  1. Really great work! The patch that you made for the battery area, was that shaped with just a hammer/dolly?
  2. where there is a will, there is a way. just to it. worst that can happen is that you invested a little too much for the education you gained.
  3. love the classic white and dark wheels combo... those 15's or 16's? and what drop are you at?
  4. I really like the idea of redoing the steering wheel. Aren't you concern the MDF will absorb moisture over time and crack/swell?
  5. that's good to know. you need to primer first?
  6. curious, you are tack welding, and sealing the seam? what sealer are you using? thanks.
  7. Nice work! How much did the tranny swap set you back?
  8. Is there a kit of some sort to add an external wastegate to the l28et manifold?
  9. I'm interested as well. Some say you can use the bumper dampers for attachment. Along the lines of having an adapter fabed up to bolt onto the existing damper.
  10. Thanks Dingo... I think I'll follow your path. It just didnt seem straight forward as a one-piece patch.
  11. Hey Dingo, great work! Did you remake the upper (top) piece? The part that the fender bolts to? If so, how did you make the shape? Thx.
  12. Anyone got one for sale? Ebay's a rape $$$. Shoot me a PM. Thanks.
  13. Hi all... I just received a radiator off of ebay, and it has 1.250" diameter inlet/outlet (though was noted as having 1.4" in ebay ad, I should complain). What are the issues I may face with this? Are the smaller sized holes limiting it's performance notably? Can I use the oem hoses and tighten up on the hose clamps? I recall someone else having this issue, but I can't find that thread. IIRC, he replace the inlet/outlet with 1.5" ports. Any advice is appreciated.
  14. Evening gents... I thought I would have a greater response on the z31performance site (http://z31performance.com/showthread.php?25303-Chipping-86-ecu-to-convert-to-turbo&p=375142#post375142), but it turn out not so. Anyway, I have an 86 ecu out of a z31 n/a auto. I was hoping to re-chip and reprogram it for turbo. I wanted to go down path Afshin's documented (http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/26230-z31300zx-ecumaf-to-280zxt-swap-guide/). Could/would anyone suggest a write-up for this conversion? So far, from what I gather through various sources... I can chip the ecu in this manner... 1) remove prom chips IC4 (28-pin) and IC5 (24-pin). 2) jump J3 to J4. any other mods? 3) burn an at29c256 chip with the turbo map (burn the map onto the last portion of the 32K or double the BIN). 4) drop it into the IC4 location. Are there any corrections/suggestions to my plan? I have a moates chip burner, and a couple at29c256 chips in hand. Again, my goal is to use this ecu with a l28et. TIA.
  15. Thanks for the reply, z240. I see the four tabs. I'll give it a shot. I was hoping there was some magic trip to pop them out.
  16. Hey guys, Before I get too fustrated and break something, I figure I better ask. I did a quick search, but didn't find my answer, though the question was posed. Under the dash (passenger side) where the engine harness comes into the cabin, there is a white bracket supports several harness connectors. What is the trick to removing the connectors? I've attached a couple pictures for reference. I pried with a couple spots with a flat screwdriver, but it doesn't want to move. Any help is appreciated.
  17. My guess, fuel pump relay. A coworker tear his whole dash apart chasing it, replace ecu, etc... just find it was the relay.
  18. Too much juice? Too slow of feed? Dirty/old tip? Or maybe not enough pressure on the wire?
  19. If it is relevant. I picked up a motor from an 81 for 150$+30$ core at the u-pull it. But didn't take the ECU or anything else, since I am planning on running MS.
  20. Really good looking project... Keep up the good work.
  21. im with you... hearing the turbo spool up and the bump in the seat when you hit full boost, definitely nice... i prefer the spooling & bov sound over the rumblings of a v8. it's not just about hp.
  22. got pics to share of this $400 garage find? if you go with just the turbo bits, you can always convert it back.
