while I'm at it'a" and am so far behind in my rebuild that my heirs will be the only ones enjoying this ride.
  12. Honda door buttons---I'n up for a set when they are available. Just let me know.
  13. I have made several filler tubes over the years. I usually use exhaust pipe to make the tube, cutting and fitting any angles or straights. After the basic design and shape is completed I cover it with two layers of bicycle tube. I cut a section of bicycle tube and stretch it over the pipe and then clamp it. if you roll the tube up condum style its easier to get the tube section where you want it. Never had a leak or problem.
  14. Converting from R 180 to R200 so I need an R200 mustache bar. Also the lower mount from my R180, will that be OK for the R200 or will I have to obtain a lower mount also?
  15. I am looking to buy 1st rear deck tool box lids for my 78Z. Color is not a matter,no dents or bends.
  16. One trans the JTR book doesn't list is the TKO600 to fit GM motors. Mine works very nice
  17. I have one from my 78/280Z that worked well when I took it out last summer 40.00 shipped.
  18. The purpose is to add strength and stiffness to the frame rails not as an alternative to replacing junk rails. A sbc conversions added torque will increase the scissors effect on lighter stock rails which are not designed for the added stresses. I agree, capping weak rusted rails is is unsat to replacement. Your talking apples and oranges.
  19. Curses to the nay sayers... If your shop could make a duplicate set of the rails forward of the fire wall I would pay you for your trouble. I,ve been looking at my engine bay rails for 4 months and thinking the same thing, but with my limited fabrication ability well you know what thought did...You are my hero. please get back to me
  20. As long as it passes your Calif, smog test I don't understand the big concern about MPG. You converted to a V8 for the power, speed 'wheel spins, bragin rights, and any other number of reasons I don't think MPG was on of the build concerns. IMO
  21. I had the same problem last spring. I spent 2 days with a blow drier heating 12-24inch sections then closing the door and letting it sit for and hour or so before going to the next section . I started with what seemed to be the thickest section and used a cardboard shield on the body paint and blue painters tape on the door paint. It was a slow process but worked well ..good luck.
  22. sure could use your advice being new to the v8 scene. I beleive I have a 305 350 turbo nissan 1987 200sx with a r200 411 diff in it.Runs not to bad but with the stock 411 gearing it sucks on the highway. Toyed with a different diff and will change it if I can fin one with the 3.36 gears in it but i was also toying with a 700r but my tranny is good how about a gear overdrive unit. Buddy with a used 700r out of a 91 pickup for 500 dollars. Found one on craigs list when i suggested sending it cod and i would pay the guy says send him a draft with shipping in advance. I can't do that . The 200r guy says if i put the overdrive in then the shaft will be to short with a bad angle? what the heck do you think about all this. on a limited budget. thanks in advance

  23. Heres one for you Grumpy: 78Z engine and trans out for sbc conv. w/ Tko 600 waiting in the wings. I am at present dressing out the engine bay and am considering beefing up the frame rails with Zman of washingtons set up. Question--Ideal conditions for this job ..engine/trans out with suspension under load on ramps, no load on jack stands, wait until engine/trans installed, then load or no load.Any advise you could provide would help thanx in advance Jim
