  1. The injectors have been confirmed to be the 370cc they claim to be. They are working fine with my ecu which was programed to run 370cc's I have seen no ill effects so far. I'm still waiting to really crank the boost though...
  2. I've got some .02 cents worth to add here as well. I agree with getting the enjoyment out of the car.. if it is building fine, if it is showing it, fine, but if its driving it, well then drive the dang thing!! I'm a driver with my car I used to drive the thing all the way to the first snow on the ground with an aggressive sounding set of webers on it, with no manual choke..I had to let it warm up a bit before I could pull out of the driveway with it..and ya know what?.. IT was GREAT! I did fall into the trap eventually and built the car to a point where I didn't want to drive it just anywhere, my wife would not go out in it, and I was afraid of a punk stealing it for a joy ride and trashing it...It got loud, noisy, hard ride, no radio, etc... It has taken me 3 years to bring it back from its "wannabe racer" ways and make the car car fun to drive, reliable, quiet, smooth, "not so smelly" hehehe. I still have a small problem of being afraid of it being stolen or trashed in some parking lot, but I'm getting slowly better. I will install one of those GPS type security systems with a small monthly monitoring fee. I hope that will calm me down further. I'm a whole lot happier with it now.
  3. Hey all. I've been pretty busy with work lately and I have been having trouble finding time to surf here. The Z is still alive. The Merkur injector swap into my VG30ET is complete. The reprogrammed ecu is in, and the car fired up on the first turn of the key. I found some electrical gremlins and a minor vac leak while doing the inj swap... it is running even better now. I have the boost set the same, while I ensure the air fuel ratios are ok...The boost will get cranked though..don't worry about that! The fuel pump is rewired finally, nice 10 guage wire, direct to the battery, with a slick relay. I have started to fit the rear belly pan to the car. It is getting modded a bit, and it will now hide the gas tank. It will be a few more days before I can finish it up. I looks mean when it is just put into place! I'll have plenty of under car pics. It sure will be fun to test the belly pan out eh? Don't worry.. I remember.. 7-9 degrees.. hehehe. Custom work is a joy isn't it? hehe Oh.. and the 240 just sits waiting for its turn..
  4. sounds too good to me.. I went to the local ford dealer and bought 6 new injectors.. 135.00 each. ouch..

    V10?

I recall a few years back, that some guy had a wrecked GTS that he was going to swap the driveline into an S30. I've heard nothing since...

    87 bolt in diff?

All R200 diffs in 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation Z cars will all swap around just fine with a a few exceptions... LSD R200's (with a finned cover) will not fit unless you change the rear cover, or modify the rear brace. LSD's from an 88 SE (white 300zx) use different side output shafts that are not compatible with the UV style halfshafts used in first gens. Some R200's have different input flanges. some are round, some are more square, and I think some are a larger diameter round flange.. (mostly differences from 1st and 3rd gens.) Most R200 in first gens are 3.54. Most R200 in later 280zx's are 3.9, Most R200's in 300zx's are 3.7. There are several exceptions to the gear ratios mentioned above. The difference being from turbo to non turbo's, and 2+2's... There are too many subtle differences by year/ model for me to repeat here.. Sorry if it is a bit patchy... You have to be somewhat careful which diff you choose, but 90% of the R200's are easily swappable.

    rear wheels

Its normal. Mine is the same. It becomes more apparant when you run larger wheels and the front gap gets real tight..making the difference between the front and rear gaps more noticeable.
  8. Ok so I finally get some answers. This problem has been resolved, and went all the way to the purchasing management and right to the manufacturer of the injector (BOSCH) These injectors ARE the correct inj. Bosch has taken over production of these injectors, hence the new part # on the injector. For some reason this was not caught, and the computer system and all new parts manuals do NOT reflect this change. I have been assured by Ford Purchasing management that these injectors are the correct injectors. They mentioned that if I still thought they were incorrect, or If I have any problems with them AFTER install, they will refund the cost of the injectors. Now for saftey reasons (safety of my wallet) I will be having one of the injectors flow rated to be positive....I just need the fuel pressure rating that it should be tested with... WHEW... Now to get this part done and get this ordeal over with and get them in the damn car!
  9. I have the same I/C. I may have some pics in my album that show the install.. http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4290955091 Or you can go here where I have more pics of the engine.. Works well for me so far. I ran 18psi with a t3 through it, and now I run a hybrid t3/t4 no probs so far... Scott.
  10. Update folks. THEY ARE THE WRONG INJECTORS. I was at the Ford dealer yesturday for an hour, and I returned my non-returnable parts. The #'s were right on the order..the inj in the box were not. I stirred it up enough, Ford is doing a recall on that model of injector (warehouse inventories) It seems Ford has discontinued some models of vehicles injectors even though they have the same part # as other models. They have replaced them with a different part #. ie Merkur xr4ti, thunderbird, svo, etc... After all is said and done, the Ford part # cm4736 will get you the wrong inj. even though it shows you should get the brown cap inj. They are now getting me the correct inj. Thanks a bunch guys for catching that! Whew!

  12. Just saw the post..I'll have to look again.. I got them from the Ford dealer..Better be right..
  13. Well I'm coming at this from a totally different perspective I suppose, but here goes... Scottie.. YOUR NUTS if you sell the Z. Sound harsh? maybe... Let me tell you.... You have had this car for how many years? More than my measly 15 years with mine... You have successfully done exactly what I did to mine about 5-6 years ago.. (not the wicked speed part..I can't compete with that.) You had fun when racing the car, but it sounds like to me, you have taken the rest of the fun out of the car. I'll bet I'm right. I had so much fun modding my Z and racing it on a road course. That I took all the daily driver characteristics out of it to a point where I didn't want to take my wife out on the town or some important function... and she didn't want to go in it either (and she loved driving it around the track as well) It became to uncomfortable for long trips.. It didn't look all that nice when looked at close.. not everthing worked right, or fit properly... I had turned it way to racey..too sensitive..to finicky..(dare I drive it in the rain and slide off the road and die in it) Times change... Change the car to change WITH you... I may still not like getting my car wet, but some rain will not stop me from driving it... I have made it much more comfortable to cruise in as well... Heck my CD player almost never skips! Speed bumps don't scare me very much... I've taken as many "quirks" as I can out of it so it can be a more normal car... I enjoy driving the car more now than I did 6 years ago... If you sell it mark my works folks... you WILL regret it. PERIOD. Sorry to be harsh on ya Scottie.... I had to do it for ya... Good luck in what ever you choose. Scott.
  14. Well hows this for help! 84-86 300zxt's ALL had 3.54 R200 non lsd diff (2+2's as well) 87+ 300zxt's all had 3.7 LSD R200's. Even the 2+2's 87+ NON turbos had 3.7 NON lsd R200's. 84-87 300zxt's all had 200hp and 230 ftlb of torque. 88-89 30zxt's all had 205hp and a bit more torque (can't remember that #) 84 300zxt's had a T3 that was only oil cooled. All other years were water and oil cooled. 88-89's ran the smaller t25, and had more compression. 8.3 as compared to 7.8. Personally I'd go for an 87 300zxt engine. The 86's have TWO different engines in the same year.. 86.5 and newer are the same as 87's... 86.49 and older are the same as the 84-85's. Follow? Don't forget you need more than the motor! ie front crossbar... the engine mounts different because of the turbo location.

Yea i recall that safety article.. I recall seeing a huge fork lift, lifting a man lift, and it was stretched out with a guy working 50ft ++ in the air on a building. Good one Aux. You got me again! You must be a movieholic like me!
  17. Well I guess I'll help ya out... First. Junk the 300zx sliders. Second. Remove the 240 sliders from your stock seats. Third. mount the 240 rails in the car. (for measurement purposes) Fourth. Get some thick cardboard and tape it to the bottom of the 300zx seats. Fifth. Now sit the seat in the car and determine the best location of the seat, and draw and outline of the seat rails on the cardboard that is taped on the bottom of the seats. (follow so far?) Now you have a template of the seat rail position in the car. get some nice 1/8 thick flat bar steel and take it to a shop with a welder and ask the guy to weld the flat bar to the seat where it will line up to the mounts on the seat rails. Drill the new flat bar welded to the seat with holes that line up with the stock seat rails, and bolt or weld the seat to the seat rails. Kinda hard to describe, as Its been a while since I've done it, but hopefully you get the idea. Some of the race seats I have seen have a flate plate on the bottom of the seat. This allows for mounting anywhere... just line up with your seat mounts, and weld a way. Hope it helps ya.

{"Why are you calling me "Jesus" (hey Sus)? Do I look Puert Rican?...The man called me Zeus. Zeus! you know. Don't F*** with me or I'll shove a lightening bolt up your A**!! ZEUS!!"} Just made me think of that line! hehe Can you name this movie clip? Scott.
  19. Mike You have gone Z mad! Woohoo! Cool! Just becareful You sound like you are nearing critical mass, and if you do, you will never finish any of the projects. Finish em up before you get too deep...something will ALWAYS come up to interfere when you are juggling lots of projects... ie women, jobs (or lack therof) Good luck though! I like your enthusiasim.
  20. Well I suppose I'll chime in. I have bought stuff from them for many years now. (I order something once a year, or more if I'm in a project) I only had one mistake.. they sent me front flares instead of rear flares. Everything else..even big boxes came with no probs...now shipping and import duties is a whole other bees nest... so much for free trade! I bought TWO mirrors TWO!!!! they were 19.99 each. After the shipping charges, and taxes (all in USD) Then converting it to Canadian funds..when the dollar was like 55 cents. THEN import duties, those two mirrors cost me.... $130.00!!!!
  21. Heck Ya! You don't have to ask me twice. I'm damn proud of my Z. (Can you tell I'm happy that I just got my car out of 6months of winter jail?) 8) Seems fitting to bring it out here to!
  22. Hey folks. My new injectors arrived today. One thing is I'm not 100% sure they are the correct ones? I used the Ford part number for the brown cap 370cc (35lb) injectors from an 85 Mustang SVO (turbo 2.3l) I have no injectors laying around to compare it to, and its been a couple of years since I had a close look at my injectors. What do ya think? of this pic? did I get the right ones?.. I'm just trying to get it all sorted out before I tear into the car. Thanks, Scott
  23. Catchy title eh? Just felt like updating my little corner of the Z universe. First. Both of my Z cars are out of storage. The 280 started after the first turn of the key after sitting for 6 months. It is running very strong. After cleaning out the cobwebs etc. I took it for a work out and jumped on a very long reducing radius 300+ degree down hill right hand sweeper, then up over a long hill curving to the right, down the hill curving slightly to left, then into a gentle right swoop under a bridge and down a long straight onto the highway. I think it could be one of the ultimate z car ramps in Ontario. Coming down the second hill, I can easily hit 130mph. Well i jumped on to my usual on ramp, with a sport bike on my tail through the entire run. He gave me a thumbs up when we merged onto the highway. We had slowed down to sane speeds by now. What a rush! 8) Now on to project death in a Fast Z!. My new fuel injectors have arrived and will be picked up tommorow morning. God I hope they fit my VG. 85 SVO 370cc injectors. (brown cap) My new ecu has been sittting in a box for the last few months ready for the larger injectors. The 240 is sitting waiting for the injector and ecu swap. I just made a deal on two welders. one a nice mig (with argon mix) and a nice arc welder. I sptent today gathering all my raw materials to start to complete the 240 as well. Lots of parts and materials sitting around this week!
  24. Well I only have a couple of high speed runs under my belt since I had that pan installed. I've seen the high side of 140mph with the car feeling solid. Heck I even did something very stupid and gave the dude I was racing a thumbs up out the window at 135mph. I didn't feel like I needed both hands on the wheel to keep it straight. Stupidity aside, the car has felt very stable at speed. I have driven my car when it was flat stock, and I know the feeling most Z owners describe at 90mph+ The car doesn't wander at speed either (road surfaces not withstanding) even when passing trucks on windy days. I have no numbers to tell ya though.. only seat of the pants. (BTW the belly pan was my last mod... except for last year.) so I know the effects of the rest of the suspension on the handling.
