  1. I need some help locating the tachometer wire under the hood, so I can reroute it to a MSD converter for my XDI setup. I have read a few things, but they have me second guessing its right. I have read that the TAC wire is the 1st wire on the Ignition Control box? I have also read that its off over by the coil attached to the ballast resistor; and/or its the green wire off the distributor? Can someone clarify who knows? I did download the FSM, and the electrical circuit doesnt make sense to me. Its on page three, right in the middle. Im not sure how to interpret the diagram, as the wiring for the tach goes no where? for a 76 280Z thanks guys!
  2. Lazeum, your email is full or something, cant send a private message to you... since you helped me out on the thermostat housing... Some how we misplaced all 4 of the motor mount bolts. The bolts that mount the engine to the rubber mount. I found two references to these bolts. One says M8x1.25, and the other is M10x1.50. Any clues? Thanks
  3. You sir deserve some karma your way! I used your info this morning, and it worked out perfectly at ACE Hardware!! PO didnt keep the coolant right in this car. Everything is pretty much snapping off, but the good news is that I am transferring everything over to a new engine so I wont have to worry about that in the future. I have been using ACE to replace any bolts I see as iffy, like you said they are cheap!
  4. All the bolts to the Water housing snapped when removing it. It seemed completely unavoidable. Anyone know the size/length/thread on these bolts on a L28ET?
  5. Thanks Miles. I called them along with zcarsource. Neither had them, and they wanted $215+ each. They would have to order from Japan, and would be 30-45 days. I subsequently did find a new set through ebay, but again it was out of Japan. Im sure these used ones will be good Oliver assured me. Washington is very heavy with Humidity so rubber lasts a lot longer than Arizona. =)
  6. Looking for a nice wood grain steering wheel for my 280z. Should also come with the Datsun center/horn cap. Thanks
  7. NewZed = Thanks for the link, never been to that website before, its now a keeper. Oliver hooked me up this morning with a good used pair for the rear. Both sides were torn out after further inspection this morning. Atleast its on all fours right now as a rolling chassis so we can continue to work on it inside now. (Bad weather ahead, and not so much dirty/sticky work now from grease/oil/fuel to ruin shop floors)
  8. yep both insulators the bottom dropped out... ive called a few places so far and no luck finding them... anyone know if something else can cross reference with this part? going to hit up a salvage yard it looks like...
  9. Man... I hope not, that part looks expensive to replace from doing some quick searching ($200+ per side!?!?! is it made out of gold now?) Ill check from the top and see what it looks like. Just another thing before moving onto phase 2... jeesh... Hopefully it was something that just was forgotten to be put on and it slipped through. fingers crossed...
  10. the only thing that I did not replace on the suspension struts was the rear strut mount insulators. I thought maybe it tore apart or something to cause the wheels to look so droopy right now with the added weight. I didnt think they would move much since everything is new. So it caught me by surprise when it droop'd like this. I wont stress about it, but Ill check it out a little more in the morning just to be safe.
  11. Just got the tires on today right after 5pm, for the first time in 2 months on this rebuild and ... well this doesnt look right.. yes everything is bolted up correctly and quickly verified. Is it normal to look like that? I'll investigate more in the morning. Struts and Springs are Tokico Illumina. All "rubber" gromets replaced with the "energy suspension kit". The passenger side below looks considerably worse than the driver side.
