Sorry to bring up a dead topic from so long ago, but where does one find a gear reduction starter for a 76 280Z? Are you guys just using the 280ZX starter? I think thats what I gathered, but wasnt sure, as it doesnt say year that has it. My engine turns over very slow, even when the battery checks out to be ok. I have a yellow top optima battery rated at 750CCA. The compression ratio has been raised on the engine up to 10:1 on a F54 block. I just moved my 280Z starter over to this new setup rather than get a new starter. Im assuming from the sounds of it I need to get another 'newer' starter.. ?

Do you have a "kit" price on this for us DIY'ers? I dont think anything like this is available in US.

running two different brake mods
AZGhost623 posted a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
So I did the toyota front caliper upgrade on my 280. And the Rear I did the well documented maxima caliper/rotor conversion to get rid of the drums. The shop I have it at mentioned before in the past that the rear brake pads are very small, compared in relation to the front brakes (well you dont say, like I didnt notice) The concern they have is that the car will still brake ok, but because the rears are so tiny that it may not do very much. Has anyone ever run into problems with this kind of setup? Is there anything I should be worried about running two different sizes of rotors and brake pad setups? Will I run into any problems? I do not have a proportioning valve, but I did upgrade the master cylinder to the 15/16" as well. Thanks -
Ya, same part number and everything from that photo. Exactly how it came out of the box. Looking back on my records I paid $275 for the flywheel and $300 for the stage 2 clutch kit. I was on a major budget on the amount of things I needed to get so I had to stretch everywhere I could. I looked at AZC but they were way out of my price range unfortunately. I am pretty sure if I can get this gas tank problem settled, Ill be on my way for sure. Its the only thing stopping me now. My goal is to be at the next event with this car. Yes, I need atleast a 500 mile break in. Maybe a cruise is in order up to Globe or Flag and back. I am very curious how your tooth mod is going to turn out. Not sure I understand everything being said/done, but I find it interesting none the less. More to learn...

That AZ Z Car flywheel and clutch plate looks exactly like mine... That puck is not what I went with, looks like a stage 3 or 4 puck. I wonder if he sources his parts from competition clutch, thats where I got all my parts. I had my transmission rebuilt here locally, and they used the GM Syncromesh fluid. It will be interesting to see how much difference there is in our cars since they will be similarly setup. So when I see you on the track Duragg next month, Ill know all your secrets... unfortunately you know mine too lol

Fuel in my intercooler

I dunno if the CSV is not needed per say... after sitting for 24 hours my car was very hard to start. But once started it was good all day. Found it to be a bad CSV. So if you take it out, be prepared for some hard starts in the morning... -
Email sent Mario. Will a 77 tank work in a 76? _Donovan_ - What year? Hows the condition? How much?

Has anyone bought something like this before? There are a couple "kits" out there with various mandrel pieces. I am wondering if there is enough pieces to go from the header back, or the right bends. Honestly I think a couple straight pieces, and a couple 45 degree bends could do the trick and then just weld it all together. I assume I would also need sleeves for this stuff to go into? Anyone who has gone through this, I would really like to know what pieces you all bought so I can duplicate it and put it in myself. I have the MSA 2.5" header. If there is a better way to do it, Im all ears.I suppose someone will say to take it to a shop, but finding a good shop to do it is the other challenge. I figured it would give me more experience at welding if I did it myself. http://www.mandrel-bends.com/catalog/mandrel-bends-34/409-stainless-steel-14-gauge-74/2-50-stainless-steel-409-3-75-radius-45-degree-mandrel-bend-676.html http://www.mandrel-bends.com/catalog/tube-pipe-bar-38/round-tubing-14-gauge-83/409-stainless-67/2-50-od-14-gauge-409-stainless-straight-tube-429.html http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-670146/overview/ Thanks!

My engine is from him as well. I havent turned a key yet, but plan to very shortly. Everything is almost ready to go finally.. Its a F54 block, P90A head. 89mm flat top pistons, shaved head, stock cam. I have bought a few other items from him, and he turns them around pretty quick out the door. One of the big ones was the rear disc brake conversion kit. I have called and talked to him a few times, and he seems like a good guy. No problems.

Webers using walbro 225 and aromotive regulator?
AZGhost623 replied to Med Center Z's topic in Nissan L6 Forum
I have a Carter P4070 Competition fuel pump for my triples. Its not a direct replacement for the stock fuel pump bracket, had to fab some brackets to make it fit. According to the specs, its output is 4-6 psi, with 72gph free flow. No regulator is required. You can find it at Jegs for about 80$. I did a dead head setup on my triples, no return. -
EBay Fender Mount Mirrors: ols_eucs (Philippines)
AZGhost623 replied to devgru38's topic in Body Kits & Paint
I purchased these too. I havent installed them, more other priorities on the car. They seem like they will work. I didnt want to spend $200+ for fender mirrors, and these fit the bill. They look like they will work just fine. Just take that stupid GT sticker off Took almost a month to get to Arizona... -

240zt Paint, HELP ME PICK A BLUE! POST pics of your blue Z
AZGhost623 replied to bco6's topic in Body Kits & Paint
This is what I plan to paint my Z eventually. The color is Midnight Blue Pearl on the early Z. There are 10 coats of paint with 5 base coats 3 color coats and 2 clear coats. The new 2013 370Z's are also midnight blue. -
Hmm, I did this swap back in December, and everything fit just right. My Calipers were off an 1986 Maxima, and 280ZX rotors. The caliper brackets can only really go on one way. Anyway, the hardest part for me was removing that dang dust shield off the drums. I F'd up on the removal, I should have not taken everything apart. I screwed up the spindle taking off the nut with an airgun. I was extremely lucky finding replacements. My only suggestion would be to cut the dust shield off, and dont take anything else off but the drums obviously.. Where did you get the new rear caliper brackets from? You can get some from here, might be able to find somewhere else cheaper. http://www.silverminemotors.com/Rear-Stage-4-Kit-Brackets-Rear-Stage-4-Kit-Brackets.htm http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=&products_id=8 Oh and check this link, might be handy. http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/104113-silver-mine-motors-rear-disk-conversion-kit-write-up/ I have some pictures of my build, but not sure if they will help any....

I picked up mine from ZCarSource.com, there complete kit (Product #: 32400101). Oddly enough it came with a packing sheet from Precision... Maybe its old stock they have if Precision is no longer in business?

Wheel Show! Post your pics of you wheels
AZGhost623 replied to k3werra's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
My tires are a little different than what everyone else runs on these wheels it seems. Everyone seems to go with 225's, and I went with 205's. Oh well, next time. This was a complete out the door package for $800 at a tireshop here in town during 2012 thanksgiving week. Couldnt pass it up. They stick out just a tad which I think is just enough. No engine in bay yet to add weight in these pictures. Also have the tokico illumina's spring/strut kit, which dropped the car about 2 inches as well. I called Chester and Herods which I found in a different interior search. After talking to him, I found out he makes the carpet kit for ZCarSource, and MSA as well as a few others he mentioned that I had not heard of before. His prices seemed reasonable and had very affordable shipping considering all the weight it would be. However, I really like the look/fit of the carpet from Datsun Spirit. A few people seem to have had good luck with it as well. I am thinking about going down that road...

I did do a search, specifically for the "zcarsource carpet kit". Nothing popped up. I also rolled through the post pictures of your interiors too, which no one mentioned about the zcarsource carpet kit either. Since Im interested in this carpet kit and no searches popped up, I figured it was OK to post a question.

Has anyone tried out the zcarsource complete carpet/vinyl replacement kit? I know its a bit on the pricey side, but comes with everything including re-upholstery for the seats (Im looking at Product #: 28415320 specifically) I see a lot of people have gone with the MSA carpet kit which is considerably less. How do you guys like it? Any other place I should be looking for a replacement carpet kit or to stay away from? Looking to purchase something before end of month. Thanks

sweet, that worked... thanks!!

hmm those links you gave dont work. But I know exactly the wire your talking about! So the blue wire off the ballast goes to the ECU/IM stuff, but it doesnt go directly to the Tach? So If im going to wire it in, the output side of the tach adapter goes to the blue wire, and then Ill need to wire it up to the tach from the Ignition module area? (i know of the blue wire over there as well if thats it) The EFI harness and ECU are pulled completely out. The ignition module is also gone since this is a triple carb setup now. Thanks for the wire locating! Here is my engine bay pix so far...lots more wiring to do.
