Fox bodies are easy to make light too. I think they look nice, the front ends suck for aero but thats Ford for you. I saw a carburated one here go for $850, you should find one in great shape for well under 5k no doubt. I believe one of thier main issues is axle strength but that may only be in road racing applications.

Damn, for $500 I'd be there. They seem hard to find in my area, I've tried looking and only see a couple now and again.

There is one user here at least, and Moby is about to be #2 (if not more that I dont know of). I very likely will be joining the ranks pretty soon, some of the parts are on backorder till sometime in June last I heard though. I will probably be getting my stuff in 3-4 weeks.
-
Probably more money though I'm sure. Casting a full size V12 engine block, probably some moola that he didn't have.
-
Randy, there is already a setup that programs its own VE tables - Megasquirt AVR, the standard one though is good nuf for me.

Solid cam will make a bit more bottom end power, and a bit more top end, most of thier advantage is revability without lifter pump up and low end power with even a somewhat largish cam. As said if they need replacement prepare to pay big time, and probably spend awhile trying to find them. I too have heard of P90a without hyd lifters, it must have either been a transition item or maybe just converted down the road by people who owned them.

There is a guy on Corner-Carvers.com on his 5th DOHC 4.6L engine. I lost one at STARTUP in 1998, never heard back from Ford as to why, it was a 97 Cobra.

Ok, your looking at anything from approximately 214 on the intake to 230ish, if on a 112 LSA. Cam MFG will give an approximation of running range, with the high number being quoted for peak HP, not shift point.

I would ask on a Camaro/Firebird board. I believe its a front to rear differential (low trac) but I dont know which wheels or exactly how it works. G'luck

I dont want a motor that revs to 10k
I want something that doesnt start to fade after about 5500 rpm.
Then your looking for love in all the wrong places
You need to cam it' date=' and get some headers/intake work that will let it breath. If you put a torquey cam in there then dont expect your RV to pull to 7k RPM and like it, power will fall off with a small cam at high RPM thats just how it goes. High RPM V8s will go lump-lump at idle if you know what I mean. I ran a 234/246-110 and it ran great to 7k, and with 3.42s (T56) still had enough balls down low to daily drive without slipping the clutch like nuts. Would have had even more impressive timing work if I had access to 92 or better octane, down low had to be a little conservative with 91 MTBE.
[/supraexcuse']
Where do you want peak RPM to be? That will be one thing deciding what cam to go with, and if headwork should be done or not, yada yada.

Stock LT1's and LT4's rev quite freely to 6300 RPM. Just need to open up the breathing, maybe some roller rockers.
Yep, the LT1 wont breath much at high RPM and it doesn't have the cam for it, past 6200/6300 roller rockers are a "must" and thats why the LT4 got em. I ran mine to 7k with no problems.
-
Would be neat, but for the expense, argh. I'm not a historian, I just want to race

Corner-Carvers is BAN happy, they love to do it. They really tick alot of people off. If you dont search before you post, if its a tuesday your banned, any other day, its up in the air.

You'd have to get rid of the turbo cam, and any power gain IMO without porting it and rebuilding the whole thing will be minuscule if any.

Oh yes, those were the days I could tell my browser not to auto load pictures and pages were pretty snappy on my modem. How do you know what each pic was? Easy, the descriptor, now so many websites expect gui stuff that they rarely follow W3C rules, but with a cable modem I load pix anyway

Ignorant people, are like stupid or something.

Thats a supprise. I was a Netscape supporter and user back when, I stopped after 4.06 and switched to IE which always loads very quickly for me. When I tried Mozilla early on, it sucked, second release was supposed to fix alot of bugs though.

I got hit on the inside of my car and on the outside as I took off (after the first shot). This was on the freeway about a year ago, when I brake checked a mini van that was diving in and out of traffic.
What I wonder is, did he mean to shoot me in the face, or simply block my vision? If he meant to shoot me in the face, that could have seriously killed me. Not likely from the impact of the painball (alot of guys juice them up though), but from crashing after passing out or just plain crashing @ 70 MPH, in relatively heavy traffic I might add. Seriously that even just left me discusted. The guy is a complete moron or a complete ass____, I was probably not far from tapping the guy sideways on the freeway. My own belief is that if you dont value someone elses life and your willing to risk it, then you should be removed. Obviously it would have been legal hell for me though.

Like a street legal 70s Lola with a SBC
Sweet, now that would be a bitchin street-mobile. I used to really like the old Sterling VW kits, a guy down the street from my folks had one years ago.

consumptionjunction is hilarious, definately not work safe, about 60% of it isn't anyway.

Oi that bboard is awful: everyone has a huge sig with an overly detailed write up of their car with giant photos. Tacky.
I know the feeling, you can fit 1 or 2 posts on a page before you have to scroll half the time. CamaroZ28.com doesn't allow ANY pics in posts period, other than smilies. Still though people list every friggin mod, down to what spark plugs, tires and oil they have sometimes. The standard accepted sig seems to be 3 lines or no more than 5.

383 will have NO problems with 7k RPM if you build it for it. If you are building for 10k RPM then your going to need a nasty cam which will leave you with no bottom end power to speak of. The big question is WHY would you do that? If you are limited by cubes for your race class then do it, otherwise 7,000-8,500 RPM is not even an issue with a 383 if you build for it. The SCAT cast 3.75" cranks are rated for 7k RPM.
I've seen a 377 dyno vs a 383, the 377 makes a tad more top end power and a tad less bottom end (less than 10 HP) with the same heads/cam/intake. Not enough difference to speak of IMO.

Yes, most of us try to reduce shifts, we dont run gears like drag guys do. Most of us drivin the American cars try to say out of 5th, some dont care and run 4:10s with thier T56s and run in 5th, so nobody agrees 100%. Since we have 6 speeds though, we dont have the crazy OD in 5th like the Fords do.
