  1. Mas280, nice pic. Did you take off your front sway bar connections? I know some do it that have traction problems and it helps. I dont have any traction problems at the track. It may be different after the stroker upgrade but ZFAN isnt having any traction probs either....just have to wait and see I guess....

Hot Rice dont know where all that camefrom but welcome to the board never the less. 1 post turns into two etc....before long youll be a vetern of Hybridz....lets us know if you need anything that we can help with....now get out there and whip some butt...

  2. Guys, the 2.04s 60 foots were coming after I changed to the Single plane. I put the dual plane back on and I was cutting 1.85/6s 60 footers. My best 1/8th was 7.99 but more 8.04/5s or so at 87 to 88 MPH. I bet the richness and plugs have something to do with it. Damn I wish I had a dyno in the town....boooooo. Im off tomorrow so Im changing the plugs and down jetting some....Man this is turning out to be a long post... :D:D Thanks for everyones help.. If you look at my pic below you can see it launches well and the the front wants to rise. I dont have a bog off the line just kinda slow then all hell breaks lose sorta thing....Most people here would die to run 12s and Im complaining...I GOT THE FEVER...beam me up scottie GNZ! :D

  3. Actually when I weighed my car It was 2540, but that was with the iron heads, metal radiator, water pump, stock tank and lines etc, and stock rims and tires. I also had HEAVY 40 pound recaro seats which I have traded out for 20 pounders. All the rest has been replaced with aluminum. So its just an estimate but it surely doesnt weigh much more than 2400 or so...

    Head weight saving 60 lbs

    Radiator 10 lbs

    Fuel cell etc 15 lbs

    Seats 40 lbs

    Water pump 10 lbs

    Rims 25 lbs

    Interior took out 5 pounds

    Aircon unit inside 55lbs

    Total 215 lbs

    2540-215 = 2320 est...

I havent figured the difference from the rear disk swap or front disk swap and roll cage....

Cage is maybe 35lbs plus the difference with the brake upgrade and CVs..

    2400 plus change?

  4. Yes I manually shift....both of my tires get traction off the line without problems. I often fish tail if I hit it in second changing lanes so no problem there. My intake is a match ported AFR dual plane so I think that is OK. I really suspect the tranny because it is starting to slip alot ans smell like a burning clutch... One thing at a time I guess. I will now need to get that Rature 700R4 stage three put in before long...boo :(

  5. Mike, I was just curious. Im trying to figure out why my times seem a little low. I do still have that tranny that seems to wanna glide into gear instead of shifting hard. You can here on the clip I posted earlier. I guess I may be losing a couple of tenths from the tranny not shifting hard. I remember you had the same problem before. Was there any differences time wise after you fixed the tranny? Im just trouble shooting...man i cant wait to get this tranny changed out....BTW Im about 190 or so myself.... :D

  6. Kevin, thanks for the info. Well Ill keep my 411s but I may go to the Nitto 275 60 15s vice the 50s. Question is will they fit? I have and inch and a half clearance now with the inner fender still there. I can cut it out as well to make more room if needed. This tire is 27.99. That would yield me a 121 MPH potential I believe. I currently dont have the power to exceed that so it would give me alot of growing room and great launches would it not? The stroker will go in later this year probably when it gets a little cooler however.....

  7. My cam is from 2200-5800 RPMS Peak ocurring at 6100 and torque at 4500. My rear is currently 354 but have 411s coming. My tranny is a 700R4. My stall is 2800 but only can go to about 1900 before the tires slip. My dual is rated to 6000 RPM however. Even with the 411s I wont exceed 6000 in third. I now run the traps at about 5200 or so at 111. My tires are right at 26 inches. Nitto 275 50 15s. I shift at 6000 RPMS.

  8. Well not good. I had the same MPH about as with the DUAL PLANE but lost 3/10ths due to the dog off the line comparitively. My average MPH gain from the 1/8th to the 1/4 was about 25MPH gain with the single plane vs 23 MPH gain with the dual plane. However, the loss of power from the line ate that right up. I was running 2.04s and 2.07s off the line....unsat! I do have the 3.54 rear still in though. Surely the 411s will make a difference. Im thinking about putting the dual plane back in. 12.4s are much more acceptable once you have already been there. The wierd thing is I never lost one single race. I beat uo an old school camaro 68 or 69 that was a little built. A bug with wheelie bars and pretty damn fast and several mustangs. I have the clips if someone wants to see them...

I guess the 383 makes better use of the Victor Jr. At least in my case it was not a good swap. 411s may be a different story. I will know next month as I have a 411 R200 coming.....Comments anyone???

  9. ZFAN, Ill be running again Friday to test the Victor Jr. I suspect a loss off the line with my 354 rear. However the good news is I bought a 411 rear R200 and will have it in for next month. I should be able to break 11s with good traction I hope. The final deal will be the 383 kit. So how is the tire thing coming Mike...I want to hear about those tens!!! :D

  10. I see another potential problem of which I experienced as well. First your fuel pressure is set too high in my opinion. Holleys like between 3 and 7 PSI but mine would over flow the bowls and cause the engine to run like crap then die. Afterwards it would take alot of time to get it started again. I run a 750DP and it likes about 5.5 to no more than 6 PSI. Back your pressure down....that could also be making your plugs wet. After backing your pressure down to 6 PSI, make sure to reset your idle mixture screws in front. Also, I would think that a good starting jetting for that 383 would be 72s or so in front....Ive been there in your situation...try it and see.....

  11. Maybe ZFAN is out there. I installed my Victor Jr. today and noticed two things...(1) I cant screw my datsun sending unit back in without cutting down the ridge on the back of the intake with a dremel. There is no room for an extension as the sending unit will hit the Distributor. I guess I need to trim the little ridge down to fit. Secondly, there is no vaccuum port for the brakes so I suppose I have to put the brake hose directly to rear of carb???? Then plug or filter the other valve cover? I see no other way less putting a T connector from the carb....anyone care to chime in. It looks good by the way.

  12. Kevin, thanks for the info! Well I already have the engine together minus the 400 crank and assembly. I have the 350 crank in there now with full Hydraulic roller retro fit. I am adding the balanced 383 stroker kit in a couple of months using my AFR 190s, Victor Jr. Single Plane, 1 5/8 block huggers and Proform 750 DP, with the XR282HR cam.

Thanks again...Im excited about the build and looks like it will yield great DCR and SCR... :D

11s are definately coming soon to a raceway near me... I hate those damn Camaro SS cars. They talk so much trash. Theres one that runs a 11.7 here but I have something in store for those guys.... :-D

    Terry

  13. ZFAN, my current setup yields 7.74 DCR with a .045 quench. Thats with 5cc flat tops. When I go to the 383 it yields 8.38 with the 5cc flat tops and 8.14 with 7cc. Do you know the cc size of those probes? Just curious....

My deck hieght is .005 since I had it decked.
