Hi Wick, Wow. That looks very bad ... glad that you were not in the Z when this happened. I hope that you are doing alright. I am almost certain that the insurance company is going to total it. I recently got into an accident that would cost about $3,600 to fix and the value of the car was around $5,000. The insurance company decided to total it. I bought it back for $800 and fix it myself for around $200 (ugly but drivable). Remember, you can always bargain with the insurance company for just about anything. Let us know how this turns out. I am looking replace the door moulding for the Z, and I was in shock when I saw the price at MSA. This item costs $72 dollars. The moulding is the stainless steel trim with rubber on it and sits against the window glass. The part number from Nissan is 80821-N4401. I really do not want to spend mucho $$$ for two lousy mouldings. Anyhow, if you know of a place that sell it at a lower price, please let me know. Thanks, Huy

Also check out that Hugger Orange color (Paint Code 72) that came in the late 60's Camaro and Corvette. That's the color that I'm going to paint my car with. If you want to go with a lighter shade of orange, check out the 2004 Audi TT Papaya Orange and the Lotus Elise's Orange. Huy

That Grabber Orange is very interesting. A bit too close to yellow but a lot calmer than hugger orange. I'm really confused now.

I'm going to send the Z to the paint shop soon, and the color will be orange. I know that paint code 918 is "Mexican orange" but I'd like to go with something a little brighter. Please post if you guys have any suggestion. Thanks, Huy

Hi all, I would like to get your inputs on this: I'm going to paint the car Orange/Reddish and want to keep the off-white interior color!!! How does this look? I really like the dark red/burgandy interior that comes with white 240Zs but I think this will make the Z looks like a pimp-mobile. I don't like blue or black interior at all. Maybe light brown? Man, I'm so confused. Please help, Huy

What's up Owen, how are you my man? What kind of wheels do you have? Steel? Aluminum? This is what I did for my aluminum wheels: 1/Tape the lip of each wheel with heavy duty duct tape. 2/Take them to a media blasting place to have them blast all of the junks in the center and the back of the wheels. 3/Clean them up again with a steel pad and some laquer thinner. 4/Use Eagle1 aluminum wheel Etching solution (from Pep Boys) 5/Polish the lips of the wheels. 6/Tape the polished area and paint the wheels with Duplicolor Wheel paint (from AutoZone). 7/Put a layer or two of Duplicolor Wheel paint Clear coat (also from AutoZone). I've been thinking about getting these for the longest time. Great wheels overall for the price. Have you check out MSA? I think they want a little more but if you mention you're from Zcar.com they will give you a 10% discount which will get the price down close to $480 and you get the Z center caps and lug-nuts with the package. Hi all, I've my Riken wheels blasted down to bare metal (just the center face), and now I'm getting ready to put down a layer of paint. Should I use some kind of a primer before I paint them? I thinking about going without the primer because I've already cleaned them with Eagle One Etching Wheel Cleaner. Please advice. Thanks for your help, Huy

BTW don't get any on your hands...Don't ask me how I know!!! Oh man!!! don't remind me about it... So far, the only way to remove it right away is to sand that part of your body down with 80 grit sand paper ... light sanding only, you don't want to see any flesh ... It worked... I tried it Huy

Thanks RacerX ... WOW that's a lot of information in one post. I just downloaded the whole thing for reference at a later time. Huy BTW, have you ever thought about writing a book on this subject? Your writing style is very direct, and very easy to understand- which I can not say the same for many technical books out there.

Strotter and RacerX, your expert advices are always appreciated. I sand-blasted the fenders, cowl, head light buckets, and several others parts of the Z to bare metal. On the inside of these parts, I coated them with POR-15. On the outside, I cleaned them throughly with laquer thinner. I'll let the body shop do all of the body work on the car, but I do not want these panels to start rusting away while I'm shopping around another paint shop. Anyway, I'm going to paint them (on the outside) with several coat of primers and let them sit for the next several weeks. Well, as you guys probably already know, my knowlege on painting a car is extremely limited. ... but I'm learning along the way. RacerX, what kind of reducer do you recommend? And how much reducer to I need to mix with the catalyzed DPLF? Thanks so much for your help, Huy

I just bought a quart of PPG DP50LF epoxy primer, and the guy at the paint store told me that I also need to get some kind of an epoxy primer catalyst like DP402LF. He said that I need to mix these at a 2:1 ratio (Two part primer : one part catalyst) prior to pouring them in to the spray gun. Anyway, I’d like to hear your experience on this.
