  1. what about an e-cutout? only when you want to run hard, you can open the valve.
  2. garage kept for 20 years? must be pristine... keep it stock and authentic... if u want to hack one up, there are plenty out there.
  3. really nice car.. what are the specs on the motor and tranny?
  4. Nice project. How much the stock 260z tranny hold? Is it that under-rated? Maybe dumb question. I'm looking at the same swap for my 280z.
  5. Why does the word "DATSUN" need an exclamation mark? Isn't it implied!
  6. Looks good. When you get to that state, do you just putty over it? Or weld buildup any low spots?
  7. Spot weld cutter from harbor freight... I bought one a couple weeks, and it is awesome and cheap ($5) http://www.harborfreight.com/3-8-eighth-inch-double-sided-rotary-spot-weld-cutter-95343.html... I center-punch each spot weld, then went to town with the cutter.
  8. Thanks for the advice. I'll have to look at this spot more closely.
  9. Hi all, Before I go down a wrong path that may take long to recover from, I'd like to ask for tips. I had post earlier (http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/111624-rear-quarter-panel-replacement-help/), but I realized that the other sub-forum may have been the wrong one. You can see the location of interest, and the replacement panel in the referenced link. I have separated the outer and inner panels from the replacement panel. So, how much to cut out of the rusted area? Obviously, I should out all rust, but should I cut more beyond that? Do I try to make straight cuts? Any benefit to cutting contoured cuts? Anything to look out for, specific to this area? Thanks in advance!
  10. Looks good. Just curious, how does the piece you are cleco'ing to look? How did you primer it? I'm doing some homework on how to tackle my project. Thanks.
  11. my concern with just buying a replacement panel is, from what I can tell in the catalog... the inner piece doesn't come with it. do i even need the inner piece of metal?
  12. 1st post here. 1977 280z. The PO gave me a cut-off of a rear lower quater panel with the sale. I'm thinking of tackling this project and want some advise, since I have not attempted a project of this nature. Here are the pics of the replacement and rust spot. My questions... on the replacement section..is it best to separate the inner piece and weld it in, then do the exterior? What technique should i used to trace out the cut (cutting out the rusted piece to match my replacement). Lastly, is it even worth it? or shoudl I buy the replacement panels form black dragon or something? thanks in adance.
